TiO2‐mediated photocatalysis is widely used in a variety of applications and products in the envi‐ronmental and energy fields, including photoelectrochemical conversion, self‐cleaning surfaces, and especially water purification systems. The dimensionality of the structure of a TiO2 material can affect its properties, functions, and more specifically, its photocatalytic performance. In this work, the photocatalytic inactivation of Gram‐negative Escherichia coli using three photocatalysts, differ‐ing in their structure and other characteristics, was studied in a batch reactor under UVA light. The aim was to establish the disinfection efficiency of solid TiO2 compared with that of suspended cata‐lysts, widely considered as reference cases for photocatalytic water disinfection. The bacterial inac‐tivation profiles obtained showed that: (1) the photoinactivation was exclusively related to the quantity of photons retained per unit of treated volume, irrespective of the characteristics of the photocatalyst and the emitted light flux densities;(2) across the whole UV light range studied, each of the photocatalytic solids was able to achieve more than 2 log bacterial inactivation with less than 2 h UV irradiation;(3) none of the used catalysts achieved a total bacterial disinfection during the treatment time. For each of the catalysts the quantum yield has been assessed in terms of disinfec‐tion efficiency, the 2D material showed almost the same performance as those of suspended cata‐lysts. This catalyst is promising for supported photocatalysis applications.

Experimental and Numerical Study of Energy Losses in a Barbecue Oven in Burkina Faso

This work concerns an experimental and numerical study of energy losses in a typical oven usually used in the agro-food craft sector in Burkina Faso. The experimental results were obtained by infrared thermography of the oven and by monitoring the evolution of the wall temperatures using thermocouples connected to a data acquisition system. These results indicate that the energy losses are mainly through the walls of the oven. The numerical study based on the energy balance and corroborated by the experimental study made it possible to quantify these losses of energy which represents almost half of the fuel used. These results will allow us to work on a new, more efficient oven model for the grilling sector in Burkina Faso.

The Experience of Pain and Anxiety in Cervical Cancer Patients Undergoing Multiple Fraction High-Dose Rate Brachytherapy: A Prospective Observational Study

Purpose: To evaluate the anxiety and pain levels of cervical cancer patients undergoing intracavitary multifraction high-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy, as part of a process to develop guidelines for quality patient-centered care. Methods: Cervical cancer patients (n = 31) undergoingmultiple fraction HDR brachytherapy treatment at the National Institute of Oncology in Rabat (Morocco) completed ratings of pain and anxiety intensity using 11-point verbal analog scales, at 6 key time points over 2 brachytherapy insertion procedures and 4 brachytherapy fractions. Women were evaluated for psychological status at baseline before starting the brachytherapy process using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Scores were grouped as follows: 0 - 7 = normal, 8 - 10 = borderline, 11 - 21 = abnormal. Factors that could affect anxiety levels such as education level, relationship status, number of pregnancies and prior surgical history were documented. Results: Between July and August 2020, 31 women with a median age of 49.6 years were evaluated (range: 27 - 70). The HADS score identified depression in 5 patients (16.1%) and anxiety in 12 patients (38.7%). Throughout both treatment procedures, anticipatory anxiety was reported, with a maximum intensity in the operating room during spinal anesthesia (3.23 ± 1.7) and during applicator insertion (2.97 ± 2.4). Moderate-to-severe anxiety scores were reported in 25.8% and 22.6% of patients respectively. Level of education showed a significant correlation with anxiety scores (p = 0.027). Pain increased significantly during the procedure (p ± 1.4) and applicator removal (4.74 ± 1.5) turned out to be the most painful parts of the procedure. No correlation was found between pain and anxiety levels. Conclusion: Intracavitary multifraction high-dose rate brachytherapy is associated with mild to moderate levels of pain and anxiety, although a subset of patients reported more severe symptoms and may require additional medical and psy

We here report the de novo transcriptome assembly and functional annotation of Eusirus *** clade g3,providing the first database of expressed sequences from this giant Antarctic ***-sequencing,carried out on the whole body of a single juvenile individual likely undergoing molting,revealed the dominant expression of *** mRNAs encoding these oxygen-binding proteins cumulatively accounted for about 40%of the total transcriptional effort,highlighting the key biological importance of high hemocyanin production in this Antarctic amphipod *** speculate that this observation may mirror a strategy previously described in Antarctic cephalopods,which compensates for the decreased ability to release oxygen to peripheral tissues at sub-zero temperatures by massively increasing total blood hemocyanin content compared with temperate *** preliminary results will undoubtedly require confirmation through proteomic and biochemical analyses aimed at characterizing the oxygen-binding properties of *** clade g3 hemocyanins and at investigating whether other Antarctic arthropod species exploit similar adaptations to cope with the challenges posed by the extreme conditions of the polar environment.

