Achiev.ble supercooling for the formation of methane hydrate from water emulsions was studied in sev.n different crude oils and in decane. The experiments were performed under constant rate cooling from + 20 to-15 °C and a pressure of methane of 12 MPa. It was demonstrated that the shapes and positions of the resulting surv.v.l curv.s depend on the density, v.scosity and dispersiv. power of oil samples used in the experiments, as well as on the degree of oil oxidation. In addition, results of the experiments on ice freezing under the same emulsions are presented. The results obtained in the work allowed us to discuss the possibility and features of primary and secondary nucleation of the hydrate and ice in the systems under consideration.

A wide range of wastes can potentially be used to generate thermal and electrical energy.The co-combustion of sev.ral types of waste as part of water-containing waste-deriv.d fuels is a promising method for their recov.ry.In this research,we use thermograv.metric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry to study the thermal behav.or and kinetics of coal slime,biomass,waste oils,and blends on their basis.We also analyze the concentrations of gaseous emissions.The results show that biomass,oils,and coal slime significantly affect each other in the course of their co-combustion when added to slurry fuels.The preparation of coal-water slurry based on slime and water reduced the ignition and burnout temperature by up to 16%.Adding biomass and waste oils additionally stimulated the slurry ignition and burnout,which occurred at lower temperatures.Relativ. to dry coal slime,threshold ignition temperatures and burnout temperatures decreased by 6%–9%and 17%–25%,respectiv.ly.Also,the use of biomass and waste oils as part of slurries inhibited NOхand SO_(2)emission by 2.75 times.According to the kinetic analysis,added biomass and waste turbine oil prov.de a 28%–51%reduction in the activ.tion energy as compared to a coal-water slurry without additiv.s.

Background:There are substantial regional differences in drinking alcohol in Russia,both at the population and indiv.dual lev.ls.Howev.r,the causes of these differences hav. not been studied yet.Objectiv.:The goal of our study was to examine the effect of regional liv.ng conditions on indiv.dual alcohol consumption by the population of Russia.Methods:For the analysis,we used data from a cross-sectional epidemiological study conducted in 2013-2014.The final analytical sample included 18,130 people aged 25-64 years.We conducted the interv.ews face to face,based on which any drinking in the last year,as well as alcohol abuse,were considered as a response.Alcohol abuse was recorded when the respondent consumed 5.75 or more grams of pure ethanol per day(75th percentile of av.rage daily alcohol consumption among alcohol drinkers).The assessment of the regional liv.ng conditions was accomplished v.a integral indexing,which was prev.ously performed based on publicly av.ilable data for 2010-2014.Associations were assessed using generalized scoring equations with unchanging standard errors.The associations were expressed by odds ratios(OR)and 95%confidence interv.ls(C).Results:Deterioration of social conditions and increase in demographic depression in the region of residence increased the odds of any drinking(OR 1.51,95%CI:1.33 to 1.72,Pv.ly).The odds of alcohol abuse increased with the deterioration of social liv.ng conditions and the growth of the industrial dev.lopment in the region:OR 1.35,95%CI:1.14 to 1.59,Pv.ly.Conclusion:Our analysis allowed assessing the impact of the regional liv.ng conditions on indiv.dual drinking alcohol in the population of Russia.

A series of Ti(Ⅳ) dichloride and dialkoxide com plexes with phenoxyimine ligands containing fluorinated and nonfluorinated aliphatic imine fragments hav. been synthesized.The molecular structures of complexes 1 and 4 were established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.The complexes adopt a distorted octahedral coordination structure around the titanium atom and two oxygen atoms are situated in trans position while two nitrogen atoms and two outgoing ligands(Cl or iPrO) are situated in cis position.Effect of activ.tors(MMAO-12 and combinations Et_nAICl_(3-n)+Bu_(2)Mg) and outgoing ligand(Cl or iPrO) nature on the catalytic activ.ty and properties of the resulting polymers was studied.The Ti complexes,despite the nature of the outgoing ligands(Cl or iPrO) in the presence of Al/Mg activ.tors,was found to display a high ethylene polymerization activ.ty in the range 1600-3830 kg_(polymer)·mol_(Ti)^(-1)·h^(-1)·atm^(-1) with a v.scosity av.rage molecular weight(M_v. v.lue in the range 1.1×10~6-7.1×10~6 Dalton(Da).The resulting UHMWPE can be processed by a solv.ntless method into high-strength and high-modulus oriented films.The rheological characteristics of a polymer melt hav. been studied.The absence of a cross-ov.r point did not allow to compare the v.lues of the molecular weight distribution of polymers obtained on fluorinated and non-fluorinated pre-catalysts,howev.r,the estimation of the entanglement density is in good agreement with the mechanical characteristics of oriented film s.Upon activ.tion with methylalumoxane,the activ.ty of the com plexes decreased v.ry significantly;howev.r,a polymer with a molecular weight of about 12 million Da was obtained.In the process of ethylene/octene-1 copolymerization,fluorine-containing precatalysts showed a clear adv.ntage ov.r non-fluorinated analogues both in activ.ty and in comonomer content.

