The current investigation offers an innov.tive synthetic solution regarding electrochromic(Ec)and energy storage applications by exploring phenoxazine(POZ)***,three POZ-based polymers(polyimide,polyazomethine,and polyamide)were synthesized to ascertain the superior *** polyamide exhibited remarkable attributes,including high redox stability during 500 repetitive cvs,optical contrast of 61.98%,rapid response times of 1.02 and 1.38 s for coloring and bleaching,Ec efficiency of 280 cm^(2)c^(-1).and decays of the optical density and Ec efficiency of only 12.18%and 6.23%after 1000 ***,the energy storage performance of polyamide PA was tested,for which the following parameters were obtained:74.7 F g^(-1)(cv,scan rate of 10 mv s^(-1))and 118 F g^(-1)(GcD,charging current of 0.1 A g^(-1)).Then,the polyamide was tested in EES dev.ces,which yielded the following Ec parameters:an optical contrast of 62.15%,response times of 9.24 and 5.01 s for coloring and bleaching,Ec efficiency of 178 cm^(2)c^(-1),and moderate decays of 20.25%and 23.24%for the optical density and Ec efficiency after 500 *** energy storage performance included a capacitance of 106 F g^(-1)(cv,scan rate of 0.1 mv s^(-1))and 9.23 F g^(-1)(GcD,charging current of 0.1 A g^(-1)),capacitance decay of 11.9%after500 cycles,and 1.7 v retention after 2 ***,two EES dev.ces connected in series powered a 3 v LED for almost 30 s.

Supplementation of vitamin E or a botanical extract as antioxidants to improve growth performance and health of growing pigs housed under thermoneutral or heat-stressed conditions

Background Heat stress has severe negative consequences on performance and health of pigs,leading to significant economic *** objective of this study was to investigate the effects of supplemental vitamin E and a botanical extract in feed or drinking water on growth performance,intestinal health,and oxidative and immune status in grow-ing pigs housed under heat stress *** Duplicate experiments were conducted,each using 64 crossbred pigs with an initial body weight of 50.7±3.8 and 43.9±3.6 kg and age of 13-week and 12-week,***(n=128)were housed individually and assigned within weight blocks and sex to a 2×4 factorial arrangement consisting of 2 environments(thermo-neutral(21.2℃)or heat-stressed(30.9℃))and 4 supplementation treatments(control diet;control+100 IU/L of D-α-tocopherol in water;control+200 IU/kg of DL-α-tocopheryl-acetate in feed;or control+400 mg/kg of a botanical extract in feed).Results Heat stress for 28 d reduced(P≤0.001)final body weight,average daily gain,and average daily feed intake(-7.4 kg,-26.7%,and-25.4%,respectively)but no effects of supplementation were detected(P>0.05).Serum vitamin E increased(Pvitamin E supplementation in water and in feed(1.64 vs.3.59 and 1.64 vs.3.24),but not for the botanical extract(1.64 vs.1.67 mg/kg)and was greater when supplemented in water ***(P=0.002).Liver vitamin E increased(Pvitamin E supplementations in water(3.9 vs.31.8)and feed(3.9 vs.18.0),but not with the botanical extract(3.9 vs.4.9 mg/kg).Serum malondialdehyde was reduced with heat stress on d 2,but increased on d 28(interaction,Pcompared to *** proliferation was reduced(P=0.037)in the jejunum under heat stress,but increased in the ileum when vitamin E was supplemented in feed and water under heat stress(interaction,P=0.04).Tumor necrosis factor-αin jejunum and ileum mucosa decreased by heat stress(P<0.05)and was re

Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is the most common type of dementia,but it is very difficult to diagnose with certainty,so many AD studies have attempted to find early and relevant diagnostic *** upon activation,normal T cell expressed and secreted(RANTES,also known as c-c chemokine ligand)is a chemokine involved in the migration of T cells and other lymphoid *** in RANTES levels and its expression in blood or in cerebrospinal fluid have been reported in some neurodegenerative diseases,such as Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis,but also in metabolic diseases in which inflammation plays a *** aim of this observational study was to assess RANTES levels in peripheral blood as clinical indicators of *** levels of RANTES were investigated in 85 AD patients in a relatively early phase of AD(median 8.5 months after diagnosis;39 men and 46 women;average age 75.7 years),and in 78 control subjects(24 men and 54 women;average age 66 years).We found much higher plasma levels of RANTES in AD patients compared to controls.A negative correlation of RANTES levels with age,disease duration,Fazekas scale score,and the medial temporal lobe atrophy(MTA)score(Scheltens’s scale)was found in AD patients,i.e.,the higher levels corresponded to earlier stages of the *** RANTES levels were not correlated with cognitive *** AD patients,RANTES levels were positively correlated with the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α,which is consistent with the wellknown fact that AD is associated with inflammatory *** levels were also positively correlated with insulin levels in AD patients,with insulin resistance(HOMA-R)and pancreatic beta cell function(HOMA-F).This study evaluated several clinical and metabolic factors that may affect plasma levels of RANTES,but these factors could not explain the increases in RANTES levels observed in AD *** levels of RANTES appear to be an interesting

clinical and Demographic Profile of Women with Uterine Fibroids Living in Puerto Rico

