The reaction of the tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene derivatives 1a,b with benzoylisothiocyanate (2) afforded the thiourea derivatives 3a,b. Cyclization of the latter products gave the annulated products 4a,b. Compounds 3a,b reacted with either hydrazine hydrate (5a) or phenyl hydrazine (5b) afforded compounds 7a-d which underwent cyclization for compounds 7a,c afforded compound 9. On the other hand compounds 4a,b reacted with either hydrazine hydrate (5a) or phenyl hydrazine (5b) afforded compounds 6a-d a second pathway was applied to synthesize compound 6c which underwent cyclization afforded compound 9. Also compounds 4a,b reacted with either phenacyl bromide (10) afforded compounds 11a,b or ethylchloroacetae (12) compounds 13a,b were produced. The latter products reacted with each hydrazine hydrate (5a) and phenyl hydrazine (5b) afforded compounds 14a-d. Their antitumor activities were tested using three different cell lines.

BACKGROUND Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage is an emergency that can lead to a high mortality rate and many severe *** is critical to make a rapid radiological evaluation of ruptured intracranial aneurysms(RIAs)to determine the appropriate surgical *** To assess the reliability of computed tomography angiography(CTA)in assessing different features of ruptured intracranial aneurysm and its impact on patient *** The final cohort of this study consisted of 146 patients with RIAs(75 male and 71 female)who underwent cerebral *** age ranged from 25 to 80,and the mean age±SD was 57±8.95 *** readers were asked to assess different features related to the aneurysm and perianeurysmal ***-observer agreement was measured using kappa *** data extracted from non-contrast computed tomography and CTA were considered to categorize the study population into two groups according to the recommended therapeutic *** The inter-observer agreement of both reviewers was excellent for the detection of aneurysms(K=0.95,P=0.001),aneurysm location(K=0.98,P=0.001),and(K=0.98,P=0.001),morphology(K=0.92,P=0.001)and margins(K=0.95,P=0.001).There was an excellent interobserver agreement for the measurement of aneurysm size(K=0.89,P=0.001),neck(K=0.85,P=0.001),and dome-to-neck ratio(K=0.98,P=0.001).There was an excellent inter-observer agreement for the detection of other aneurysm-related features such as thrombosis(K=0.82,P=0.001),calcification(K=1.0,P=0.001),bony landmark(K=0.89,P=0.001)and branch incorporation(K=0.91,P=0.001)as well as perianeurysmal findings including vasospasm(K=0.91,P=0.001),perianeurysmal cyst(K=1.0,P=0.001)and associated vascular lesions(K=0.83,P=0.001).Based on imaging features,87 patients were recommended to have endovascular treatment,while surgery was recommended in 59 patients.71.2%of the study population underwent the recommended *** CTA is a reproducible promising

Objective:Early treatment of acute ischemia of the heart by performing immediate percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)to restore blood fl ow in patients with the clinical presentation of an acute coronary syndrome and more specifi cally with ST-elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI)can save *** study aims to identify the mean time(door to balloon time and fi rst contact to balloon time)to primary PCI for STEMI patients and to assess the percentage of primary PCI and its success rate in ***:A registry study of patients presenting to cardiac centers in Egypt was designed,where patients’basic characteristics,the treatment strategy,and the door to balloon time and the fi rst contact to balloon time were ***:One thousand six hundred fi fty STEMI patients with a mean age of 57 years were included in the *** transfer for primary PCI was the most used treatment strategy,representing 74.6%of all treatment strategies *** door to balloon time and the fi rst contact to balloon time were 50 and 60 minutes,respectively,with a primary PCI success rate of 65.1%.Conclusion:The registry study results showed a marked improvement by implementation of the best treatment strategy with respect to the time factor to achieve a better outcome for STEMI patients in Egypt.

