A 29-year-old Chinese woman complained of recurring dizziness for 5 months and gait disturbance for 2 months.On admission(April 2016),she was found to have a widebased gait,horizontal nystagmus and positive heel-kneeshin test.Initial hematological,biochemical,microbiological,hormonal investigations and tumor serum markers were unremarkable.Oligoclonal bands were observed in cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)without other pathological changes,while magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)of cervical spine and brain were normal.An anterior mediastinal mass was noted by computed tomography(CT)[Figure 1A].Despite a lack of paraneoplastic antibodies in CSF or serum,such as anti-neuronal nuclear autoantibody type 1(ANNA-1,also known as"anti-Hu"),ANNA-2(also known as"anti-Ri"),Purkinje cell antibody type 1(PCA-1,also known as"anti-Yo"),anti-CV2(also known as"collapsin response mediator protein 5[CRMP5]"),anti-Ma,anti-Amphiphysin,anti-Tr(also known as"delta/notch-like epidermal growth factorrelated receptor[DNER]")and anti-glutamic acid decarboxylase(GAD),her neurological manifestation still pointed toward one of the paraneoplastic neurological syndromes(PNSs).

Global Monsoon Changes under the Paris Agreement Temperature Goals in CESM1(CAM5)

Based on experiments with the Community Earth System Model, version 1(Community Atmosphere Model, version 5)[CESM1(CAM5)], and an observational dataset, we found that CESM1-CAM5 is able to reproduce global monsoon(GM)features, including the patterns of monsoon precipitation and monsoon domains, the magnitude of GM precipitation(GMP,the local summer precipitation), GM area(GMA), and GM percentage(the ratio of the local summer precipitation to annual precipitation). Under the Paris Agreement temperature goals, the GM in CESM1-CAM5 displays the following changes:(1)The GMA is ambiguous under the 1.5℃ temperature goal and increases under the 2.0℃ temperature goal. The increase mainly results from a change in the monsoon percentage.(2) The GM, land monsoon and ocean monsoon precipitation all significantly increase under both the 1.5℃ and 2.0℃ goals. The increases are mainly due to the enhancement of humidity and evaporation.(3) The percentages of GM, land monsoon and ocean monsoon feature little change under the temperature goals.(4) The lengths of the GM, land monsoon and ocean monsoon are significantly prolonged under the temperature goals.The increase in precipitation during the monsoon withdrawal month mainly accounts for the prolonged monsoons. Regarding the differences between the 1.5℃ and 2.0℃ temperature goals, it is certain that the GMP displays significant discrepancies.In addition, a large-scale enhancement of ascending motion occurs over the southeastern Tibetan Plateau and South China under a warming climate, whereas other monsoon areas experience an overall decline in ascending motion. This leads to an extraordinary wetting over Asian monsoon areas.

In order to improve our military ’s level of intelligent accusation decision-making in future intelligent joint warfare, this paper studies operation loop recommendation methods for kill web based on the fundamental combat form of the future, i.e.,“web-based kill,” and the operation loop theory. Firstly, we pioneer the operation loop recommendation problem with operation ring quality as the objective and closed-loop time as the constraint, and construct the corresponding planning model.Secondly, considering the case where there are multiple decision objectives for the combat ring recommendation problem,we propose for the first time a multi-objective optimization algorithm, the multi-objective ant colony evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition(MOACEA/D), which integrates the multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition(MOEA/D) with the ant colony algorithm. The MOACEA/D can converge the optimal solutions of multiple single objectives nondominated solution set for the multi-objective problem. Finally,compared with other classical multi-objective optimization algorithms, the MOACEA/D is superior to other algorithms superior in terms of the hyper volume(HV), which verifies the effectiveness of the method and greatly improves the quality and efficiency of commanders’ decision-making.

Brownian dynamics simulations are employed to explore the effects of chain stiffness and trivalent salt concentration on the conformational behavior of spherical polyelectrolyte brush. The rigid brush adopts bundle-like morphology at a wide range of trivalent salt concentration. The number variation of bundles pinned on the colloid surface shows a non-monotonic profile as a function of the chain stiffness. The radial distributions of monomers and ions and the charge ratio between condensed ions and monomers are calculated. The charge inversion is observed for the high salt concentration regardless of chain rigidity. Furthermore, the pair correlation functions of monomer-monomer and monomer-salt cation are used to elucidate the aggregated mechanism of the bundle-like structure.

