Effect of algal flocculation on dissolved organic matters using cationic starch modified soils

Modified soils（MSs） are being increasingly used as geo-engineering materials for the sedimentation removal of cyanobacterial blooms. Cationic starch（CS） has been tested as an effective soil modifier, but little is known about its potential impacts on the treated *** study investigated dissolved organic matters in the bloom water after algal removal using cationic starch modified soils（CS-MSs）. Results showed that the dissolved organic carbon（DOC） could be decreased by CS-MS flocculation and the use of higher charge density CS yielded a greater DOC reduction. When CS with the charge density of 0.052, 0.102 and0.293 meq/g were used, DOC was decreased from 3.4 to 3.0, 2.3 and 1.7 mg/L, *** excitation–emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy and UV254 analysis indicated that CS-MS exhibits an ability to remove some soluble organics, which contributed to the DOC reduction. However, the use of low charge density CS posed a potential risk of DOC increase due to the high CS loading for effective algal removal. When CS with the charge density of 0.044 meq/g was used, DOC was increased from 3.4 to 3.9 mg/L. This study suggested, when CS-MS is used for cyanobacterial bloom removal, the content of dissolved organic matters in the treated water can be controlled by optimizing the charge density of CS. For the settled organic matters, other measures（e.g., capping treatments using oxygen loaded materials） should be jointly applied after algal flocculation.

In order to reduce the environmental impact of conventional sludge treatment methods and to utilize the energy in sludge more effectively,a coupled system based on sewage sludge gasifier(SSG),solid oxide fuel cells(SOFC),supercritical CO_(2)cycle(S-CO_(2)),and organic Rankine cycle(ORC)is *** clean syngas obtained from sludge gasification is mixed with CH4 and then first utilized by the fuel *** exhaust gas from the fuel cell is fully combusted in the afterburning chamber and then enters the bottom cycle system consisting of S-CO_(2)&ORC to generate *** understand the performance of the system,thermodynamic and economic analyses were conducted to examine the project's *** thermodynamics as well as the economics of the coupled system were analyzed to arrive at the following conclusions,the power production of the system is 37.34 MW;the exergy efficiency is 55.62%,and the net electrical efficiency is 61.48%.The main exergy destruction is the gasifier and SOFC,accounting for 62.45%of the total exergy *** takes only6.13 years to repay the construction investment in the novel system,and the project obtains a NPV of 17723820USD during 20 years *** above findings indicate that the new coupled system has a better performance in terms of energy utilization and economy.

Perfluorooctanoic acid（PFOA）is recalcitrant to degrade and ***,the effect of temperature on the photolytic decomposition of PFOA was *** decomposition of PFOA was enhanced from 34% to 99% in 60 min of exposure when the temperature was increased from 25 to 85℃ under UV light（201–600 nm）.The limited degree of decomposition at 25℃ was due to low quantum yield,which was increased by a factor of 12 at 85℃.Under the imposed conditions,the defluorination ratio increased from 8% at 25℃ to 50% at85℃ in 60 *** of perfluorinated carboxylic acids（PFCAs,C7–C5）,PFCAs（C4–C3）and TFA（trifluoroacetic acid,C2）accelerated and attained a maximum within 30 to 90 min at 85℃.However,these reactions did not occur at 25℃ despite extended irradiation to180 *** was decomposed in a step-wise process by surrendering one *** each cyclical process,increased temperature enhanced the quantum yields of irradiation and reactions between water molecules and intermediates *** energy consumption for removing eachμmol of PFOA was reduced from 82.5 k J at 25℃ to 10.9 k J at 85℃ using *** coupled with heat achieved high rates of PFOA degradation and defluorination.

A strain, USTB-05, isolated from Lake Dianchi, China, degraded the cyanobacterial toxin microcystin-RR （MC-RR） at the rate of 16.7 mg/L per day. Analysis of 16S rDNA sequence showed that the strain was Sphingopyxis sp. Enzymatic degradation pathways for MC-RR by Sphingopyxis sp. USTB-05 were identified. Adda-Arg peptide bond of MC-RR was cleaved and then a hydrogen and a hydroxyl were combined onto the NH2 group of Adda and the carboxyl group of arginine to form a linear molecule as intermediate product within the first few hours. Then, through dehydration reaction, two hydrogen of amino group on arginine reacted with adjacent hydroxyl on carbon to form a linear MC-RR with two small peptide rings as the final product after 24 hr. These biodegradation pathways were different from those reported for other strains, implying that MC-RR may undergo different transformations and different products were formed due to various bacteria in natural lakes and reservoirs.

Using chitosan modified soil to flocculate and sediment algal cells has been considered as a promising strategy to combat cyanobacteria blooms in natural waters. However, the flocculation efficiency often varies with algal cells with different zeta potential（ZP） attributed to different growth phases or water conditions. This article investigated the relationship between ZP of Microcystis aeruginosa and its influence to the flocculation efficiency using chitosan modified soil. Results suggested that the optimal removal efficiency was obtained when the ZP was between- 20.7 and- 6.7 m V with a removal efficiency of more than 80% in 30 min and large floc size of 〉 350 μm. When the algal cells were more negatively charged than- 20.7 m V, the effect of chitosan modified soil was depressed（〈 60%） due to the insufficient charge density of chitosan to neutralize and destabilize the algal suspension. When the algal cells were less negative than- 6.7 m V or even positively charged, a small floc size（〈 120 μm） was formed, which may be difficult to sink under natural water conditions. Therefore, manipulation of ZP provided a viable tool to improve the flocculation efficiency of chitosan modified soil and an important guidance for practical engineering of cyanobacteria bloom control.

为了解从1998年至今的氮添加对植物响应研究的研究热点与发展趋势,本文利用VOSviewer和CiteSpace对Web of Science(WOS)中的相关文献进行了定量分析和可视化。运用描述性统计与可视化分析等方法,介绍了植物氮添加的研究热点、演化路径和发展趋势,并对被引量较多、质量较高的文献进行深入分析,总结该领域的研究热点,把握该领域的发展方向。研究发现:(1)在该领域已经形成了较为稳定的合作群体;(2)发表论文的期刊主要在植物与土壤、土壤化学、生态学等研究领域,且下载的文献基本符合布拉德福定律;(3)中国、美国、加拿大等国家对植物氮添加领域的研究内容较多,且国家之间的联系也较为紧密,但中国发文质量有待提升;(4)从1998—2023年的领域发展的热点与动向表明研究该领域的内容更加深入与广泛。

目的分析肝动脉化疗栓塞术(TACE)联合阿帕替尼治疗原发性肝癌的安全性及有效性。方法收集2021年6月至2022年6月收治的72例原发性肝癌患者,随机分为TACE组(采取TACE治疗)和联合组(采取TACE联合阿帕替尼治疗),各36例,比较2组临床疗效。结果治疗后,联合组总胆红素(TBil)、谷丙转氨酶(ALT)、谷草转氨酶(AST)、CD8^(+)水平和不良反应发生率均低于TACE组;CD4^(+)水平、CD4^(+)/CD8^(+)和治疗有效率均高于TACE组,差异具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论TACE联合阿帕替尼治疗原发性肝癌,能够显著改善患者的肝功能和免疫功能,治疗有效性较高,且不增加不良反应发生率,具有临床推广价值。
