Effects of the nitrification inhibitor nitrapyrin and the plant growth regulator gibberellic acid on yield-scale nitrous oxide emission in maize fields under hot climatic conditions

Nitrification inhibitors are widely used in agriculture to mitigate nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)emission and increase crop ***,no concrete information on their mitigation of N_(2)O emission is available under soil and environmental conditions as in Pakistan.A field experiment was established using a silt clay loam soil from Peshawar,Pakistan,to study the effect of urea applied in combination with a nitrification inhibitor,nitrapyrin(2-chloro-6-tri-chloromethyl pyridine),and/or a plant growth regulator,gibberellic acid(GA_3),on N_(2)O emission and the nitrogen(N)uptake efficiency of *** experimental design was a randomized complete block with five treatments in four replicates:control with no N(CK),urea(200 kg N ha^(-1))alone,urea in combination with nitrapyrin(700 g ha^(-1)),urea in combination with GA_3(60 g ha^(-1)),and urea in combination with nitrapyrin and GA_*** N_(2)O emission,yield,N response efficiency,and total N uptake were measured during the experimental *** treatment with urea and nitrapyrin reduced total N_(2)O emission by 39%–43%and decreased yield-scaled N_(2)O emission by 47%–52%,relative to the treatment with urea *** maize plant biomass,grain yield,and total N uptake increased significantly by 23%,17%,and 15%,respectively,in the treatment with urea and nitrapyrin,relative to the treatment with urea alone,which was possibly due to N saving,lower N loss,and increased N uptake in the form of ammonium;they were further enhanced in the treatment with urea,nitrapyrin,and GA_3 by 27%,36%,and 25%,respectively,probably because of the stimulating effect of GA_3 on plant growth and development and the reduction in biotic and abiotic *** results suggest that applying urea in combination with nitrapyrin and GA_3 has the potential to mitigate N_(2)O emission,improve N response efficiency,and increase maize yield.

Importance of Primary Health Care in Medicine: Simultaneous Analysis of Two Colleges, under the Vision of Teachers and Students

Introduction: The involvement of undergraduate student at the beginning of their training in activities based on Primary Health Care (PHC), provides preventive and health promoting actions, and ensures the evaluation of the vulnerability of communities and people. Objectives: To analyze the opinion of students and teachers of two medicine higher education institutions on the relevance of Primary Health Care in this course. METHODS: Students and teachers should be effectively enrolled in order for the study to be conducted, being chosen in a random manner and without interferences on the part of the researchers so that the work was as reliable as possible. A cross-sectional study was conducted with interviews structured in questionnaires about what they thought about PHC. To some students and teachers of the medical course of Valen?a and Grande Rio University (UNIGRANRIO). Before receiving the questionnaire, all interviewed signed a Free and Informed Consent Term, which included the objectives and methodology of the work. Results: 310 students and 51 teachers participated in the study, where 91.43% of the students and 100% of the teachers affirmed that primary care plays a fundamental role in medical education. 94.86% of students and 97.91% of teachers, claimed that the discipline allows a greater contact between undergraduates and community. When questioned about the encouragement that teachers give to students to pursue a career in PHC, 57.87% of the students and 70.83% of the professors said they lacked in such a stimulus. Conclusion: PHC is still very neglected by governmental policies, educational institutions and by the own teachers, that often, turn they attention only to tertiary medicine and, as a consequence, a discouragement of this area occur. Therefore, a higher PHC value is necessary, allowing a more humane look at the patient, valuing their feelings, anguishes and their pathological framework.

Movements and diving behavior of internesting green turtles along Pacific costa Rica

Using satellite transmitters,we determined the internesting movements,spatial ecology and diving behavior of East Pacific green turtles(Chelonia mydas)nesting on Nombre de Jesús and Zapotillal beaches along the Pacific coast of northwestern costa *** density analysis indicated that turtles spent most of their time in a particularly small area in the vicinity of the nesting beaches(50%utilization distribution was an area of 3 km^(2)).Minimum daily distance traveled during a 12 day internesting period was 4.6±3.5 *** were short and primarily occupied the upper 10 m of the water *** spent most of their time resting at the surface and conducting U-dives(ranging from 60 to 81%of the total tracking time involved in those activities).Turtles showed a strong diel pattern,U-dives mainly took place during the day and turtles spent a large amount of time resting at the surface at *** lack of long-distance movements demonstrated that this area was heavily utilized by turtles during the nesting season and,therefore,was a crucial location for conservation of this highly endangered green turtle *** unique behavior of these turtles in resting at the surface at night might make them particularly vulnerable to fishing activities near the nesting beaches.