Accumulating evidence supports the association of somatic mutations with tumor occurrence and development.We aimed to identify somatic mutations with important implications in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and explore their possible mechanisms.The gene mutation profiles of HCC patients were assessed,and the tumor mutation burden was calculated.Gene mutations closely associated with tumor mutation burden and patient overall survival were identified.In vivo and in vitro experiments were performed to verify the effects of putative genes on proliferation,invasion,drug resistance,and other malignant biological behaviors of tumor cells.Fourteen genes with a high mutation frequency were identified.The mutation status of 12 of these genes was closely related to the mutation burden.Among these 12 genes,LRP1B mutation was closely associated with patient prognosis.Nine genes were associated with immune cell infiltration.The results of in vivo and in vitro experiments showed that the knockdown of LRP1B promotes tumor cell proliferation and migration and enhances the resistance of tumor cells to liposomal doxorubicin.LRP1B could directly bind to NCSTN and affect its protein expression level,thereby regulating the PI3K/AKT pathway.Our mutational analysis revealed complex and orchestrated liposomal alterations linked to doxorubicin resistance that may also render cancers less susceptible to immunotherapy and also provides new treatment alternatives.

As global economic growth increases,the demand for energy sources boosts.While fossil fuels have traditionally satisﬁed this demand,their environmental inﬂuence and limited reserves require alternatives.Fossil fuel combustion contributes substantially to greenhouse gas emissions,with a pressing need to halve these emissions by 2030 and target net-zero by 2050.Renewable energy sources,contributing currently to 29%of global electricity,are viewed as promising substitutes.With wind energy's potential,Zheng's team developed a novel method to harness even low wind speeds using well-aligned nanoﬁbers and an innovative“drop wind generator”.This system,combining moisture-saturated ionic liquid 3-Methyl-1-octylimidazolium chloride with speciﬁc nanoﬁber arrays,exploits wind-inducedﬂows for energy conversion.This study highlights the vast untapped potential of low-speed wind as a sustainable energy source potentially for electronics.

An Active Defense Solution for ARP Spoofing in OpenFlow Network

As an emerging network technology,Software-defined network(SDN), has been rapidly developing for recent years due to its advantage in network management and updating. There are still a lot of open problems while applying this novel technology in reality,especially for meeting security demands. The Address resolution protocol(ARP) spoofing, a representative network attack in traditional networks is investigated.We implement the ARP spoofing in SDN network firstly and find that the threat of ARP attack still exists and has big impact on the network. We propose a novel mechanism as defense solution for ARP spoofing oriented to OpenFlow platform. Theoretical analyzation is given, and the mechanism is implemented as a module of POX controller. Experiment results and performance evaluations show that our solution can reduce the security threat of ARP spoofing remarkably on OpenFlow platform and related SDN platforms.

Anti-Müllerian hormone(amh) is one of the earliest functional genes expressed during testicular differentiation. It has been suggested that androgen signaling regulates critical genes for the differentiation and development of the testis. To elucidate the exact regulatory mechanisms involved in amh transcription mediated by androgen signaling, androgen signaling was manipulated in zebrafish by cytochrome P45017a1(cyp17a1) knockout and Flutamide treatment. In cyp17a1-deficient and Flutamide-treated testes,up-regulated sry-box9a(sox9a) and down-regulated amh were observed. Moreover, a physical association of the zebrafish androgen receptor(AR) and SOX9 A was found. The interaction between AR and SOX9 A was mediated via the DNA binding domain(DBD) of AR and the transactivation domain(TA) of SOX9 A,and was further enhanced by 5-alpha dihydrotestosterone(DHT), one of the most potent androgens.Intriguingly, together with SOX9 A, androgen signaling synergistically promoted amh transcription,mainly through the proximal 1 kb of the amh promoter region. Taken together, our data demonstrate a critical mechanism underlying the direct synergy of androgen signaling and SOX9 A in the regulation of amh transcription.
