Influence of SiC Nanoparticles Reinforcement in Areca/Tamarind Hybrid Biopolymer Composites:Thermo-mechanical,Tribological and Morphological Features

Natural fibers are displacing synthetic fibers as reinforcement in polymer composites due to their ease of processing,low cost,wide availability,biodegradability and *** this study,industrially discarded agro-waste areca fruit husk and tamarind fruit fibers were processed and used as reinforcement with unsaturated polyester resin to create a hybrid composite containing SiC nano filler *** SiC nano filler particles were varied from 1 to 4 wt.%in incremental steps of 1 wt.%with a constant 40 wt.%fiber reinforcement to determine its impact on the thermo-mechanical,morphological,wear and hygro-aging properties of the developed hybrid ***,the composite made of 3 wt.%SiC nano filler particles exposed overall better properties with better tensile(9.137 MPa),flexural(104.056 MPa),impact(7.983 J/cm^(2)),hardness(91.577 HRRW),wear(2.2×10^(-6)µm),crystallite size(7.9 nm)and thermal stability(360℃).Further advancement in weight percent of filler material,has worsened the properties due to poor dispersion and agglomeration factors by reducing the tensile,flexural,impact and hardness characteristics by 4.6%,6.4%,4.5%and 2.18%***,the microstructural investigation revealed the failure pattern,information on interfacial adhesion between the reinforcement,filler and matrix of the hybrid *** addition,the crystalline characteristics and availability of functional groups in hybrid polymer composite with 3 wt.%SiC nano filler particles were disclosed by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR)spectrum analysis,*** above findings reflects that the produced hybrid polymer composites suits well for interiors of automobiles and maritime interior applications to support loads with in the specified range.

The provision of fresh water is becoming an increasingly important issue in many areas of the world. Clean water is a basic human necessity, and without water life will be impossible. The rapid international developments, the industrial growth, agriculture and population explosion all over the world have resulted in a large escalation of demand for fresh water. The solar still is the most economical way to accomplish this objective. The sun’s energy heats water to the point of evaporation. When water evaporates, water vapour rises leaving the impurities like salts, heavy metals and condensate on the underside of the glass cover. Solar distillation has low yield, but safe and pure supplies of water in remote areas. The attempts are made to increase the productivity of solar still by using nanofluids and also by black paint coat- ing inside the still basin. Heat transfer enhancement in solar still is one of the key issues of energy saving and compact designs. The essential initiative is to seek the solid particles having thermal conductivity of several hundred times higher than those of conventional fluids. Recently, as an innovative material, nanosized particles have been used in sus- pension in conventional solar still water. The fluids with nanosized solid particles suspended in them are called “nanofluids”. The suspended metallic or nonmetallic nanoparticles change the transport properties, heat transfer characteristics and evaporative properties of the base fluid, The aim of this paper is to analyze and compare the enhanced performance of a single basin solar still using nanofluids with the conventional water. They greatly improve the rate of evaporation and hence the increase in efficiency.

An overview of pyrethroid insecticides

BACKGROUND： Pesticides are used to control various pests of agricultural crops worldwide. Despite their agricultural benefits, pesticides are often considered a serious threat to the environment because of their persistence. Pyrethroids are synthetic derivates of pyrethrins, which are natural organic insecticides procured from the flowers of Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium and C. coccineum. Pyrethroids are classified into two groups class Ⅰ and class Ⅱ-based on their toxicity and physical properties. These pyrethroids are now used in many synthetic insecticides and are highly specific against insects; they are generally used against mosquitoes. The prominent site of insecticidal action ofpyrethroids is the voltage-sensitive sodium channels. METHODS and RESULTS： Pyrethroids are found to be stable, and they persist in the environment for a long period. This article provides an overview of the different classes, structure, and insecticidal properties of pyrethroid. Furthermore, the toxicity of pyrethroids is also discussed with emphasis on bioremediation to alleviate pollution. CONCLUSIONS： The article focuses on various microorganisms used in the degradation ofpyrethroids, the molecular basis of degradation, and the role of carboxylesterase enzymes and genes in the detoxification of pyrethroid.

Radioactivity levels in soil of salt field area,Kelambakkam,Tamilnadu,India

Soil samples in and around salt field area have been analyzed for natural radioactivity concentration using gamma ray *** activity concentration for ^(232)Th,^(238)U and ^(40)K are ranged from 27.88 to 45.27 Bq/kg, from BDL to 13.30 Bq/kg,and from 135.54 to 381.28 Bq/kg,*** measured activity concentrations for these radionuclides were compared with world average activity of *** average activity concentration of ^(232)Th in the present study is 1.19 times higher than world median value while the activity of ^(238)U and ^(40)K is found to be lower. The absorbed dose rates due to these radionuclides were *** average absorbed gamma dose rate due to the presence of ^(232)Th,^(238)U and ^(40)K in soil samples is 36.99 nGy·h^(-1).These results indicate no radiological anomaly. The data presented in this study will serve as a base line survey for primordial radionuclides concentration in the study area.
