Estimating Optimal Location of STATCOM and Minimization of Congestion Cost by Locational Marginal Price Using Flower Pollination， and Particle Swarm Optimization Techniques

Restructuring of power market not only introduces competition， but also brings complexity which increases overloading of Transmission Lines (TL). To obliviate this complexity， this paper aims to mitigate the overloading and estimate the optimal location of Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) by reducing congestion for a deregulated power system. The proposed method is based on the use of Locational Marginal Price (LMP) difference technique and congestion cost. LMPs are obtained as a by-product of Optimal Power Flow (OPF)， whereas Congestion Cost (CC) is a function of difference in LMP and power flows. An endeavor is justified by reducing the CCand solution space which can identify the TLs more suitable for placement of STATCOM. Importantly， total real power loss， reactive power loss and total CCare the three main objective functions in this optimization process. The process is implemented by developing an IEEE-69 bus test system which verifies and validates the effectiveness of proposed optimization technique. Additionally， a comparative analysis is enumerated by implementing two optimization techniques: Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The comparative analysis is sufficient to demonstrate the superiority of FPA technique over PSO technique in estimating an optimal placement of a STATCOM. The results from the load-flow analysis illustrate the reduction in CC， total real and reactive power loss using FPA technique over PSO technique. Overall， satisfactory results are obtained without using complex calculations which verify the effectiveness of optimization techniques.

Ploughing and fertilization practices in rice-wheat system have deteriorated the soil carbon (C) pools. Conservation agriculture (CA) based management approaches have proven to enhance C sequestration and reverse the loss of soil-organic-carbon (SOC), which further enhances soil fertility. Different fractions of SOC pools react to the alterations in management practices and indicate changes in SOC dynamics as compared to total C in the soil. Higher SOC levels in soil have been observed in case of reduced/no-till (NT) practices than conventional tillage (CT). However, between CT and zero tillage/NT, total SOC stocks diminished with an increase in soil depth, which demonstrated that the benefits of SOC are more pronounced in the topsoil under NT. Soil aggregation provides physical protection to C associated with different-sized particles, thus, the improvement in soil aggregation through CA is an effective way to mitigate soil C loss. Along with less soil disturbance, residual management, suitable crop rotation, rational application of manures and fertilizers, and integrated nutrient management have been found to be effective in not only improving soil C stock but also enhancing the soil health and productivity. Thus, CA can be considered as a potential method in the build-up of SOC of soil in rice-wheat system.

Orofacial trauma in rural India： A clinical study

Purpose： Orofacial trauma is becoming a leading medical problem worldwide. Most of the studies pertaining to orofacial trauma have been done in urban areas but very little scientific literature is available for rural areas. Methods： A prospective medical institute-based study of orofacial injury patients was carried out from May 2013 to April 2016 （36 Months）. Data regarding incidence, age and sex distribution, causes, types and site of injury, treatment modalities and trauma associated complications were collected and analysed. Results： A total of 784 patients were studied. Males outnumbered females by a ratio of 2.9：1. Age range was 9 monthse75 years with the peak incidence in the age-group of 18-34 years. Most injuries were caused by road-side accidents （72.7%）, followed by assault and falls in 11.6% and 8% respectively. Soft tissue injuries and mandibular fractures were the most common type of injuries. Head/neck （50.29%） and limb injuries （27.2%） were the most prevalent associated injuries. Surgical debridement and soft tissue suturing was the most common emergency procedure. Closed reduction was performed in 61% of patients and open reduction and internal fixation in 30% of cases and 9% were managed conservatively. Complications occurred in 6.88% of patients, mainly due to infection and malocclusion. The mean duration of hospital stay was （10.12 ± 6.24） days. Conclusion： This study highlights the importance of department of dental surgery along with other disciplinaries in the management of orofacial injuries. Road-side accident remains the major etiological factor of orofacial injuries in our setting.

