Dyes are common pollutants in textile wastewaters, and the treatment of the wastewater has now attracted much attention due to its wide application and low biodegradability. In this study, Fe^0/C/Clay ceramics, a kind of novel micro-electrolysis filler, were sintered and employed in a dynamic micro-electrolysis reactor for synthetic Acid Red 73 （AR73） and Reactive Blue 4 （RB4） wastewater treatment. The effects ofinfluent pH, hydraulic retention time （HRT）, and aeration on the decoloration efficiencies of AR73 and RB4 were studied. The optimum conditions for wastewater treatment were： AR73, influent pH of 4, HRT of 2 h and aeration; RB4, influent pH of 5, HRT of 6 h and aeration. Under the optimum conditions, decoloration efficiency of AR73 and RB4 wastewater was 96% and 83%, respectively. Results of UV-vis spectrum scanning demonstrated that the chromophores were broken. Continuous running tests showed that improvement of micro-electrolysis system with Fe^0/C/Clay ceramics for AR73 and RB4 synthetic wastewater treatment could avoid failure of micro-electrolysis reactor, which indicated great potential for the practical application of the ceramics in the field of actual industrial wastewater treatment.

The fermentation for succinic acid production outperforms other methods by low energy consumption and environmental benignity,with the resulting products mainly as disodium succinate(DSA).By directly esterifying DSA using CO_(2) and CH3OH,it is expected to avoid the use of inorganic *** high-resolution mass spectrometry analysis and theoretical calculation,this study establishes that the reaction consists of three steps,i.e.,first forming 3-carboxypropanoate,then monomethyl succinate(MMS),and finally dimethyl succinate(DMS).A detailed kinetic analysis is further performed,the results demonstrate that the transformation of DSA to MMS is regarded to be a second-order reaction for reactant DSA,while the transformation of MMS to DMS is a first-order reaction for reactant *** activation energy for the generation of MMS from DSA is 37.15 kJ·mol^(-1),and that for the generation of DMS from MMS is 85.80 kJ·mol^(-1),indicating the latter one is the rate-determining step.

AIM： To observe the curative effect of Weiansan （WAS） on gastric precancerous lesions （GPL） and H pylori elimination. METHODS： Seventy-six patients with GPL were randomly divided into two groups： WAS group （n = 42） and Weifuchun （WFC） group （n = 34）. The patients in the WAS group were administered 5 g WAS 3 times a day, and the patients in the WFC group took WFC （4 tablets） 3 times a day. To monitor inflammation of gastric mucosa, degree of glandular atrophy （GA）, intestinal metaplasia （IM） and dysplasia, and H pylori infection, all patients underwent gastroscopy and biopsy with pathological examination before and after treatment. Fifty male Sprague-Dawley （SD） rats were used in animal experiments. Of these, 10 served as the control group （n = 10）, 40 were given ranitidine combined with N-methyl- N^1-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine （MNNG） for 12 wk and divided into 4 groups randomly： model group （n = 10）, high-dose WAS group （n = 10）, low-close WAS group （n = 10） and WFC group （n = 10）. Twelve weeks later, all rats were killed and a 2 cm ×1 cm tissue was taken from the lesser curvature of the gastric antrum. H pylori infection was determined by the fast urease method. RESULTS： The curative effect in WAS groups was similar to that in WFC groups. There was no statistical difference in degree of GA, IM and dysplasia between WAS and WFC groups. The rate of Hpylori infection in the model group （positive/negative： 9/1） was significantly higher than that in the control group （positive/negative： 1/9）（P 〈 0.01）. H pylori elimination in the high-dose WAS group （positive/negative： 4/6） and low-dose WAS group （positive/negative： 6/4） was similar to that in the WFC group （positive/negative： 4/6）（P 〉 0.05）.CONCLUSION： WAS improves clinical symptoms by suppressing GA, IM and dysplasia and eliminating H pylori.

A reaction interface between the aluminum and K_2ZrF_6 during molten salt reaction process was frozen by quenching the mold in water, and the interface structure was analyzed to determine the formation process of Al_3Zr. Results show that a clear conical interface existed between the K_2ZrF_6 and aluminum. A zirconium accumulation layer with the thickness of about 2–3 lm was formed at the aluminum side of the interface. Many initially formed Al_3Zr particles（with the size of 0.4–16 lm） distributed in this layer, most of which located at the interface. The morphology of Al_3Zr particles is closely related with their size. For the size of 0.4–1 lm, the Al_3Zr appeared as globular and ellipsoid shapes. When it grew to the size of 1–2 and 2–16 lm, it exhibited the rule cube shape, and rule cuboids shape, respectively.

