ZBTB7A governs estrogen receptor alpha expression in breast cancer

ZBTB7A, a member of the POZ/BTB and Krüppel （POK） family of transcription factors, has been shown to have a context-dependent role in cancer development and progression. The role of ZBTB7A in estrogen receptor alpha （ERα）-positive breast cancer is largely unknown. Approximately 70% of breast cancers are classified as ERα-positive. ERα carries out the biological effects of estrogen and its expression level dictates response to endocrine therapies and prognosis for breast cancer patients. In this study, we find that ZBTB7A transcriptionally regulates ERα expression in ERα-positive breast cancer cell lines by binding to the ESR1 promoter leading to increased transcription of ERα. Inhibition of ZBTB7A in ERα-positive cells results in decreased estrogen responsiveness as demonstrated by diminished estrogen-response element-driven luciferase reporter activity, induction of estrogen target genes, and estrogen-stimulated growth. We also report that ERα potentiates ZBTB7A expression via a post-translational mechanism, suggesting the presence of a positive feedback loop between ZBTB7A and ERα, conferring sensitivity to estrogen in breast cancer. Clinically, we find that ZBTB7A and ERα are often co-expressed in breast cancers and that high ZBTB7A expression correlates with improved overall and relapse-free survival for breast cancer patients. Importantly, high ZBTB7A expression predicts a more favorable outcome for patients treated with endocrine therapies. Together, these findings demonstrate that ZBTB7A contributes to the transcriptional program maintaining ERα expression and potentially an endocrine therapy-responsive phenotype in breast cancer.

Degradation of refractory organics in concentrated leachate by the Fenton process: Central composite design for process optimization

The primary aim of this study is inert COD removal from leachate nanofiltration concentrate because of its high concentration of resistant organic *** this framework,this study focuses on the treatab.lity of leachate nanofiltration concentrate through Fenton oxidation and optimization of process parameters to reach the maximum pollutant removal by using response surface methodology(RSM).Initial pH,Fe2+concentration,H_(2)O_(2)/Fe^(2+)molar ratio and oxidation time are selected as the independent variables,whereas total COD,color,inert COD and UV254 removal are selected as the *** to the ANOVA results,the R^(2) values of all responses are found to be over 95%.Under the optimum conditions determined by the model(pH:3.99,Fe^(2+):150 mmol/L,H_(2)O_(2)/Fe^(2+):3.27 and oxidation time:84.8 min),the maximum COD removal efficiency is determined as 91.4%by the *** color,inert COD and UV254 removal efficiencies are determined to be 99.9%,97.2%and 99.5%,respectively,by the model,whereas the total COD,color,inert COD and UV254 removal efficiencies are found respectively to be 90%,96.5%,95.3%and 97.2%,experimentally under the optimum operating *** Fenton process improves the biodegradab.lity of the leachate NF concentrate,increasing the BOD5/COD ratio from the value of 0.04 to the value of *** operational cost of the process is calculated to be 0.238€/g COD_(removed).The results indicate that the Fenton oxidation process is an efficient and economical technology in improvement of the biological degradab.lity of leachate nanofiltration concentrate and in removal of resistant organic pollutants.

This study is a research on the utilization of dairy industry by-products in the practical production and long-term preservation of industrial microbial ***,lyophilized cultures were obtained by freeze-drying of Lactobacillus plantarum bacteria in large quantities and for a constant period of time in skimmed milk-based medium containing 5%acid casein,rennet casein,whey and demineralized *** cryoprotectants did not have significant protection against freeze-drying process,moreover,the use of rennet casein significantly reduced *** efficiency of the preservatives in preserving the viab.lity during storage was very successful compared to the control ***-enriched cultures had high water activity and moisture,but high viab.lity was maintained during *** powder morphologies of the cultures were differentiated by the use of different *** sizes of the cultures were parallel to the moisture *** size and distribution increased with *** thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)analysis,it was determined that the addition of casein protein increased the degradation temperature of the *** production of freeze-dried cultures became difficult with the use of ***,it was generally concluded that the protective properties of skimmed milk used for the preservation of *** could be improved by the addition of dairy by-products as a protective agent.

