a.simple, a.cura.e a.d precise spectrophotometric method ha. been proposed for the determina.ion of eleven cepha.osporins, na.ely;cefa.lor monohydra.e, cefa.roxil monohydra.e, cefa.exin a.hydrous, cefra.ine a.hydrous, cefota.ime sodium, cefopera.one sodium, ceftria.one sodium, cefta.idime penthydra.e, cefa.olin sodium, cefixime a.d cefpodoxime pro- xetil in bulk drug a.d in pha.ma.eutica. formula.ions. The method depends on hydrolysis of the studied drugs using 0.5M Na.H a. 100°C a.d subsequent rea.tion of the formed sulfide ions with NBD-Cl (4-chloro-7-nitrobenzo-2-oxa.1, 3-dia.ole) to form a.yellow-colored chromogen mea.ured a. 390 nm. Different va.ia.les a.fecting the rea.tion (e.g. Na.H concentra.ion, hydrolysis time, NBD-Cl concentra.ion a.d diluting solvent) were studied a.d optimized. Under the optimum conditions, linea. rela.ionships with good correla.ion coefficients (0.9990- 0.9999) were found in the ra.ge of 5-160 μg mL-1 for a.l studied drugs. The limits of a.sa. detection a.d qua.titia.ion ra.ged from 0.289 to 5.867 a.d from 0.878 to 17.778 μg mL-1;respectively. The a.cura.y a.d precision of the proposed method were sa.isfa.tory. The method wa. successfully a.plied for a.a.ysis of the studied drugs in their pha.ma.eutica. formula.ions a.d the recovery percenta.es ra.ged from 96.6 to 103.5%.

INTRODUCTION Preserva.ion of the freshwa.er resources is a.big cha.lenge for a.hea.thy civilized *** wa.er consumption increa.ed more tha. twice the popula.ion increa.e ra.e,drinking wa.er pollution a.d freshwa.er shorta.e increa.ed dra.a.ica.ly during the la.t deca.es(Ka. et a..,2012;Mueller a.d Nowa.k,2010).Only 0.01%of freshwa.er resources a.e suita.le for huma. needs(Ra.hid et a..,2019),even in the a.ea. of a.unda.t freshwa.er(Yeston et a..,2006).By 2050,over 5 billion of the world popula.ion will be under severe fresh wa.er supply conditions due to clima.e cha.ge a.d urba.iza.ion exa.erba.e(Sea.y,2019;Oves et a..,2015;Ka. et a..,2012).Currently,one billion people drink unhygienic wa.er,especia.ly in developing countries which lea.s to severe wa.erborne disea.es which might ca.se dea.h(a.iniya. et a..,2018).Twelve million people die every yea. due to this problem(Zha. et a..,2019;Oves et a..,2015).

The method ba.ed on a.kinetic investiga.ion of the rea.tion of the free ca.boxylic a.id group of the drug with a.mixture of pota.sium ioda.e a.d pota.sium iodide a. room tempera.ure to form yellow coloured triiodide ions. The rea.tion wa. followed up spectrophotometrica.ly by mea.uring the increa.e in a.sorba.ce a. 352 nm a. a.function of time. The initia. ra.e, fixed time, va.ia.le time a.d ra.e-consta.t methods were a.opted for constructing the ca.ibra.ion curves but fixed time method ha. been found to be more a.plica.le. The a.a.ytica. performa.ce of the method, in terms of a.cura.y a.d precision, wa. sta.istica.ly va.ida.ed;the results were sa.isfa.tory. The method ha. been successfully a.plied to the determina.ion of the studied drugs in commercia. pha.ma.eutica. formula.ions. Sta.istica. compa.ison of the results with a.well esta.lished reported method showed excellent a.- reement a.d proved tha. there is no significa.t difference in the a.cura.y a.d precision.

Hydra.ion cha.a.teristics of Portla.d cement blended with cla.s F fly a.h in the presence of two different types of superpla.ticizers, na.ely sodium lignosulphona.e (LS) a.d na.htha.ene sulphona.e-forma.dehyde condensa.e (NSF) wa. studied using different experimenta. techniques. Superpla.ticized blended Portla.d cement pa.tes were prepa.ed using the va.ues of sta.da.d wa.er of consistency with different a.ditions of ea.h types of superpla.ticizers used. Pa.tes were hydra.ed for different time interva.s under norma. curing conditions. The results indica.e tha. both of superpla.ticizers increa.e the worka.ility a.d reduce the sta.da.d wa.er of consistency. This results in a. improvement in the mecha.ica. properties of the superpla.ticized blended cement pa.tes a. a.l a.es of the hydra.ion-ha.dening process. Na.htha.ene sulphona.e-forma.dehyde condensa.e wa. found to ha. the higher efficiency in improving the mecha.ica. properties of the ha.dened pa.tes tha. tha. of sodium lignosulphona.e superpla.ticizer.

Four sweetpota.o (Ipomoea.ba.a.a. (L.) La..) cultiva.s grown in a.exa.dria. Egypt, including Monofya.6, Monofya.66, a.eeis, a.d Bea.rega.d were cooked using four different home-cooking methods (boiling, ba.ing, microwa.ing, a.d deep-frying). The a.tioxida.t contents (tota. phenolics by Folin-Denis, a.d individua. phenolic a.ids by HPLC) a. well a. the a.tioxida.t a.tivity determined by reducing power (RP), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydra.yl (DPPH), a.d 2,2’-a.inobis(3-ethyl-benzothia.oline-6-sulfonic a.id) (a.TS) were mea.ured in this study. Results indica.ed tha. tota. phenolic contents of ra. flesh tissue by Folin-Denis ra.ged from 0.53 to 0.87 mg chlorogenic a.id equiva.ent (mg Cha.)/g dry weight ba.is (dw). The RP ra.ged between 0.1 a.d 0.25 mg Cha./g dw, DPPH a.d a.TS ra.ica. sca.enging a.tivities va.ied from 1.10 to 1.72 a.d 0.85 to 1.51 μmol trolox equiva.ent (TE)/g dw, respectively. Therma. processing significa.tly (P ≤ 0.05) increa.ed the tota. phenolic content, a. well a. individua. phenolic a.ids a.d a.tioxida.t ca.a.ity of a.l the cultiva.s under study. In this respect, deep-frying exhibited the highest increment a.ong the four processing methods. The most a.unda.t individua. phenolic a.ids in processed flesh roots tissues were chlorogenic a.id followed by 3,5-dica.feoylquinic a.id. Tota. phenolic contents were highly correla.ed with RP, DPPH, a.d a.TS, a.so the correla.ion between the DPPH a.d a.TS va.ues were significa.tly high.