基础设施建设项目的数量和质量影响着经济增长以及国家的竞争力,同时基础设施建设项目的运营和管理也是影响国家可持续发展的重要因素。基础设施是一个国家或地区发展的先决条件,特别在非洲国家基础设施项目在经济结构转型中起到决定性作用,它将不同的部门联系起来,使生产系统保持一致,缩小城乡之间的差距,促进生产力的发展和经济增长,使社会各阶层之间、城乡之间的财富分配更加平衡。众所周知,提高质量同时改善基础设施存量,能够促进国家更快、更持续和更全面的发展。因此,推动基础设施项目的建设和运营管理,能够有效促进经济增长和社会发展,这也成为非洲地区领导人的共识。但是,必须认识到在非洲区域,包括贝宁在内的众多国家基础设施项目的建设和运营管理方面存在着较大的缺陷。目前,非洲国家基础设施规模较小,建设过程和运行管理体系尚未建立,施工过程中管理混乱,没有标准可循,操作过程往往会导致事故频发,与经济发达国家的基础设施项目的运行管理之间存在着较大的差距。本文从贝宁的基础设施状况出发,提出采用PPPs模式来改善贝宁基础设施项目的建设和运营管理,完成的主要内容如下:(1)对贝宁运输、公路设施、港口、铁路、机场等方面进行了调查研究,分析了目前存在的问题和面临的挑战;(2)以英国、加拿大、澳大利亚及中国PPPs模式为参考,从PPPs模式的优势、确定要素、项目阶段、合同模式、融资策略、风险管理等多个方面进行了研究分析,并结合贝宁目前的发展现状,提出采用PPPs模式来改善贝宁基础设施项目的建设和运营管理;(3)以贝宁正在建造的Glo-Djigbe国际机场为例,从外部环境、技术经济等方面分析了目前机场建设面临问题,论证了采用PPPs模式的可行性,并将PPPs的运营管理模式应用于机场建设,解决机场建设存在的问题,为贝宁基础设施项目建设提供指导。

Switching Optimization for Class-G Audio Amplifiers with Two Power Supplies

This paper presents a system-level method to decrease the power consumption of integrated audio Class-G amplifiers for mobile phones by using the same implementation of the level detector, but by changing the parameters of the switching algorithm. This method uses an optimization based on a simplified model simulation to quickly find the best power supply switching strategy in order to decrease the losses of the internal Class-AB amplifier. Using a few relevant equations of Class-G on the electrical level and by reducing the number of calculation points, this model can dramatically reduce the calculation time to allow power consumption evaluation in realistic case conditions compared to the currently available tools. This simplified model also evaluates the audio quality reproduction thanks to a psycho-acoustic method. The model has been validated by comparing model results and practical measurements on two industrial circuits. This proposed model is used by an optimizer based on a genetic algorithm associated with a pattern search algorithm to find the best power supply switching strategy for the internal Class-AB amplifier. The optimization results improve life-time performance by saving at least 25% in power consumption for typical use-case (1mW) compared to the industrial circuit studied and without losses in audio quality.

Supraumbilical Transverse Incision for Cesarean Section in Severely Obese Patients:The Experience of a French Hospital from 2009 to 2014

Aim: To describe our experience in supraumbilical cesarean deliveries in severely and morbidly obese patients (body mass index > 35 kg/m2) with a voluminous abdominal panniculus. Methods: A retrospective study in France between January 2009 and May 2014. Every woman who underwent a cesarean delivery with a supraumbilical incision was included through her digital medical record. A senior doctor made the decision for a supraumbilical skin incision after careful examination of the patient’s anatomical conditions. Results: Twenty patients were included, for a total of 21 cesarean deliveries. Their mean body mass index 50 (40 - 61.7). Nineteen of them (95.0%) had an abdominal panniculus in supine “apron” position. Twelve patients (57.1%) had a scarred uterus. During the cesarean section, 14 (66.7%) had a segmentary hysterotomy. The median operative time was 49 minutes (32 - 70). Four patients (19.1%) had a postpartum hemorrhage and 4 (19.1%) a postpartum infectious complication, none of which were severe. Conclusions: In this specific population of severely obese women undergoing cesarean procedures, variations in anatomy require each patient’s incision choice to be individualized. In women with a voluminous panniculus the supraumbilical skin incision seems to offer an adequate exposure to the peritoneal cavity and the lower uterine segment, therefore allowing to safely carry out the procedure. However a prospective study on a larger sample remains necessary to compare this technique to the classical cesarean procedure.

Production of Improved Traditional Medicines： Case of Antiparasitarian in Goat Summary on the Current Stage of Work

The importance of gastrointestinal parasitic infections is due both to their frequency and the severity of the disorders they cause. Parasitism is one of the causes of the brake of the profitability of goat farms. Breeders thus have to face this thorny challenge which constitutes a real handicap to the development of this breeding. The high costs of interventions and veterinary medicines as well as the low incomes of livestock farmers are attracting increasing interest and demand for traditional medicines. Ethnobotanical and ethnopharmacological surveys and laboratory analysis on Vitex thomasii De Wild have revealed its safety and confirmed its antiparasitic properties on goats. The use of indices of credibility has permitted to choose Vitex thomasii De Wild amongst many other recipes recorded in 2011 in Democratic Republic of Congo. This recipe has permitted the production of an antiparasitic improved traditional medicine. The determination of dose and conditioning, unknown in traditional medicine, followed by good manufacturing practices has led to easy administration and conservation of phytomedicine.
