In order to understand the fundamental questions of the biology of life and to duplicate the pathogenesis of human diseases, animal models using different experimental animals, such as rodents, Drosophila, Caenorhabditis elegans, and zebrafish, have been established and used widely for many decades. The controllability of environmental conditions, the high reproducibility, the ease of scale and the comparability of results, as well as the ability to use different standards for ethical protocols, all make an animal model the ideal tool for carrying out studies on human diseases and the development of novel pharmaceuticals and new therapies （Xue et al., 2014）. An ideal animal model should reflect the complete spectra of a specific human disease, with similar features on the following key issues：（1） genetic basis; （2） anatomy and physiology; （3） pathological response（s） and underlying mechanism（s）; （4） phenotypic endpoints as clinical studies; （5） responsiveness to known drugs with clinical efficacy; and （6） prediction of clinical efficacy （McGonigle and Ruggeri, 2014）.

目的比较空心螺钉双平面垂直固定与倒三角固定治疗中青年PauwelsⅢ型股骨颈骨折的临床疗效。方法回顾分析2021年6月—2022年12月收治且符合选择标准的55例中青年PauwelsⅢ型股骨颈骨折患者临床资料。均采用闭合复位空心螺钉治疗,25例采用双平面垂直固定(研究组),30例采用倒三角固定(对照组)。两组患者性别、年龄、患侧侧别、致伤原因、合并基础疾病、受伤至手术时间等基线资料比较差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。记录并比较两组手术时间、术中出血量、透视次数、导针穿刺次数、开始负重时间、完全负重时间、骨折愈合时间及并发症发生情况;术后1 d、6个月、12个月及末次随访时,采用Harris评分评价髋关节功能,疼痛视觉模拟评分(VAS)评价疼痛缓解情况。末次随访时于X线片上测量股骨颈短缩长度。结果两组患者均获随访,随访时间12~31个月,平均22.0个月;两组随访时间比较差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。研究组手术时间、术中出血量、透视次数均多于对照组,但差异无统计学意义(P>0.05);研究组导针穿刺次数多于对照组,开始负重时间及完全负重时间均短于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P0.05)。随访期间两组均未发生股骨头坏死及切口相关并发症,末次随访时研究组股骨颈短缩长度明显短于对照组(P0.05)外,其余时间点研究组Harris评分均优于对照组(P0.05)。结论与倒三角固定相比,利用空心螺钉双平面垂直固定治疗中青年PauwelsⅢ型股骨颈骨折能有效减少股骨颈短缩且不影响骨折愈合,早期恢复髋关节功能,临床疗效肯定。

The beginning of a new year is always a time for reflection, contemplation and optimism. For the past thirty-five years, since its founding in 1980, Zoological Research （ZR） has experienced many highs and lows, seeing great advances but also overcoming numerous hurdles. Zoological Research has made many valuable contributions to the progress of biological sciences in China and won prestige both at home and abroad. Currently, it serves as a key journal focusing on Genome Evolution and Genetic Diversity, Animal Ecology and Ethology, Primates and Animal Models of Human Diseases. The journal also publishes high quality papers related to taxonomy and DNA barcoding, developmental biology, physiology biochemistry, immunology, and neuroscience. The growth achieved by ZR is not only due to our excellent readers and reviewers, but also to the evolution of our authors into renowned scholars. Accordingly, we would like to thank you all for your constant support and generous help.