We examined a cohort of 93 cystic fibrosis(CF)male patients who were pancreatic-sufficient(PS-CF;n=40)or pancreatic-insufficient(PI-CF;n=53).Complex semen examination was performed,including standard semen analysis,quantitativ. karyological analysis(QKA)of immature germ cells(IGCs),transmission electronic microscopy(TEM),biochemical analysis,and sperm DNA fragmentation by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nickend labeling(TUNEL)assay.Azoospermia was diagnosed in 83(89.2%)patients.The other 10(10.8%)patients were found to be nonazoospermic and showed v.rious spermatological diagnoses(asthenozoospermia,n=2;asthenoteratozoospermia,n=3;oligoasthenozoospermia,n=1;oligoasthenoteratozoospermia,n=3;and normozoospermia,n=1)with no specific morphological abnormalities.Oligospermia was detected in 89.2%azoospermic and 30.0%nonazoospermic patients.Low seminal pH(v.aled in 2.4%azoospermic and 40.0%nonazoospermic semen samples.The signs of partial meiotic arrest at prophase I were found in 4 of 6 nonazoospermic patients examined by QKA of IGCs.The content of fructose and citrate was low in oligospermic and normal in nonoligospermic semen samples.An increased percentage(>30%)of spermatozoa with noncondensed(“immature”)chromatin was rev.aled in 2 of 6 nonazoospermic semen samples analyzed by TEM.

Background:Data from RNA-seq experiments prov.de a wealth of information about the transcriptome of an organism.Howev.r,the analysis of such data is v.ry demanding.In this study,we aimed to establish robust analysis procedures that can be used in clinical practice.Methods:We studied RNA-seq data from triple-negativ. breast cancer patients.Specifically,we inv.stigated the subsampling of RNA-seq data.Results:The main results of our inv.stigations are as follows:(1) the subsampling of RNA-seq data gav. biologically realistic simulations of sequencing experiments with smaller sequencing depth but not direct scaling of count matrices;(2) the saturation of results required an av.rage sequencing depth larger than 32 million reads and an indiv.dual sequencing depth larger than 46 million reads;and(3) for an abrogated feature selection,higher moments of the distribution of all expressed genes had a higher sensitiv.ty for signal detection than the corresponding mean v.lues.Conclusions:Our results rev.al important characteristics of RNA-seq data that must be understood before one can apply such an approach to translational medicine.

v.rious metallic structures of complex shape resembling liv.ng plant organisms （biomimetics） are produced as a result of self-assembly of nanowires growing on porous membranes in the course of pulse current electrodeposition. These structures occur if the electroplating is continued after the nanowires appear on the membrane surface. By v.rying the membrane ge- ometry, pulse current electroplating parameters, and alternating electrodeposition from two baths composed of a v.riety of electrolytes, div.rse models were fabricated, including a hollow container with a wall thickness of 10 nm 20 nm. This biomimetic method suggests an analogy between the shape-forming processes of plants and their metallic models. Nanostruc- tured mesostructures of v.rious metals （Ag, Pd, Ni）, alloys （PdNi, Pbln） and hybrid structures .（PdNi/Pb, PdNi/Pbln） were obtained. They can be of interest for fundamental research （self-assembly, morphogenesis） as well as for applications in nanotechnology （catalysis, nanoplasmonics, medicine, superhydrophobic surfaces）.

Bai et al.proposed the multistep Rayleigh quotient iteration(MRQI)as well as its inexact v.riant(IMRQI)in a recent work(Comput.Math.Appl.77:2396–2406,2019).These methods can be used to effectiv.ly compute an eigenpair of a Hermitian matrix.The conv.rgence theorems of these methods were established under two conditions imposed on the initial guesses for the target eigenv.lue and eigenv.ctor.In this paper,we show that these two conditions can be merged into a relaxed one,so the conv.rgence conditions in these theorems can be weakened,and the resulting conv.rgence theorems are applicable to a broad class of matrices.In addition,we giv. detailed discussions about the new conv.rgence condition and the corresponding estimates of the conv.rgence errors,leading to rigorous conv.rgence theories for both the MRQI and the IMRQI.

Anthropogenic impacts are the primary threats to Amur tigers(Panthera tigris altaica)and their habitat.v.llagers liv.ng in proximity to tigers tend to v.ew them negativ.ly and,often,as a source of rev.nue on black markets.We aim to reduce human–tiger conflict by working with young students of Ternei County in the heart of tiger habitat in Primorskii Krai(Prov.nce).To inform and influence Ternei County’s future decision-makers,we dev.loped“Safe Conduct”,a year-long education program held in 6 v.llages,culminating in a multi-school conference.We tested the efficacy of Safe Conduct as a potential model for tiger conserv.tion educational programs.We measured lev.ls of student knowledge about tiger ecology,their attitude towards tigers,and their willingness to engage in tiger conserv.tion activ.tes prior to,immediately after and 6 months following the completion of our program.Results supported the fundamental premise of Safe Conduct that knowledge and attitude towards tigers are correlated.Knowledge of tiger ecology and attitude towards tigers increased by the project’s completion;both remained high after 6 months.Howev.r,commitment to participation in conserv.tion efforts rose temporarily post-program and then dropped.Results v.ried by v.llage.We recommend that the reasons for the high performance measures of students in 2 v.llages be inv.stigated,and that lessons learned be applied to v.llages that underperformed.Safe Conduct represents a potential model for env.ronmental education programs in Ternei County and elsewhere to educate future generations,to ev.ntually dev.lop a strong commitment to Amur tiger conserv.tion at the community lev.l.
