Carbon monoxide(CO) is a poisonous gas particularly to all leaving being present in the *** estimate has shown that the vehicular exhaust contributes the largest source of CO pollution in developed *** to the exponentially increasing number of automobile vehicles on roads,CO concentrations have reached an alarming level in urban *** control this vehicular exhaust pollution,the end-of-pipe-technology using catalytic converters is *** catalysts operating efficiently in a catalytic converter are a challenging class of materials for applications in cold start of engines to maintain indoor air *** the cold start period,the catalytic converter was entirely inactive,because the catalytic converter had not been warmed *** cold start phase is also depending upon the characteristics of vehicles and property of *** increasing cost of noble metals with the increasing number of vehicles motivates the investigation of material concepts to reduce the precious metal content in automotive catalysts or to find a substitute for noble ***(CuMnOx) catalyst could work very well at the low temperature;thus,it can overcome the problem of cold-start emissions if used in a catalytic ***,low cost,easy availability and advanced synthesis methods with stabilizer,promoter,etc.,advocates for the use of hopcalite as an auto exhaust purification *** there are numerous research articles present on this topic until now,no review has been presented for demanding this *** there is a space in this area,and it has been made an attempt to seal this hole and progress the future scope for hopcalite catalyst for purification of exhaust gases by this review.

Transport hindrances with electrodialytic recovery of citric acid from solution of strong electrolytes

Electrodialytic （ED） recovery of citric acid （CA） in the presence/absence of strong electrolytes （NaCl, CaCl2 and Feel3） was separately analyzed under different process conditions. Recovery effectiveness was quantitatively estimated from current efficiency values. Efficiency attained optimum value with both flow rate and potential applied, while a monotonic rise was noted with temperature which got lowered beyond 0.1 tool. L 1 feed concentration. 40% drop in efficiency was recorded in the presence of strong electrolytes （Noel, CaCl2 and Feel3） in feed relative to their presence in concentrate. Severe transport hindrance and efficiency loss were attributed to adsorption and allied physicochemical changes occurred with anion/cation exchange membranes （AEM/CEM） and these were confirmed through contact angle/Chronopotentiometry/AFM/EDX. Sluggish potential rise （Galvanostatic mode） in Chronopotentiometric analysis indicated diffusion limiting transport of organic acids influenced AEM resistance. XRD and EDX analysis indicated the presence of salt hydrates/ions （Ca2＋/Fe3＋） over CEM justifying the resistance buildup due to adsorption of multivalent metal ion（s） and salts.

Differences in Tree Species Diversity and Soil Nutrient Status in a Tropical Sacred Forest Ecosystem on Niyamgiri Hill Range,Eastern Ghats,India

We have quantitatively analyzed the tree species diversity with respect to soil nutrient status in three sites of a sacred forest ecosystem of Niyamgiri hill range, Eastern Ghats, India. Extensive field surveys and sampling were conducted in 3 sites of the hill range： Site 1 Pterocarpus dominated forest （PTF）（19°40＇02.2＇＇ N and 83°21＇23.1＇＇ E）, Site 2 Mangifera dominated forest （MAF）（19°40＇02.8＇＇ N and 83°21＇40.8＇＇ E） and Site 3 Mixed forest （MIF）（19°36＇47.1＂ N and 83°21＇02.7＇＇ E）. A total of 28 families, 42 genera, 46 tree species, and 286 individual trees were recorded on an area of0.6 ha. Tree density varied between 470 and 49o individuals ha and average basal area between 3.16 and l0.04 m2 ha-1. Shannon Index （H＇） ranged from 2.34 to 4.53, Simpson＇s Index ranged from 0.07 to o.09, and equitability Index ranged from 0.7 to 1.34. The number of individuals was highest in the girth at breast height （GBH） class of 50-7o cm. The soil nutrient status of the three forest types was related to tree species diversity. The soil pH value of the three sites reflected the slightly acidic nature of the area. Species diversity was positively correlated with organic carbon and phosphorus and negatively with nitrogen, EC and pH. The results of the current study may be helpful to further develop a conservation planfor tree species in tropical sacred forest ecosystems.

Role of remote sensing, geographic bioinformatics system and bioinformatics in kala-azar epidemiology

Visceral leishmaniasis or kala-azar is a potent parasitic infection causing death of thousands of people each year. Medicinal compounds currently available for the treatment of kala-azar have serious side effects and decreased efficacy owing to the emergence of resistant strains. The type of immune reaction is also to be considered in patients infected with Leishmania donovani （L. donovani）. For complete eradication of this disease, a high level modern research is currently being applied both at the molecular level as well as at the field level. The computational approaches like remote sensing, geographic information system （GIS） and bioinformatics are the key resources for the detection and distribution of vectors, patterns, ecological and environmental factors and genomic and proteomic analysis. Novel approaches like GIS and bioinformatics have been more appropriately utilized in determining the cause of visearal leishmaniasis and in designing strategies for preventing the disease from spreading from one region to another.