OBJECTIVE： To evaluate the therapeutic effects and adverse reactions of olcegepant and telcagepant for the treatment of migraine. DATA RETRIEVAL： We identified studies using Medline （1966-01/2012-06）, PubMed （1966-01/2012-06）, Scopus （1980-01/2012-06）, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials （1980-01/2012-06） and China National Knowledge Infrastructure （1980-01/2012-06）. SELECTION CRITERIA： The included studies were double-blind, randomized and placebo-controlled trials of olcegepant or telcagepant for the treatment of single acute migraine in patients with or without aura. Adverse reaction data were also included. Two independent investigators performed quality evaluation and data extraction using Jadad scoring. Meta-analyses were undertaken using RevMan 5.0.25 software. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Pain relief rate, pain-free rate, and incidence of adverse reactions were measured in patients 2 and 24 hours after injection of olcegepant and oral teicagepant. RESULTS： Six randomized, controlled trials were included. Meta-analysis demonstrated that compared with placebo, the pain relief rate （odds ratio, OR = 5.21, 95% confidence interval, CI： 1.91-14.2, P 〈 0.01） and pain-free rate （OR = 31.11, 95% Ch 3.80-254.98, P 〈 0.01） significantly increased 2 hours after 2.5 mg/d olcegepant treatment. Pain relief rate and pain-free rate 2 and 24 hours after treatment with telcagepant 150 mg/d and 300 mg/d were superior to placebo （P 〈 0.01）. Moreover, the remission rate of unrelenting headache was higher after 24 hours of 300 mg/d telcagepant treatment compared with 150 mg/d （OR = 0.78, 95% Ch 0.62-0.97, P 〈 0.05）. The incidence of adverse reactions with olcegepant was not significantly greater than placebo （P = 0.28） but within 48 hours of administration of telcagepant 300 mg/d, the incidence of adverse reactions was higher than placebo （OR = 1.21,95% Ch 1.04-1.42, P 〈 0.01）. While the recent release of the Chinese tree shrew （Tupaia belangeri chinensis） genome has made the tree shrew an increasingly viable experimental animal model for biomedical research, further study of the genome may facilitate new insights into the applicability of this model. For example, though the tree shrew has a rapid rate of speed and strong jumping ability, there are limited studies on its locomotion ability. In this study we used the available Chinese tree shrew genome information and compared the evolutionary pattern of 407 locomotion system related orthologs among five mammals （human, rhesus monkey, mouse, rat and dog） and the Chinese tree shrew. Our analyses identified 29 genes with significantly high co （Ka/Ks ratio） values and 48 amino acid sites in 14 genes showed significant evidence of positive selection in the Chinese tree shrew. Some of these positively selected genes, e.g. HOXA6 （homeobox A6） and AVP （arginine vasopressin）, play important roles in muscle contraction or skeletal morphogenesis. These results provide important clues in understanding the genetic bases of locomotor adaptation in the Chinese tree shrew.

The electrochemical advanced oxidation processes(EAOPs) have been extensively applied in the treatment of organic pollutants ***,the mini review provides the coupling systems about EAOPs and different oxidants(e.g.,persulfate(PS),peroxymonosulfate(PMS),and ozone(O3)),including EAOPs-PS systems,EAOPs-PMS systems,EAOPs-peroxone systems,and photoelectro-oxidants systems,for the organic compounds *** coupling system of EAOPs with oxidants is an effective way to improve the generated free radicals(e.g.,HO^·and SO4^·-) concentration and to accelerate pollutant *** this review,we make a summary of the homogeneous and heterogeneous EAOPs-oxidant *** reaction mechanisms of EAOPs combined with different oxidants are elucidated in detail,as well as the synergistic effect for improving the degradation and mineralization efficiency.

Conventional transmission line distance protection approaches are subject to malfunction under reverse fault-induced current transformer(CT) saturation for the typically employed breaker-and-a-half configuration. This paper addresses this issue by proposing a new distance protection approach that combines the blocking and unblocking criteria of distance protection based on the values of incomplete differential current,operation voltage, and current harmonic content. The proposed approach is verified by theoretical analysis, dynamic simulation testing, and field operation to ensure that the obtained distance protection is reliable and refrains from operating unnecessarily under reverse fault-induced CT saturation in the breaker-and-ahalf configuration. Meanwhile, the proposed approach is demonstrated can operate reliably when forward faults occur or various reverse faults are converted to forward faults.

Neutralizing CSF1 in vivo completely prevents ovariectomy （OVX）-induced bone loss in mice. There are two isoforms of CSF1, soluble （sCSF1）, and membrane-bound （mCSF1）, but their individual biological functions are unclear. It had been previously reported that mCSF1 knockout （K/O） and wild type （Wt） female mice experience the same degree of bone loss following OVX. In Wt mice the expression of sCSF1 was elevated fourfold in skeletal tissue following OVX while expression of mCSF1 was unchanged. To examine the role of sCSF1 in OVX-induced bone loss, mice were engineered in which sCSF1 was not expressed but expression of mCSF1 was unaffected （sCSF1 K/O）. Isoform-specific reverse transcription PCR confirmed the absence of transcripts for sCSF1 in bone tissue isolated from these animals and no circulating CSF1 was detected by ELISA. Surprisingly, there were no significant differences in bone mineral density （BMD） between sCSF1 K/O mice and Wt controls as assessed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and micro-CT. However, one month after OVX, femoral, spinal and total BMD had declined by 11.2%, 8.9%, and 8.7% respectively in OVX-Wt animals as compared to Sham-OVX. In contrast OVX sCSF1 K/O mice showed changes of ＋0.1%, - 2.4%, and ＋2.3% at the same 3 sites compared to Sham-OVX sCSF1 K/O mice. These data indicate important non-redundant functions for the two isoforms of CSF1 and suggest that sCSF1, but not mCSF1, plays a key role in estrogen-deficiency bone loss.
