Fault movement during earth.uakes is a geotech.ical ph.nomenon th.eatening buried pipelines and with.th. potential to cause severe damage to critical infrastructures.Th.refore,effective prediction of pipe displacement is crucial for preventive management strategies.Th.s study aims to develop a fast,h.brid model for predicting vertical displacement of pipe networks wh.n th.y experience faulting.In th.s study,th. complex beh.vior of soil and a buried pipeline system subjected to a normal fault is analyzed by using an artificial neural network(ANN)to generate predictions th. beh.vior of th. soil wh.n different parameters of it are ch.nged.For th.s purpose,a finite element model is developed for a pipeline subjected to normal fault displacements.Th. data bank used for training th. ANN includes all th. critical soil parameters(coh.sion,internal friction angle,Young’s modulus,and faulting).Furth.rmore,a math.matical formula is presented,based on biases and weigh.s of th. ANN model.Experimental results sh.w th.t th. maximum error of th. presented formula is 2.03%,wh.ch.makes th. proposed tech.ique efficiently predict th. vertical displacement of buried pipelines and h.nce,h.lps to optimize th. upcoming pipeline projects.

Synergistic effect of adsorption and ph.tocatalytic degradation of oilfield-produced water by electrospun ph.tocatalytic fibers of Polystyrene/Nanorod-Graph.tic carbon nitride

Graph.tic carbon nitride with.nanorod structure(Nr-GCN)was synth.sized using melamine as a precursor with.ut any oth.r reagents by h.droth.rmal pretreatment meth.d.XRD,FTIR,SEM,N_(2)adsorption-desorption from BET,UV-Vis DRS spectroscopy,and ph.toluminescence were used to ch.racterize th. prepared samples.Also,th. ph.toelectroch.mical beh.vior of nanoparticles was studied by ph.tocurrent transient response and cyclic voltammetry analysis.Polystyrene(PS)fibrous mat was fabricated by electrospinning tech.ique and used as a support for th. stabilization of th. nanoparticles.Th. performance of th. synth.sized nanoparticles and ph.tocatalytic fibers(PS/Nr-GCN)was evaluated in oilfield-produced water treatment under visible ligh. irradiation.During th.s process,oil contaminants were adsorbed by h.droph.bic polystyrene fibers and simultaneously degraded by Nr-GCN.Th. removal efficiency of ch.mical oxygen demand(COD)h.s been obtained 96.6%and 98.4%by Nr-GCN and PS/Nr-GCN,respectively,at th. optimum conditions of ph.,ph.tocatalyst dosage 0.5 g/L,COD initial concentration 550 mg/L,and illumination time 150 min.Th. gas ch.omatograph.-mass spectroscopy analysis results sh.wed 99.3%removal of total petroleum h.drocarbons using ph.tocatalytic fibers of PS/Nr-GCN.Th. results demonstrated th.t th. GCN h.s outstanding features like controllable morph.logy,visible-ligh.-driven,and sh.wing h.gh.potential in oily wastewater remediation.Moreover,th. synergistic effect of adsorption and ph.tocatalytic degradation is an effective tech.ique in oilfield-produced water treatment.

Determining th. adsorption of sh.le gas on complex surfaces remains a ch.llenge in molecular simulation studies.Difficulties essentially stem from th. need to create a realistic sh.le structure model in terms of mineral h.terogeneityand multiplicity.Moreover,precise ch.racterization of th. competitive adsorption of h.drogen andmeth.ne in sh.le generally requires th. experimental determination of th. related adsorptive capacity.In th.sstudy,th. adsorption of adsorbates,meth.ne(Ch.(4)),and h.drogen(h.(2))on h.terogeneous sh.le surface modelsof Kaolinite,Orth.clase,Muscovite,Mica,C_(60),and Butane h.s been simulated in th. frame of a moleculardynamic’s numerical tech.ique.Th. results sh.w th.t th.se beh.viors are influenced by pressure and potentialenergy.On increasing th. pressure from 500 to 2000 psi,th. sorption effect for Ch.(4)significantly increasesbut sh.ws a decline at a certain stage(if compared to h.(2)).Th. research.findings also indicate th.t raw sh.leh.s a h.gh.r capacity to adsorb Ch.(4)compared to h.drogen.h.wever,in sh.le,th.s difference is negligible.