The effect of ethanol extract of Schima wallichii(SWE)was studied in the Swiss albino mice bearing Dalton's ascitic lymphoma(DAL)after nine consecutive days *** tumor cells were then extracted at 2,4,8,12 and 24 h post drug treatment for the estimation of glutathione(GSH),glutathione-s-transferase(GST),catalase(CAT),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and lipid *** found that tumor cells had higher amount of GSH,GST,CAT and SOD;Treating tumorized mice with SWE reduced the level of GSH and the activities of GST,CAT and SOD in a time dependent manner up to 24h post-treatment followed by an increased lipid *** liver function test revealed that aspartate aminotransferase(AST),and alanine aminotransferase(ALT)did not increase,indicating that it did not exert toxic effects on the *** assay of uric acid and creatinine were also in normal *** study indicated that tumor cells had higher amount of GSH,GST,CAT and SOD;the treatment of SWE reduced the level of GSH,GST,CAT and SOD,increased the lipid peroxidation at the same time,which may be responsible for its tumor cell killing ***,it did not produce biochemical stress in the liver of tumorized mice.

Guignard’s Constraint Qualification (GCQ) and Multiobjective Optimisation Problems

Investigation of optimality conditions has been one of the most interesting topics in the theory of multiobjective optimisation problems (MOP). To derive necessary optimality conditions of MOP, we consider assumptions called constraints qualifications. It is recognised that Guignard Constraint Qualification (GCQ) is the most efficient and general assumption for scalar objective optimisation problems;however, GCQ does not ensure Karush-Kuhn Tucker (KKT) necessary conditions for multiobjective optimisation problems. In this paper, we investigate the reasons behind that GCQ are not allowed to derive KKT conditions in multiobjective optimisation problems. Furthermore, we propose additional assumptions that allow one to use GCQ to derive necessary conditions for multiobjective optimisation problems. Finally, we also include sufficient conditions for multiobjective optimisation problems.

Cycloplegic Refraction in Children: A Complete Audit Cycle

Purpose: Use of appropriate cycloplegic agent is an essential area of management in children with strabismus and refractive error. This study was designed to audit our own department’s understanding and practice with respect to cycloplegia. Methods: Children in age group of 0 - 12 years with refractive errors and strabismus were evaluated with respect to four parameters: adherence to cycloplegic refraction (group-I), choice of cycloplegic agent (group-II), dosage of cycloplegia (group-III) and duration of cycloplegia (group-IV). Following the initial audit, the hospital audit committee evaluated the results;thereafter concerned staff was educated and aidememoires of the dilatation protocol were introduced;a second audit cycle was carried out after 3 months. Results: First and second audit cycle included 334 children (mean age 6.2 ± 2.2 years) and 436 children (mean age 7.25 ± 2.9 years) respectively. A statistically significant improvement was found in all four parameters in the second audit cycle: adherence to dilation protocol (82.3% in first cycle to 94.3% in second cycle;p = 0.001), choice of cycloplegic agent (77% in the first cycle to 94.8% in the second cycle;p = 0.001), dosage of cycloplegic agent (84% in the first cycle to 96.3% in the second cycle;p = 0.001) and duration of cycloplegic agents (65% in the first cycle to 97.5% in the second cycle;p = 0.001 for CTC and 71.8% in the first cycle to 98% in the second cycle;p = 0.001 for Tropicamide). Conclusions: A complete audit cycle demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in all four parameters related to cycloplegic refraction in children. Regular auditing coupled with targeted interventions aimed to maintain the “best practice guidelines” for determination of refractive errors in children could prove effective in improving standards of clinical practice.

A Note on Stability of Longitudinal Vibrations of an Inhomogeneous Beam

In this paper, we have considered an inhomogeneous beam with a damping distributed along the length of the beam. The beam is clamped at both ends and is assumed to vibrate longitudinally. We have estimated the total energy of the system at any time t. By constructing suitable Lyapunov functional, it is established directly that the energy of this system decays exponentially.

Uniform Exponential Stabilization for Flexural Vibrations of a Solar Panel

Here we study a problem of stabilization of the flexural vibrations or transverse vibrations of a rectangular solar panel. The dynamics of vibrations is governed by the fourth order Euler-Bernoulli beam equation. One end of the panel is held by a rigid hub and other end is totally free. Due to attachment of the hub, its dynamics leads to a non-standard equation. The exponential stabilization of the whole system is achieved by applying an active boundary control force only on the rigid hub. The result of uniform stabilization is obtained by means of an explicit form of exponential energy decay estimate.
