The prediction of the mechanical properties of wood and the evolution of its damage has been essential for its application in many fields such as bridges and houses construction, racks of trucks and so on. In more valorization of biomaterials following the example material wood arouses for a few years a?private interest on behalf of the populations. The experimental characterization?makes it possible to consider the mechanical properties local of Pericopsis elata (Assamela) according to various parameters (the wood turpentine, the orientation of wood fibers, water the content, the type of test …). From the?results, we evaluate the mechanical characteristics of Pericopsis elata (Assamela)?according to the three directions of Orthotropy. Then from the tests of load-discharge we measured the evolution of the damage using the variation of the Young modulus, which enabled us to note the reduction in the modulus of elasticity because of the damage following the three directions. Finally we noted a progressive and irreversible degradation of mechanical properties induced by the development of the microscopic cracks within material.

目的探讨Nlrp3炎症小体通路激活与尿毒症心肌病小鼠左心室重构的关系及可能机制。方法将20只小鼠随机分为假手术组和模型组。模型组予5/6肾脏切除术。两组小鼠术后第8周行心脏超声检查,检测血肌酐(Scr)、血尿素氮(BUN)、血浆硫酸吲哚酚(indoxyl sulfate,IS)水平,心肌组织ANP、BNP、Nlrp3、Pro-caspase1、IL-1β和p-P65蛋白表达。培养小鼠巨噬细胞RAW264.7,分为对照组及IS组,检测两组细胞Nlrp3、Pro-caspase1和IL-1β蛋白表达。结果与假手术组相比,模型组小鼠Scr、BUN和IS水平均升高(P<0.05);左心室前壁舒张末期厚度(LVAWd)和左心室后壁舒张末期厚度(LVPWd)增厚,射血分数(EF)和短轴缩短率(FS)降低。更进一步,左心室等容舒张时间和E/A上升,LVFS/MPI下降。HE染色可见心肌细胞肥大。模型组心肌组织ANP、BNP、Nlrp3、Pro-caspase1、IL-1β和p-P65蛋白表达均上调。IS刺激小鼠巨噬细胞Nlrp3、Pro-caspase1和IL-1β蛋白表达均上调。以上结果均具有统计学意义。结论尿毒症心肌病小鼠左心室肥厚与血浆IS水平上调密切相关,可能与NF-κB信号通路激活炎症小体Nlrp3高度相关。

目的:通过iTRAQ联合Label-free法筛选主动脉夹层潜在诊断标志物。方法:入选急性主动脉夹层及对照组(急性冠状动脉综合征)血清各50例。将两组患者中各15例血清标本用于iTRAQ及Label-free分析筛选表达差异蛋白。对所有收集血清进行差异蛋白的免疫吸附测定(ELISA)验证。结果:两组血清标本使用iTRAQ方法共鉴定出84种差异表达蛋白质,Label-free方法共鉴定有或无差异蛋白20种。通过Panther软件进行生信分析与主动脉夹层发病机制9种相关蛋白作为候选生物标志物。进行ELISA验证后得出2种差异蛋白Lumican、PI16有统计学差异,且特异性和敏感性较高。结论:蛋白Lumican、PI16可能成为主动脉夹层潜在的诊断标志物。

Structural colors have drawn wide attention for their potential as a future printing technology for various applications,ranging from biomimetic tissues to adaptive camouflage ***,an efficient approach to realize robust colors with a scalable fabrication technique is still lacking,hampering the realization of practical applications with this ***,we develop a new approach based on large-scale network metamaterials that combine dealloyed subwavelength structures at the nanoscale with lossless,ultra-thin dielectric *** using theory and experiments,we show how subwavelength dielectric coatings control a mechanism of resonant light coupling with epsilon-near-zero regions generated in the metallic network,generating the formation of saturated structural colors that cover a wide portion of the *** measurements support the efficient observation of these colors,even at angles of 70°.The network-like architecture of these nanomaterials allows for high mechanical resistance,which is quantified in a series of nano-scratch *** such remarkable properties,these metastructures represent a robust design technology for real-world,large-scale commercial applications.