Crosslinking of viral nanoparticles with “clickable” fluorescent crosslinkers at the interface

Cu (I) catalyzed alkyne-azide cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction,a typical "click" reaction,is one of the modular synthetic approaches which has been broadly used in various organic syntheses,medicinal chemistry,materials development and bioconjugation *** have for the first time synthesized two dialkyne derivatized fluorescent crosslinkers which could be applied to crosslink two biomolecules using CuAAC *** yellow mosaic virus,a plant virus with unique structural and chemical properties,was used as a prototypical scaffold to form a 2D single layer at the interface of two immiscible liquids and crosslinked with these two linkers by the CuAAC *** crosslinking,the fluorescence of both linkers diminished,likely due to the distortion of the polymethylene backbone,which therefore could be used to indicate the completion of the reaction.

A coprecipitation method was used to synthesize superparamagnetic CoFe2O4 nanoparticles without using any capping agents/surfactants. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), N2 adsorption and thermogravimetric/differential thermal analysis/differential thermal gravimetry techniques. The synthesized spinel CoFe2O4 nanoparticles had an average size of 2-8 nm with a high surface area (140.9 m2/g). The field-dependent magnetization, demonstrated by VSM and saturation magnetization, was found to be 1.77 emu/g. An efficient method was used for the synthesis of arylidene barbituric acid derivatives using CoFe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles as a magnetically separable and reusable catalyst in aqueous ethanol. The attractive features of this synthetic protocol were very short reaction time, high yields, high turnover frequency, simple work-up procedure, economy, a clean reaction methodology, and chemoselectivity, as well as provision of an ecofriendly and green synthesis.

Optimal generation scheduling in power system using frequency prediction through ANN under ABT environment

In a competitive and deregulated power scenario, the utilities try to maintain their real electric power generation in balance with the load demand, which creates a need for the precise real time generation scheduling （GS）. In this paper, the GS problem is solved to perform the unit commitment （UC） based on frequency prediction by using artificial neural network （ANN） with the objective to minimize the overall system cost of the state utility. The introduction of availability-based tariff （ABT） signifies the importance of frequency in GS. Under- prediction or over-prediction will result in an unnecessary commitment of generating units or buying power from central generating units at a higher cost. Therefore, an accurate frequency prediction is the first step toward optimal GS. The dependency of frequency on various parameters such as actual generation, load demand, wind power and power deficit has been considered in this paper. The proposed technique provides a reliable solution for the input parameter different from the one presented in the training data. The performance of the frequency predictor model has been evaluated based on the absolute percentage error （APE） and the mean absolute percentage error （MAPE）. The proposed predicted frequency sensitive GS model is applied to the system of Indian state of Tamilnadu, which reduces the overall system cost of the state utility by keeping off the dearer units selected based on the predicted frequency.

Nowadays,the most challenging and important problem of computer vision is to detect human activities and recognize the same with temporal information from video *** video datasets are generated using cameras available in various devices that can be in a static or dynamic position and are referred to as untrimmed *** monitoring is a historical necessity in which commonly occurring,regular,and out-of-the-ordinary activities can be automatically identified using intelligence systems and computer vision *** a long video,human activity may be present anywhere in the *** can be a single ormultiple human activities present in such *** paper presents a deep learning-based methodology to identify the locally present human activities in the video sequences captured by a single wide-view camera in a sports *** recognition process is split into four parts:firstly,the video is divided into different set of frames,then the human body part in a sequence of frames is identified,next process is to identify the human activity using a convolutional neural network and finally the time information of the observed postures for each activity is determined with the help of a deep learning *** proposed approach has been tested on two different sports datasets including ActivityNet and *** sports activities like swimming,cricket bowling and high jump have been considered in this paper and classified with the temporal information i.e.,the start and end time for every activity present in the *** convolutional neural network and long short-term memory are used for feature extraction of temporal action recognition from video data of sports *** outcomes show that the proposed method for activity recognition in the sports domain outperforms the existing methods.