Rare Diagnosis of Krukenberg Tumor:Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma

Krukenberg tumor is a rare ovarian metastatic cancer from the gastrointestinal tract. It accounts for 1%-5% of malignant tumors of the ovaries, usually being bilateral, of solid consistency and may have cystic areas. The World Health Organization (WHO) defined it as an ovarian metastasis when the mucus-secreting cells of “signet ring” are present, associated with sarcomatous stromal proliferation. We present a 58-year-old woman with the diagnosis of peripheric cholangiocarcinoma with ovarian metastasis, showing history of pain and increased abdominal volume. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) showed multiple hepatic solid nodules with predominantly peripheral, centripetal and progressive enhancement, demonstrating hipersignal and restriction on diffusion weighted imaging (DWI). In the anexial region, bulky heterogeneous multiloculated cystic formations with solid components, of probable ovarian origin, were noted. Biopsy of the liver nodules confirmed the diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma.

Organomineral Phosphorus Fertilization in the Production of Corn,Soybean and Bean Cultivated in Succession

The use of organic waste in agriculture has been used aiming at greater productivity, decrease in the cost of production and sustainable use of resources. The present study aimed at evaluating the effect of phosphate fertilization with the maintenance of organomineral fertilizers, combining poultry manure and soluble or reactive phosphate, in the production of grains in corn culture and the residual effect for subsequent crops of beans and soybeans. The experiment was conducted in Sete Lagoas, MG, in 2015, using three fertilizers with sources of different phosphorus sources (triple super phosphate—STP, organomineral with STP and organomineral with Bayovar phosphate) applied at the doses of 65, 130, 195 and 260 kg·ha¯1 of P2O5 total, and compared to the control without phosphate fertilization. We evaluated the contents of foliar P, P accumulation in the grains, yields of corn grains, beans and soy, accumulated productivity and export of accumulated P of the three cultures. The three cultures assessed presented higher productivity when compared to the average of the factorial treatments that received phosphate fertilization relative to the control. Organomineral fertilizers increased grain production, obtaining average productivity equal to or greater than those obtained with the exclusive use of STP.

Ectophylla alba is a tent-making bat that roosts in mixed-sex clusters comprising adults and *** goal was to determine the genetic identity of individuals belonging to different roosting *** tested the hypothesis of kin selection as a major force structuring group *** used 9 microsatellites designed for *** to determine the genetic identity and probability of parentage of *** analyzed parentage and kinship using the software ML-Relate,GenAIEx,and *** obtained relationship probabilities(0.5)revealed a clear maternal relationship between female adults and offspring with allele compatibility,and at least 5 relationships between male adults and *** found a low degree of relatedness within roosting *** roosting groups at different sites,the mean probability of a half-sibling relationship ranged from 0.214 to 0.244 and,for full-sibling relationship,from 0.383 to ***,adult individuals were poorly related within clusters,and kinship as an evolutionary force could not explain group membership.

Surgical treatment of cementoblastoma associated with apicoectomy and endodontic therapy:Case report

This case report describes the surgical removal of cementoblastoma associated with apicoectomy and endodontic therapy. The patient, an 18-year-old man, presented pain in the region of the mandibular body on the right side. On clinical exam, bone expansion was observed in the region at the bottom of the vestibular sulcus, pain on palpation, slight extrusion of tooth 46 with presence of pulp vitality. Radiographic exams demonstrated the presence of a radiopaque area and discrete radiolucent halo associated with the root of tooth 46, suggesting the diagnosis of cementoblastoma. Endodontic treatment of tooth 46 was performed and exeresis of the lesion by apicoectomy. Twelve months after the first surgery, recurrence of the lesion was observed, and a new apicoectomy was necessary, this time up to the middle third of the root. Clinical radiographic control 12 mo after the second surgical intervention demonstrated absence of signs and symptoms, radiographic repair, with tooth 46 shown to be fully functional.

Introduction： Limited data are available regarding medical students’ habits related to long duration shifts and graduation classes that could negatively impact on their academic performance. The objective of this study is to identify the profile factors related to life quality and cardiovascular risk on medical students of a private university in Brazil. Methods： This study is based on a descriptive analysis of cross-sectional cohort of a sample of 490 students from the first to sixth year of medical school. The data were collected through an anonymous questionnaire. Results： Some of the data were： 81.6% of students reported alcohol ingestion, 5.9% are smokers and 13.9% reported use of illicit drugs, 27.9% informed adding salt to the food, 78.4% reported stress/anxiety. Conclusion： After observing all the collected data, a project was built for a longitudinal analysis of the influence of life style during the medical school years on mental and cardiovascular health, short and long term.

Ulcerated Lesion in Buccal Mucosa in a Patient with Paracoccidioidomycosis——Case Report

Paracoccidioidomycosis is the most prevalent systemic mycosis in Latin America. It is a fungal infection caused by the dimorphic fungus Paracoccidioides brasiliensis. This microorganism can penetrate the human body through direct contact and can cause intense lymphadenopathy, ulcerated lesions in the oral cavity and in the skin among other alterations. In this study, we report a case of paracoccidioidomycosis with unusual clinical presentation, as it manifested in the female sex and although it did not present any relevant complaints of respiratory focus, it presented a single ulcerated lesion in the buccal mucosa. A biopsy of the lesion and a mycological examination revealed Paracoccidioidesbrasiliensis infection.