Objective: Th. aim of th. work described h.re was to evaluate th. role of contrast-enh.nced ultrasound (CEUS) in response evaluation for unresectable advanced h.patocellular carcinoma (h.C) treated with.tyrosine kinase inh.bitors (TKIs) plus anti-programmed cell death.protein-1 (PD-1) antibody th.rapy. Meth.ds: A prospective coh.rt of consecutive patients with.h.C wh. received combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody treatment for unresectable h.C between January 2022 and October 2022 was included in th.s study. Th. patients underwent unenh.nced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations before treatment and at follow-up. Ch.nges in th. largest diameters of th. target tumor on unenh.nced US and th. largest diameters of th. enh.ncing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with.unenh.nced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomograph. (MRI/CT) and modified RECIST (mRECIST) with.CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of 24 h.C patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrah.patic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of degree of necrosis in th. target tumors revealed no significant differences between CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for th. differentiation of responders from non-responders, th. agreement between RECIST version 1.1 of unenh.nced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coefficient = 0.233). Meanwh.le, th.re was a h.gh.degree of concordance between mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coefficient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS proved to be superior to baseline US and is comparable to CEMRI/CT in defining treatment outcome for combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody th.rapy. © 2023 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology

BACKGROUND Th. Limb Length.ning and Reconstruction Society(LLRS)is a premier orth.pedic specialty organization th.t promotes limb reconstruction for all ages.LLRS membersh.p ch.racteristics,h.wever,are poorly reported.Th.s study delineates orth.pedic surgeon LLRS members’demograph.c traits,academic ach.evement,leadersh.p attainment,and geograph.cal distribution across th. United States.AIM To inform aspiring orth.pedic professionals,as well as to promote growth.and diversity in both.th. LLRS organization and overarch.ng field.METh.DS Th.s cross-sectional study examined United States LLRS members’academic,leadersh.p,demograph.c,and geograph.cal attributes.After reviewing th. 2023 LLRS member directory,Google search.results were match.d to th. listings and appended to th. compiled data.Sex and eth.icity were evaluated visually utilizing retrieved images.Th. h.rsch.index(h.index)of academic activity,residency and fellowsh.p training,oth.r graduate degrees,leadersh.p positions,practice type(academic or non-academic),and spoken languages were categorized.LLRS members per state and capita determined geograph.c distribution.Th. Mann Wh.tney U test was applied to compare h.index between males and females,as well as to assess member differences pertaining to affiliation with.academic vs non-academic practice facilities.RESULTS Th. study included 101 orth.pedic surgeons,78(77.23%)Caucasian and 23(22.77%)non-Caucasian,79(78.22%)male and 22(21.78%)female.Surgeons with.DO degrees comprised only 3.96%(4)of th. coh.rt,wh.le th. vast majority h.ld MDs[96.04%(97)].Mean h.index was 10.55,with.male surgeons h.ving a significantly h.gh.r score(P=0.002).Most orth.pedic surgeons(88.12%,)practiced in academic centers.Of th.se professionals wh. occupied leadersh.p positions,14%were women,wh.le 86%were men.Additionally,19(37.25%)United States regions and th. Soil nutrient stoich.ometric ratios and th.ir influencing factors in mountainous areas of th. Ili River Valley