Palliative Treatment of Locally Advanced Non Metastatic Lung Cancer

Introduction: To determine the proportion and the reasons which lead to palliative treatment in patients initially a candidate for concomitant chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). Methods: A retrospective study including patients followed for locally advanced lung cancer newly diagnosed from April 1, 2016, to 12/31/2017 in the radiotherapy department of the National Oncology Institute who received palliative treatment. Results: We collected 52 patients out of a total of 225 stage III patients (23%) followed by lung cancer candidates for CCRT who had undergone palliative treatment. The mean age in our series was 61.23 years [22 - 81] with 86% male. The majority of patients (71%) had Performance Status (PS) ≤ 2. Histological confirmation was obtained by pathological examination in all our patients. It was an adenocarcinoma (ADK) in 54% of cases;squamous cell carcinoma in 46% of cases. The reasons for palliative treatment were mainly due to dosimetric constraints: large tumor volume 22/52 (42%);the tumor location close to the bone marrow in 15 of 52 (29%) patients;and general Performance Status impairment (29%) in 15 of 52 patients. One of the most devastating diseases of rice worldwide is bacterial blight (BLB) caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. Oryzae (Xoo). In Benin, Xoo was first described in 2013 on wild rice Oryzae longistaminata. So far, no study has been done on Beninese Xoo strains. We do not know whether the pathogen has already passed into the rice varieties grown, or if they are exposed to other bacteria. Whereas the use of resistant varieties, carrying resistance genes, is the only highly effective and environmentally friendly way to control this disease, no information is available on these Xoo resistance genes in rice varieties grown in Benin apart from the one we recently. This study aims to identify Beninese Xoo strains, causing BLB and screen rice varieties grown in Benin for the main resistance genes. Diseased rice leaves showing typical symptoms of fire blight collected from different rice fields in the three phytogeographic areas of Benin were analyzed by PCR for Xoo-specific sequence identification. Furthermore, seventy-five collected rice accessions were screened to identify xa5, Xa7, xa13, and Xa21 resistance genes to Xoo. The results reveal that Xanthomonas oryzae was identified in two fields in Banikouara and one in Malanville. On the other hand, Sphingomonas sp. has been identified in several other rice fields in Benin. Forty-seven of seventy-five rice accessions examined (62.66%) carried Xoo resistance genes with 3 (4%) and 40 (53.33%) of xa5 and Xa21 respectively. None of the accessions had either Xa7 or xa13 resistance genes. Three accessions possess both xa5 and Xa21 genes. Isogenic lines IRBB60 and IRBB21, supposed to be a positive control, presented a Xoo sensitivity allele. These results indicate that Xoo has moved from the wild rice variety to the cultivated variety in northern Benin and varietal improvement programs must be implemented with varieties having several resistance genes for the efficient response against a possible BLB pandemic in Benin.

Bone Dysmorphia-Induced Blindness Following a Secondary Hyperparathyroidism: A Case Report

Introduction: Conjunctival-corneal or choroidal calcifications are frequent in SHPT, blindness is however exceptional. We report a case of blindness secondary to compressive ischemic optic neuropathy. Case Report: Mr. B.E.K., 49 years old, has a chronic renal failure secondary to unlabeled glomerular nephropathy for 17 years. He has been on chronic hemodialysis for 12 years and has had SHPT for nine years. He secondarily developed disabling segmental osteoarticular deformities associated with kyphoscoliosis, “drumstick” fingers and facial dysmorphism. Five months before admission he developed eye pain and reduced visual acuity progressing within one month to blindness. Biology noted: serum creatinine at 726 umol/l (60 - 120 umol/L), azotemia at 14.3 mmol/l (2.5 - 7.5 mmol/L), serum calcium at 2.25 (2.25 - 2.55 mmol/L), phosphatemia at 1.13 (0.8 - 1.35 mmol/L), alkaline phosphatases at 2196 (5 - 270 IU/L) and parathyroid hormone level at 2257 (10 - 60 pg/mL). Retinal angiography revealed lesions suggestive of ischemic neuropathy. The orbit CT scan with 3D coronal reconstruction revealed narrowing of the caliber of the optical channels with dystrophic thickening of the skull base and cranial vault. Cranioencephalic and orbital MRI revealed diffuse brown tumors and pre-chiasmatic optic atrophy. Discussion: The most frequent ocular complications of SHPT are conjunctival-corneal or sclero-choroidal calcifications, asymptomatic, associated with hypercalcemia. Compressive manifestations are rarer, represented mainly by an amputation of the visual field, diplopia, ptosis or blindness, as described in our patient. The main cause is osteodystrophy and brown tumors of the skull base (1% - 2%).