Purpose: Is to evaluate the accuracy of fused 3D time-of-flight (TOF) MR angiography and 3D Steady-State sequence (FIESTA) versus 3D contrast-enhanced T1 weighted images in evaluation of neurovascular compression via an inter-observer agreement protocol. Methods: Patients presented with trigeminal neuralgia, tinnitus, or facial hemispasm were examined using 3D-TOF-MRA, 3D-FIESTA, and 3D contrast-enhanced T1WI of the cerebellopontine angle to assess neurovascular compression. Two independent readers assessed the location, signal alteration, offending vascular structure, and grade of neurovascular compression using fused 3D-TOF-MRA and 3D-FIESTA versus contrast-enhanced T1 weighted images. The Kappa test for interobserver agreement was done. Results: The final study cohort consisted of 56 patients (42 females and 14 males) with a mean age of 38.25 ± 1.94. AICA was the offending vessel for 32 (57.1%) patients. The most common offending nerve was the trigeminal nerve in 26 patients, followed by facial/vestibulocochlear complex in 18 patients, and solely the 8th nerve in 12 patients. All three grades of compression were encountered in this study with percentages of 48.2% (27/56), 30.3% (17/56), and 21.4% (12/56) for grades I, II, III respectively. Fused TOF and steady-state images, and contrast-enhanced images showed perfect agreement for detection of the side of compression, the relation between nerve and vascular loop, offended neural segment, and offending vessel, while showing good agreement regarding the degree of compression. Conclusion: Fused TOF and steady-state images provide sufficient data to diagnose and grade microvascular compression syndromes comparable to contrast-enhanced images.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma is the third leading cause of tumor related mortality and develops mostly in patients with chronic liver disease and liver cirrhosis. Human hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is produced in various organs of the body and is characterized as a multifunctional factor with various biologic activities. Aim: Our aim was to investigate the predictive factors of recurrence specially the role of HGF in patients with HCC treated with TACE. Patients and Methods: one hundred HCC patients treated by TACE who achieved complete response were included and divided into two groups according to disease free survival (DFS) status at 1 year: the non-early recurrence (NER) group (1) and the early recurrence (ER) group (2). align:justify;"> Background: Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological conditions with about 65 million people affected worldwide. It is also a common condition in children, where its prevalence is approximately 3.2 - 5.5/1000 in the developed world. Children with epilepsy (CWE) experience not only seizures but also multiple cognitive, behavioral, and emotional problems. ADHD is one of the more common comorbidities of childhood epilepsy. Objectives: To discuss the relationship between childhood epilepsy and comorbidities especially ADHD. Study Design: This is a prospective observational analytical cross-sectional study carried out on one hundred and fifteen patients at Ain Shams University and Nasr-city Health Insurance out-patient clinics, Cairo, Egypt fulfilling the inclusion criteria. Patients were selected by simple random sample. Results: ADHD is very common epilepsy comorbidity in Egyptian epileptic children with under-diagnosis and treatment. Conclusion: Frequent assessment for ADHD in epileptic children is mandatory for better quality of life.

Parkinson’s disease(PD),one of whose symptoms is dysphonia,is a prevalent neurodegenerative *** use of outdated diagnosis techniques,which yield inaccurate and unreliable results,continues to represent an obstacle in early-stage detection and diagnosis for clinical professionals in the medical *** solve this issue,the study proposes using machine learning and deep learning models to analyze processed speech signals of patients’voice *** of these processed speech signals were obtained and experimented on by random forest and logistic regression *** were highly successful,with 90%accuracy produced by the random forest classifier and 81.5%by the logistic regression ***,a deep neural network was implemented to investigate if such variation in method could add to the *** proved to be effective,as the neural network yielded an accuracy of nearly 92%.Such results suggest that it is possible to accurately diagnose early-stage PD through merely testing patients’*** research calls for a revolutionary diagnostic approach in decision support systems,and is the first step in a market-wide implementation of healthcare software dedicated to the aid of clinicians in early diagnosis of PD.

Studies in recent years have shown that aquatic pollution by microplastics(MPs)can be considered to pose additional stress to amphibian ***,our knowledge of how MPs affect amphibians is very rudimentary,and even more limited is our understanding of their effects in combination with other emerging ***,we aimed to evaluate the possible toxicity of polyethylene MPs(PE-MPs)(alone or in combination with a mix of pollutants)on the health of Physalaemus cuvieri *** 30 days of exposure,multiple biomarkers were measured,including morphological,biometric,and developmental indices,behavioral parameters,mutagenicity,cytotoxicity,antioxidant and cholinesterase responses,as well as the uptake and accumulation of PE-MPs in *** on the results,there was no significant change in any of the parameters measured in tadpoles exposed to treatments,but induced stress was observed in tadpoles exposed to PE-MPs combined with themixture of pollutants,reflecting significant changes in physiological and biochemical *** principal component analysis(PCA)and integrated biomarker response(IBR)assessment,effects induced by pollutants in each test group were distinguished,confirming that the exposure of *** tadpoles to the PE-MPs in combination with a mix of emerging pollutants induces an enhanced stress response,although the uptake and accumulation of PE-MPs in these animalswas ***,our study provides newinsight into the danger to amphibians of MPs coexisting with other pollutants in aquatic environments.

Background: Continually rising prevalence of obesity and overweight in children and adolescents is a major public health concern. This is due to its various and serious health hazards on one side and its preventable nature on the other side. This study aims at identification of prevalence of overweight and obesity and its risk factors among children between 6 - 14 years of age in Sohag, Egypt. Method: A cross sectional study was conducted on 711 school children between 6 - 14 years in four months’ period from February to May 2016. Weight and height of the studied children were measured to calculate BMI, which was compared with standard Egyptian growth charts for determining overweight and obesity. Then a questionnaire containing data about socio demographic, parental obesity, early life and dietary risk factors was completed by the children’s parents. Result: Out of 711 studied children, 117 (16.5%) were overweight and 104 (14.6%) were obese. Residing in urban area, having an obese parent or both of them, low level of maternal education, being on formula feeding during early life and lack of fresh vegetables and fruits in diets were significant risk factors for overweight and obesity in the studied children (P value < 0.05). Conclusion: Improperly educated mothers together with sedentary life style manifested in obesity among the parents and lack of sport practice among children constituted the majors risk factors for childhood obesity. This emphasizes the need for increased health awareness of the community about the importance of proper nutrition and physical activity.