The effects of elevated-CO_2 on physiological performance of Bryopsis plumosa

An increase in the level of atmospheric carbon dioxide （CO2） and the resultant rise in CO2 in seawater alter the inorganic carbon concentrations of seawater. This change, known as ocean acidification, causes lower pH in seawater and may affect the physiology of seaweed species. Accordingly, the main goal of the current study was to determine the physiological responses of Bryopsis plumosa to elevated-CO2. The results indicated that photosynthesis of B. plumosa was insignificantly affected to elevated-CO2, but photosynthetic pigment contents and phenolics were significantly decreased. The results obtained from the research reveal that B. plumosa may become physiologically advanced when exposed to CO2-induced ocean acidification. In particular, B. plumosa may be more able to compete with calcifying algae when it will become future predicted CO2 scenario.

A Collocation Technique via Pell-Lucas Polynomials to Solve Fractional Differential EquationModel for HIV/AIDS with Treatment Compartment

In this study,a numerical method based on the Pell-Lucas polynomials(PLPs)is developed to solve the fractional order HIV/AIDS epidemic model with a treatment *** HIV/AIDS mathematical model with a treatment compartment is divided into five classes,namely,susceptible patients(S),HIV-positive individuals(I),individuals with full-blown AIDS but not receiving ARV treatment(A),individuals being treated(T),and individuals who have changed their sexual habits sufficiently(R).According to the method,by utilizing the PLPs and the collocation points,we convert the fractional order HIV/AIDS epidemic model with a treatment compartment into a nonlinear system of the algebraic ***,the error analysis is presented for the Pell-Lucas approximation *** aim of this study is to observe the behavior of five populations after 200 days when drug treatment is applied to HIV-infectious and full-blown AIDS *** demonstrate the usefulness of this method,the applications are made on the numerical example with the help of *** addition,four cases of the fractional order derivative(p=1,p=0.95,p=0.9,p=0.85)are examined in the range[0,200].Owing to applications,we figured out that the outcomes have quite decent ***,we understand that the errors decrease when the value of N *** figures in this study are created in *** outcomes indicate that the presented method is reasonably sufficient and correct.

In vitro Antigenotoxicity of Ulva rigida C. Agardh (Chlorophyceae) Extract against Induction of Chromosome aberration, Sister Chromatid Exchange and Micronuclei by Mutagenic Agent MMC

Objective To determine the in vitro possible clastogenic and cytotoxic activities of Ulva rigida crude extracts （URE）, and identify their antigenotoxic and protective effects on chemotherapeutic agent mitomycine-C （MMC）. Methods Anti-clastogenic and anti-genotoxic activities of Ulva rigida crude extracts （URE） were studied using chromosome aberration （CA）, sister chromatid exchange （SCE）, and micronuclei （MN） tests in human lymphocytes cultured in vitro. Results The chromosome aberration, sister chromatid exchange or micronuclei tests showed that URE at concentrations of 10, 20, and 40 lag/mL had no clastogenic activity in human lymphocyte cell culture. Three doses of URE significantly decreased the number of chromosomal aberrations and the frequencies of SCE and MN when compared with the culture treated with MMC （P〈0.0001）. Conclusion Although URE itself is not a clastogenic or cytotoxic substance, it possesses strong antigenotoxic, anti-clastogenic, and protective effects on MMC in vitro.

Countries face the risk of natural resource curse because of making their economic growth excessively dependent on natural *** excessive resource dependence causes such a risk,it is inevitable that resource-rich countries will need resource rent up to a certain level of economic *** the other hand,transferring the wealth achieved after this maturity level to productive investment areas also reduces the resource dependency levels of *** this context,countries that capture the possible inverted U-shaped relationship between economic growth and resource dependence can escape the *** on this,the aim of this research is to determine the validity of the Kuznets type relationship between resource dependence and economic growth for the first time in the *** nations that rely heavily on natural resources are used as a sample for *** countries with a share of total resource rent in national revenue greater than 25%are taken into consideration throughout the selection process for these *** novel panel data methodologies,the effects of capital accumulation,public spending,foreign direct investment,and economic growth on the dependence on natural resources is examined from 1993 to *** results reveal that capital accumulation reduces resource dependency while foreign investments and government size increases *** addition,the Resource-Based Kuznets curve concept is supported by empirical data demonstrating an inverted-U-shaped relationship between economic growth and resource dependence for these *** thresholds derived from the parameters show that Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan are well beyond this *** Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo,on the other hand,remain a long way from this ***,Iraq,Mongolia,Iran,and Azerbaijan have national incomes that are close at the threshold.