Three Landsat TM imageries （taken on 18 May 1987,4 August 1998 and 28 July 2007） were used as the data source to identify the spatial and temporal variations of the suspended sediment concentration （SSC） in surface waters of the Changjiang *** correction was carried out to determine the water-leaving reflectance using the FLAASH module.A regression equation between surveyed SSC and suspended sediment index was chosen to retrieve the SSC from the Landsat TM *** addition,tidal harmonic analysis was performed to calculate tidal conditions corresponding to the acquisition time of satellite *** results show that the SSC spatial patterns are similar to the in situ observation results,which show the highest SSC in the region of turbidity maximum zone in the Changjiang *** the period of 1987 to 2007,the SSC pattern is controlled mainly by tidal dynamic conditions and wind speeds,rather than sediment discharges from the river.

Twelve genes of the PIN family in rice were analyzed for gene and protein structures and an evolutionary relationship with reported AtPINs in Arabidopsis. Four members of PIN1 （designated as OsPINla-d）, one gene paired with AtPIN2 （OsPIN2）, three members of PIN5 （OsPIN5a-c）, one gene paired with AtPIN8 （OsPIN8）, and three monocot-specific PINs （OsPIN9, OsPINIOa, and b） were identified from the phylogenetic analysis. Tissue-specific expression patterns of nine PIN genes among them were investigated using RT-PCR and GUS reporter. The wide variations in the expression domain in different tissues of the PIN genes were observed. In general, PIN genes are up-regulated by exogenous auxin, while different responses of different PIN genes to other hormones were found.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of the welding joint filled with microalloying 5183 aluminum welding wires

In this study, 7A52 aluminum alloy sheets of 4 mm in thickness were welded by tungsten inert gas welding using microalloying welding wires containing traces of Zr and Er. The influence of rare earth elements Zr and Er on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the welded joints was analyzed by optical microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, hardness testing, and tensile mechanical properties testing. Systematic analyses indicate that the addition of trace amounts of Er and Zr leads to the formation of fine Al3Er, Al3Zr, and Al3（Zr,Er） phases that favor significant grain refinement in the weld zone. Besides, the tensile strength and hardness of the welded joints were obviously improved with the addition of Er and Zr, as evidenced by the increase in tensile strength and elongation by 40 MPa and 1.4%, respectively, and by the welding coefficient of 73%.

Cord grass colonization on the Jiangsu coast, eastern China, modifies the native salt marshes in terms of ecosystem structure. The Landsat TM images from 1992 to 2003 were analyzed to identify salt-marsh vegetation distribution patterns and their changes over this coastal region, in order to evaluate the effects of the spreading of the artificially introduced halophyte Spartina. Supervised classification was performed using Bands 3, 4 and 5 in conjunction with in situ training samples, to derive the distribution pattern of the vegetation in the study area. Further, in order to identify the intertidal areas with different tidal elevations, a data treatment procedure was designed to combine regional water level data using harmonic analysis with the waterlines on the TM images extracted by density slice. The results show that：（1） the Spartina alterniflora area has been expanding towards the sea rapidly since it was introduced, especially at initial stages; （2） in the upper part of the inter-tidal zone, the local marsh plant Suaeda salsa and the exotic species Spartina anglica were present only near the sea dyke, occupying only a small part of the entire salt marsh, and the area of these two species has been reduced by land reclamation; （3） there has been a trend for Spartina alterniflora to become the dominant species in the salt marshes in the study area; and （4） the elevation of Spartina alterniflora’s seaward fringe was close to mean high water on neaps, and its landward boundary was slightly higher than mean high water. The salt marsh environment of the study area has been modified rapidly by the Spartina vegetation for the last 12 years.

AIM To investigate the potential role of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1(PARP1) in the development of Barrett's esophagus(BE).METHODS A BE mouse model was established to examine the esophageal morphological changes and molecular changes. Microarray analysis was performed to compare the gene expression profiles between BE patients and healthy controls. q PCR was used to examine the PARP1 expression in cell lines after treatment with H_2O_2 and bile acids(p H 4). Immunofluorescence staining, comet assay, and annexin V staining were used to evaluate the impact of PARP1 activity on cell survival and DNA damage response after oxidative *** The gene expression profile in normal and BE esophageal epithelial cells showed that PARP1, the major poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase, was overexpressed in BE. In the mouse model of BE, positive staining for NF-κB, γH2 AX, and poly(ADP-ribose)(PAR) was observed. H_2O_2 and bile acids(p H 4) increased the PARP1 m RNA expression level in normal esophageal epithelial cells. Using sh RNA-PARP1 to suppress PARP1 activity decreased the cell viability after treatment with H_2O_2 and bile acids(p H 4), and increased the oxidative damage as demonstrated by an increase in the levels of H_2O_2 , intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS), oxidative DNA damage, double-strand breaks, and apoptosis(P < 0.01).CONCLUSION The dysfunction of PARP1 in esophageal epithelial cells increases the levels of ROS and oxidative DNA damage, which could be common risk factors for BE and esophageal adenocarcinoma.