Studying th. soil stoich.ometric ratios and th. influencing factors of different altitude gradients in mountain ecosystems in arid zones is significant in revealing th. soil nutrient status and maintaining th. sustainable development of mountain ecosystems. In th.s paper, 13 sample plots were establish.d along th. elevation gradient in th. mountains of th. south.rn Ili River Valley, and soil in th. depth.of 0-20 cm was studied to investigate nutrient stoich.ometric ratios and th.ir influencing factors. Th. results sh.wed th.t: (1) Soil acidity gradually increased with.elevation. Organic carbon and total nitrogen contents are significantly h.gh.r in th. middle and h.gh.mountain belts th.n in th. low mountain belts, wh.le total ph.sph.rus and total potassium contents are opposite. (2) Due to altitudinal differences, th. carbon-to-nitrogen ratio is significantly h.gh.r in th. mid-alpine belt th.n in th. low and alpine belts; carbon and ph.sph.rus ratios are significantly h.gh.r in th. middle and h.gh.mountain belts th.n in th. middle and low mountain belts; carbon and potassium ratios are significantly h.gh.r in th. middle and h.gh.mountain belts th.n in th. low mountain belts; nitrogen-ph.sph.rus ratios are h.gh.r in th. alpine zone, but th.re is no major difference between th. transition zone and th. low mountain zone; nitrogen-potassium ratios are much.h.gh.r in th. alpine zone, wh.reas th.re is no significant difference between th. mid-alpine zone and th. transition zone; th. differences of ph.sph.rus/potassium ratios between altitudinal gradients are ignorable. (3) Th. dominant factors affecting th. stoich.ometric ratios of soil ph.sicoch.mical indicators are soil organic carbon (62.4%), total ph.sph.rus (15.9%), and total carbon (13.7%); wh.le th. major environmental factors are mean annual soil temperature (27.1%), vegetation index (11.2%), elevation (12.3%), and mean annual atmosph.ric temperature (3.4%). BACKGROUND Roux-en-Y gastric bypass(RYGB)is a widely recognized bariatric procedure th.t is particularly beneficial for patients with.class III obesity.It aids in significant weigh. loss and improves obesity-related medical conditions.Despite its effectiveness,postoperative care still h.s ch.llenges.Clinical evidence sh.ws th.t venous th.omboembolism(VTE)is a leading cause of 30-d morbidity and mortality after RYGB.Th.refore,a clear unmet need exists for a tailored risk assessment tool for VTE in RYGB candidates.AIM To develop and internally validate a scoring system determining th. individualized risk of 30-d VTE in patients undergoing RYGB.METh.DS Using th. 2016–2021 Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation Quality Improvement Program,data from 6526 patients(body mass index≥40 kg/m^(2))wh. underwent RYGB were analyzed.A backward elimination multivariate analysis identified predictors of VTE ch.racterized by pulmonary embolism and/or deep venous th.ombosis with.n 30 d of RYGB.Th. resultant risk scores were derived from th. coefficients of statistically significant variables.Th. performance of th. model was evaluated using receiver operating curves th.ough.5-fold cross-validation.RESULTS Of th. 26 initial variables,six predictors were identified.Th.se included a h.story of ch.onic obstructive pulmonary disease with.a regression coefficient(Coef)of 2.54(Ph.of stay(Coef 0.08,Ph.ombosis(Coef 1.61,Ph.moglobin A1c>7%(Coef 1.19,Ph.story(Coef 1.43,Ph.se variables were weigh.ed according to th.ir regression coefficients in an algorith. th.t was generated for th. model predicting 30-d VTE risk post-RYGB.Th. risk model's area under th. curve(AUC)was 0.79[95%confidence interval(CI):0.63-0.81],sh.wing good discriminatory power,ach.eving a sensitivity of 0.60 and a specificity of 0.91.With.ut training,th. same model performed satisfactorily in patients with.laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy

LPS and bacteria of h.pylori O2 th.n th. anti-h.O2G-2b IgG antibodies.Th.re is no cross-reaction between both.sera IgG antibodies with.LPS and bacteria of h.pylori O1,O6,and E.coli.Th. results demonstrate th. trisacch.ride h.O2G-3a is a promising candidate for h.pylori vaccine development.

Th. Substructure of Elementary Particles Demonstrated by th. I-Th.ory

Present studies in ph.sics assume th.t elementary particles are th. building blocks of all matter, and th.t th.y are zero-dimensional objects wh.ch.do not occupy space. Th. new I-Th.ory predicts th.t elementary particles do indeed h.ve a substructure, th.ee dimensions, and occupy space, being composed of fundamental particles called I-particles. In th.s article we identify th. substructural pattern of elementary particles and define th. quanta of energy th.t form each.elementary particle. We demonstrate th.t th. substructure comprises two classes of quanta wh.ch.we call “attraction quanta” and “repulsion quanta”. We create a model th.t defines th. rest-mass energy of each.elementary particle and can predict new particles. Lastly, in order to incorporate th.s knowledge into th. contemporary models of science, a revised periodic table is proposed.
