This review summarizes recent progress in developing wireless,batteryless,fully implantable biomedical devices for real-time continuous physiological signal monitoring,focusing on advancing human health *** considerations,such as biological constraints,energy sourcing,and wireless communication,are discussed in achieving the desired performance of the devices and enhanced interface with human *** addition,we review the recent achievements in materials used for developing implantable systems,emphasizing their importance in achieving multi-functionalities,biocompatibility,and *** wireless,batteryless devices offer minimally invasive device insertion to the body,enabling portable health monitoring and advanced disease ***,we summarize the most recent practical applications of advanced implantable devices for human health care,highlighting their potential for immediate commercialization and clinical uses.

Non-pharmacological interventions for improved home care of persons with dementia and their family caregiver are and will be increasingly important for society. A music intervention study was performed on persons with persons with dementia and family caregiver. The persons with dementia and family caregiver were instructed to choose a daily routine for joint listening to recorded music. They selected the music they were interested in from a menu. The intervention period lasted for two months. Both persons with dementia and family caregiver provided daily saliva samples for the assessment of stress-related steroid hormones. In previous reports we have reported that the morning cortisol levels decreased significantly among the family caregiver when the intervention group was compared to a control group. In the present study we report narratives from four dyads, two of whom with beneficial effects of the music intervention, one dyad with no clear beneficial effects and one dyad with mixed results. The narratives illustrate the strong cohesive effect that the joint music listening could have, leading to improved social functioning paralleled by decreased morning cortisol levels particularly in the family caregiver. The narratives also illustrate reasons for failed effects.

Methionine(Met)is an essential and first limiting amino acid in the poultry diet that plays a significant role in chicken embryonic development and *** present study examined the effect of in ovo injection of DL-Met and L-Met sources and genotypes on chicken embryonic-intestinal development and *** eggs of the two genotypes,TETRA-SL layer hybrid(TSL)—commercial layer hybrid and Hungarian Partridge colored hen breed(HPC)—a native genotype,were randomly distributed into four treatments for each *** treatment groups include the following:1)control non-injected eggs(NoIn);2)saline-injected(SaIn);3)DL-Met injected(DLM);and 4)L-Met injected(LM).The in ovo injection was carried out on 17.5 d of embryonic development;after hatching,eight chicks per group were sacrificed,and the jejunum was extracted for *** results showed that both DLM and LM groups had enhanced intestinal development as evidenced by increased villus width,villus height,and villus area(P<0.05)compared to the *** DLM group had significantly reduced crypt depth,glutathione(GSH)content,glutathione S-transferase 3 alpha(GST3),occludin(OCLN)gene expression and increased villus height to crypt depth ratio in the TSL genotype than the LM group(P<0.05).The HPC genotype has overexpressed insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF1)gene,tricellulin(MD2),occludin(OCLN),superoxide dismutase 1(SOD1),and GST3 genes than the TSL genotype(P<0.05).In conclusion,these findings showed that in ovo injection of Met enhanced intestinal development,and function,with genotypes responding differently under normal *** also influenced the expression of intestinal antioxidants,tight junction,and growth-related genes.

The development of efficient and cost-effective micromachines is a challenge for applied and fundamental science,given their wide fields of *** is a suitable tool to move small objects in a noncontact way,given its capabilities in exerting forces and ***,when complex manipulation is required,micro-objects with proper architecture could play a specific *** we report on the rotational dynamics of core-shell particles,with a polymeric nematic core of ellipsoidal shape capped by Au *** undergo a peculiar synchronous spinning and orbital motion when irradiated by a simple Gaussian beam,which originates from the coupling of the metallic nanoparticles’optical response and the core *** rotation capabilities are strongly enhanced when the trapping wavelength lies in the plasmonic resonance region:indeed,the spin kinetic energy reaches values two orders of magnitude larger than the one of bare *** proposed strategy brings important insights into optimizing the design of light controlled micro-objects and might benefit applications in microfluidics,microrheology,and micromachining involving rotational dynamics.

This paper resumes a laboratory experience on a slope adjustable plot with the aim of examining the role of rainfall intensity and slope gradient for a sandy loam soil,typical of Southern Italy,with particular initial moisture *** results of the simulations performed show that a rainfall reduction causes a corresponding percentage reduction of sediment output.A similar behaviour can be attributed to slope gradient,while runoff moderately increases with rainfall intensity but it is not sensitive to slope *** also highlight that the degree of saturation can affect runoff and soil loss values.

Wearable devices redefine the way people interact with *** the intensive effort in the design and fabrication of synthetic fibers to improve wearable device properties in terms of electronic and ionic conductivity,stretchability,com-fort,and washability,challenges remain in fabricating single fiber materials that optimize all properties *** this work,we demonstrate a highly stretchable,ionic,and electronic conductive fabric via(1)the natural nanoscale chan-nels in fibers for effective ion transportation,(2)confining the electronic conductive material with the cellulose fibers,and(3)decoupling the property degradation of the fiber from deformation using the knitted *** hierarchical structure created by cotton fibers can serve as ionic conductive channels as well as a robust multiscale scaffold to host infiltrated elec-tronic conductive *** strands with ionic and electronic conductivity can be knitted into fabrics that are highly stretchable(~300%).Moreover,high ionic and electronic conductivity are observed with 2 S/m and 5 S/m,respectively,even under a strain of 175%.With the inherent advantages of cotton fabrics such as moisture-wicking,washability,comfort,and light-weightiness for wearable applications,our approach of directly functionalized cellulose can potentially be a promising route towards highly stretchable and wearable mixed conductors.
