Optimal operation of multi-storage tank multi-source system based on storage policy

A two-stage method is developed to solve a new class of multi-storage tank multi-source (MTMS) systems. In the first stage, the optimal storage policy of each tank is determined according to the electricity tariff, and the ground-level storage tank is modeled as a node. In the second stage, the genetic algorithm, combined with a repairing scheme, is applied to solve the pump scheduling problem. The objective of the pump scheduling problem is to ensure that the required volume is adequately provided by the pumps while minimizing the operation cost (energy cost and treatment cost). The decision variables are the settings of the pumps and speed ratio of variable-speed pumps at time steps of the total operational time horizon. A mixed coding methodology is developed according to the characteristics of the decision variables. Daily operation cost savings of approximately 11% are obtained by application of the proposed method to a pressure zone of S. Y. water distribution system (WDS), China.

For the car sequencing（CS） problem, the draw-backs of the ＂sliding windows＂ technique used in the objective function have not been rectified, and no high quality initial solution has been acquired to accelerate the improvement of the solution quality. Firstly, the objective function is improved to solve the double and bias counting of violations broadly discussed. Then, a new method combining heuristic with constraint propagation is proposed which constructs initial solutions under a parallel framework. Based on constraint propagation, three filtering rules are designed to intersecting with three greedy functions, so the variable domain is narrowed in the process of the construction. The parallel framework is served to show its robustness in terms of the quality of the solution since it greatly increases the performance of obtaining the best solution. In the computational experiments, 109 instances of 3 sets from the CSPLib＇ s benchmarks are used to test the performance of the proposed method. Experiment results show that the proposed method outperforms others in acquiring the best-known results for 85 best-known results of 109 are obtained with only one construction. The proposed research provides an avenue to remedy the deficiencies of ＂sliding windows＂ technique and construct high quality initial solutions.

Considering both process planning and shop scheduling in manufacturing can fully utilize their complementarities,resulting in improved rationality of process routes and high-quality and efficient production. Hence,the study of Integrated Process Planning and Scheduling (IPPS) has become a hot topic in the current production field. However,when performing this integrated optimization,the uncertainty of processing time is a realistic key point that cannot be neglected. Thus,this paper investigates a Fuzzy IPPS (FIPPS) problem to minimize the maximum fuzzy completion time. Compared with the conventional IPPS problem,FIPPS considers the fuzzy process time in the uncertain production environment,which is more practical and realistic. However,it is difficult to solve the FIPPS problem due to the complicated fuzzy calculating rules. To solve this problem,this paper formulates a novel fuzzy mathematical model based on the process network graph and proposes a MultiSwarm Collaborative Optimization Algorithm (MSCOA) with an integrated encoding method to improve the optimization. Different swarms evolve in various directions and collaborate in a certain number of iterations. Moreover,the critical path searching method is introduced according to the triangular fuzzy number,allowing for the calculation of rules to enhance the local searching ability of MSCOA. The numerical experiments extended from the well-known Kim benchmark are conducted to test the performance of the proposed MSCOA. Compared with other competitive algorithms,the results obtained by MSCOA show significant advantages,thus proving its effectiveness in solving the FIPPS problem.

Fluid resonance in moonpool formed by twin boxes under wave actions is investigated by using a viscous numerical wave flume with ReNormalization Group(RNG)turbulent *** accuracy of the numerical model is validated by available experimental *** types of edge profiles,the sharp edge,concave edge and convex edge are *** simulations show that the normalized resonant amplitude in moonpool decreases with the decrease of moonpool opening or increase of incident wave *** increased reflection coefficients are the major reason for the phenomena,implying less wave energy is able to support the wave resonance in *** the increase of incident wave height,the energy coefficients increase for convex edges around resonant fre-quency,which are oppositely with those of sharp and concave *** flow patterns of the wave resonance in the vicinity of the moonpool entrance are also identified,which are mainly dependent on the edge profiles.

Computational fluid dynamics is used to study the roll dynamics of a damaged ship in beam waves with various steepnesses and in calm *** wave-making method,which combines the velocity-inlet boundary and momentum source with the fifth-order Stokes theory,is employed for wave *** SST k-ωturbulence model with a modification to the turbulent viscosity in Reynolds stress is adopted to prevent the over-production of turbulence in the numerical wave *** lateral drift restrained model with a combined dynamic mesh strategy is utilized to deal with the coupled heave-sway-roll motions of the ***,benchmarking tests are performed,including wave generation and roll response of the damaged ship in regular beam ***,the effects of incident wave steepness on the roll response of the damaged ship are *** different wave steepnesses,the ship roll motion is dominated by the first-order harmonic *** second-order component increases with the increase of wave ***,the roll hydrodynamic coefficients for different parts of the damaged ship are investigated with different rolling *** added moment of inertia for the whole damaged ship is mainly attributed to the external hull composition and changes slightly with the change of roll amplitude and *** added moment of inertia for the compartments could be negative in particular *** damping coefficients of the whole damaged ship and external hull increase with the increase of roll amplitude and frequency,while that of the compartments appears complicated with the change of roll amplitude and frequency.

The current study investigates the hydrodynamic characteristics of gap resonance within a narrow gap formed by two adjacent boxes subjected to incident focused transient wave groups.A two-dimensional(2D)numerical wave tank based on the OpenFOAM package is utilized for this *** weather-side box is fixed while the lee-side box is allowed to heave freely under wave *** effects of the focused wave amplitude and spectral peak period on the wave amplification within the gap,motion of the lee-side box,and wave forces(including horizontal and vertical wave forces)acting on each box are systematically *** comparison,another structural layout consisting of two fixed boxes is also *** results reveal that the release of the heave degree of freedom(DoF)of the lee-side box results in remarkably distinct resonance *** the heave-box system,both its fluid resonant period and the period corresponding to the maximum heave displacement of the lee-side box are significantly larger(i.e.,1.6-1.7 times)than the fluid resonant period of the fixed-box ***,the wave amplification factor inside the gap in the heave-box system is significantly lower than that in the fixed-box *** the variations of the maximum horizontal and vertical wave forces with the spectral peak period and their magnitudes are also significantly different between the two structural systems.

The resonant motion of the fluid inside a narrow gap between two fixed boxes induced by incident regular waves with various wave heights is investigated by adopting a two-dimensional numerical wave flume based on an opensourced CFD package,*** two boxes have identical draft and height,but the upstream box has a variable *** article focuses on the influences of the breadth ratio,defined as the ratio of the breadth of the upstream box to that of the downstream box,on the following three aspects of hydrodynamic characteristics of gap resonance:(1)the wave height amplifications inside the gap,and in front and at the rear of the structure system,(2)the reflection,transmission,and energy loss coefficients of the structure system,and(3)the response and damping time of the fluid *** is found that the fluid resonant frequency,the amplification factor of the resonant wave height inside the gap and the maximum energy loss coefficient of the structure system are shown to gradually decrease with the increase of the breadth *** response time of gap resonance is shown to first increase and then decrease with the breadth ratio overall,regardless of the incident wave height,and the configuration that the two boxes have the same breadth would bring the largest response time of gap resonance.
