Selective G6PDH inactivation for Helicobacter pylori eradication with transformed polysulfide

Alternative treatment for the highly prevalent Helicobacter pylori infection is imperative due to rising antibiotic resistance. We unexpectedly discovered that the anti-H. pylori component in garlic is hydrogen polysulfide（H2S_n, n≥2）, not organic polysulfides. Studies on the mechanism of action（MoA） show that H2S_nspecifically inactivates H. pylori glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase（G6PDH） by interfering with electron transfer from glucose-6-phosphate（G6P） to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate（NADP+）. However, low H2S_nyield makes garlic derivatives hard to be a reliable donor of H2S_nto treat H. pylori infection. To address this challenge, we established a polysulfide transformation process from garlic organosulfur compounds into Fe3S4that generates H2S_nwith a 25–58 times increase in *** chitosan encapsulation, we designed a gastric-adaptive H2S_nmicroreactor（GAPSR） that eradicates H. pylori with 250 times higher efficiency under gastric conditions. A single GAPSR achieves more rapid H. pylori eradication than combined antibiotics therapy without disturbing the gut microbiota. These findings indicate a distinct MoA transformation mediated by polysulfide as an alternative candidate to treat H. pylori infection.

A STUDY OF THE ONSET OF KINK BAND

This paper suggests the asymmetric-plastic theory of crystalline solids concerning the plastic rotation of crystal. The deformation of crystalline solids undergoes three microprocesses, lattice distortion, slip over active crystallographic planes and the rotation- of the crystal. In the asymmetric-plastic theory of crystal suggested, the corotational rates of symmetric Cauchy stress and moment stress correspond to the rates of elastic strain and the gradient of the rotational rate of the crystal respectively. The Schmid yield condition and Prager's consistency condition incorporating antisymmetric stress are formulated. Then the asymmetric-plastic model of crystalline solids is applied for the investigation of the onset of kink band by a standard stability analysis. The orientation of the kink band is perpendicular to the primary slip system. The width of the kink band is the function of the ''characteristic length'' of the microstructure of metal materials.

Remote substituent effects on catalytic activity of metal-organic frameworks: a linker orbital energy model

The Hammett equation is commonly used to theoretically depict the remote electronic effects of substituents on catalytic activitiesof metal nodes of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). However, the application of the theory to MOF catalysts usually encountersproblems because it relies heavily on empirical parameters with unknown transferability. To develop an alternative predictiontheory, the linker orbital energy model has been proposed by density functional theory calculations. The model provides a simplemethod to approximately depict the remote electronic substituent effects on catalytic activities of metal nodes of MOFs, and itsgeneral applicability to MOFs is supported by extensively revisiting the structure-activity relationships reported in the *** model can be used to design catalytic activity of metal nodes of MOFs by engineering the electronic properties of linkers andsubstituents.

Design Curves for Mooring Lines of Turret Mooring Systems

This paper presents a series of design curves to aid in the selection of turret mooring systems for tankers based Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) systems. These curves are appropriate to water depths ranging from 100 m to 600 m. The curves can be used as a preliminary design tool, allowing the designer to quickly evaluate alternative mooring system configurations, including the number of mooring lines, the characteristics of chain and wire rope to be deployed and the. initial tension. With a knowledge of the total environmental force and vessel motion characteristics, the designer can determine the appropriate system for closer evaluation.

Developing a Knock Predictive Criterion in Spark Ignition Engines Fuelled with Gaseous Fuels

Consideration of the chemical reaction activity of the end gas in a spark ignition and operating conditions are combined to predict the onset of knock and associated performance in an engine fuelled with methane.A two-zone predictive combustion model was developed based on an estimate of the efiFective duration of the combustion period and the mass burning rate for any set of operating *** unburned end gas preignition chemical reaction activity is described by a detailed chemical reaction kinetic scheme for methane and *** variation with time of the value of a formulated dimensionless knock parameter(k)is *** is shown that whenever knocking is encountered,the value of'k' builds up to a sufficiently high value that exceeds a critical *** normal operating conditions, the value of'k'remains throughout the whole combustion period at comparatively very low levels. It is shown that the model and the use of this knock criterion'k'produce results that are in good agreement with experiment.

Study of operator reliability in nuclear power plants

The study of the reliability of operator’s diagnosis and decision-making during abnormal events with HCR model has been introduced. A new approach has been proposed by the authors to deal with the classification of HIs. The modification of T0.5 by PSFs coefficients has been discussed. In addition, it is emphasized that T0. 5 and SD(σ) of response times can be used as a scale to predict and evaluate the reliability of crew/operator behavior. These processings provide improvement and refinement to HCR model and its practical application. The experiment for operator response time of Chinese NPP using a lull-scale simulator has proved the above-mentioned processings and presented the quantitative results of operator reliability in Chinese NPP.