Introduction: Uterine leiomyomas, or fibroids, are prevalent benign tumors affecting up to 70% of reproductive-age women in the United States, significantly impacting productivity and quality of life. Despite their commonality, the epidemiology and clinical patterns of leiomyomas in Puerto Rico remain inadequately researched. Methods: This study conducted a secondary data analysis using clinical, menstrual cycle characteristics, and demographic data from self-administered questionnaires of women undergoing diagnostic laparoscopy for endometriosis in Puerto Rico. chi-square tests and t-tests analyzed categorical and continuous variables, respectively (p Results: Among 1,610 endometriosis cases, 312 included uterine fibroids. Prevalence estimates were 10.3% (40 years). Primiparous women averaged 22.14 years, with 40.71% having 2 - 3 pregnancies and 26.28% experiencing miscarriages. Symptoms included infertility (29.5%), dyspareunia (40.7%), severe pain (50%), and dysmenorrhea (75.6%). comorbidities included ovarian cysts (52.2%) and abnormal uterine bleeding (37.8%). conclusions: Advanced age, parity, and comorbidities like diabetes and hypertension were prevalent in our cohort. Understanding the epidemiological profile of women living in Puerto Rico with uterine fibroids is crucial for improving diagnostic awareness and enhancing patient care.

A randomized,fellow eye,comparison of keratometry,aberrometry,tear film,axial length and the anterior chamber depth after eye rubbing in non-keratoconic eyes

Normal tissues are organized in a hierarchical model,whereas at the apex of these hierarchies reside stem cells (Scs) capable of self-renewal and of producing differentiated cellular progenies,leading to normal development and ***,tumors are organized in a hierarchical manner,with cancer Scs residing at the apex,contributing to the development and nourishment of tumors .p53,the well-known 'guardian ofthe genome',possesses various roles in embryonic development as well as in adult Sc life and serves as the ‘guardian of tissue hierarchy’.Moreover,p53 serves as a barrier for dedifferentiation and reprogramming by constraining the cells to a somatic state and preventing their conversion to *** the contrary,the mutant forms of p53 that lost theirtumor suppressor activity and gain oncogenic functions serve as 'inducers oftissue anarchy' and promote cancer *** this review,we discuss these two sides ofthe p53 token that sentence a tissue either to an ordered hierarchy and life or to anarchy and death.A better understanding of these processes may open new horizons for the development of new cancer therapies.

Electrocardiographic measures of repolarization dispersion and their relationships with echocardiographic indices of ventricular remodeling and premature ventricular beats in hypertension

Objective To examine the relationship between Tpeak- Tend interval （Tpe） and Tpe/QT ratio with occurrence of ventricular premature beats （vPBs） and left ventricular remodeling in hypertension. Methods A total of 52 patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension were included, undergoing echocardiography and 24-hours Holter monitoring. ventricular remodeling was assessed by left ventricular mass index （LvMI） using the Devereux formula and diastolic fimction by transmitral E and A wave velocities and E/A ratio. Tpe was measured in the precordial leads. The end of the T wave was set by the method of the tangent to the steepest descending slope of the T wave. Results Tpe and Tpe/QT in leads v2 （r = 0.33, P = 0.01; r = 0.27, P = 0.04 respectively） and v3 （r = 0.40, P = 0.002; r = 0.40, P = 0.003, respectively） correlated significantly with LvMI. A significant inverse relationship was observed between E/A ratio and QT （r = -0.33, P = 0.01）, Tpe in v3 （r = -0.39, P = 0.003） and Tpe/QT in v3 （r = -0.31, P = 0.02）. Tpe in v3, v5, mean Tpe and maximum Tpe with cut-offvalues of 60 ms, 59 ms, 62 ms and 71 ms, respectively, associated with the occurrence of ventricular premature beats. conclusions The repolarization parameters Tpe interval and Tpe/QT ratio correlate with LvMI and indices of left ventricular diastolic function and show better predictive values than traditional parameters such as QT interval and QT dispersion. Lead v3 is the best lead for measuring Tpe and Tpe/QT. These EcG indices can therefore be used in clinical practice to monitor Lv remodeling and predict occurrence of vPBs.

Although pharmaceuticals have beendetected in the environment only in the range from ng/L to μg/L, it has beendemonstrated that they can adversely affect the health status of aquatic organisms. Lysosomal membrane stability （LMS） has previously been applied as an indicator of cellularwell-being todetermine health status in bivalve mussels. The objective of this study is to evaluate LMS in Ruditapes philippinarum haemolymph using the neutral red retention assay （NRRA）. clamswere exposed in laboratory conditions to caffeine （0.1, 5, 15, 50 μg/L）, ibuprofen （0.1, 5, 10, 50 μg/L）, carbamazepine and nov.biocin （both at 0.1, 1, 10, 50 μg/L） for35days. Results show adose-dependent effect of the pharmaceuticals. The neutral red retention time measured at the end of the bioassaywas significantly reduced by 50% after exposure to environmental concentrations （p 〈 0.05）（caffeine = 15 μg/L; ibuprofen = 10 μg/L; carbamazepine = 1 μg/L and nov.biocin = 1 μg/L）, compared to controls. clams exposed to these pharmaceuticalswere considered to present adiminished health status （retention time 〈45 min）, significantlyworse than controls （96 min）（p 〈 0.05）. The predicted no environmental effect concentration （PNEc） results showed that these pharmaceuticals are very toxic at the environmental concentrations tested. Measurement of the alteration of LMS has been found to be a sensitive technique that enables evaluation of the health status of clams after exposure to pharmaceuticals under laboratory conditions, thus representing a robust Tier-1 screening biomarker.
