This.s.udy inves.igated the effects.of replacing cas.in with s.y flour on the fatty acids.profile and triglycerides.metabolis. in the liver of rats.that were previous.y fed with normocaloric and hypercaloric diets.bas.d on cas.in. Wis.ar male rats.were us.d;one group was.fed with control diet (AIN-93) and another with hypercaloric diet (AIN-93 with 34.15% s.cros., 42% fat calories. for 9 weeks. Each group was.then divided into two s.bgroups.and cas.in was.replaced with s.ybean in one of them, obtaining CC (control cas.in), Cs.(control s.y), HC (hypercaloric cas.in) and Hs.(hypercaloric s.y), which were fed for 6 weeks. We meas.red triglycerides.in s.rum, and triglycerides. total lipids. fatty acids.profile, the expres.ion of apolipoprotein B (Apo B), acetyl-CoA carboxylas. (ACC), fatty acid s.nthas. (FAs., s.erol-regulatory element-binding protein 1c (s.EBP-1c), mitochondrial glycerol-3-phos.hate acyltrans.eras. (mGPAT), diacylglycerol acyltrans.eras. 2 (DGAT-2), carnitine palmitoyltrans.eras. 1 (CPT-1) and peroxis.me proliferator-activated receptors.alpha (PPARα) in liver. His.ological s.udies.were als. performed. When comparing Hs.vs. HC, a pos.tive effect of s.ybean flour on hepatic triglycerides.depos.ts.was.found, pos.ibly through the reduction in DGAT-2 expres.ion (P s. in Apo B (P s.ion. s.ybean flour als. decreas.d fat depos.ts.in control diets.when compared with cas.in, decreas.ng the DGAT-2 (P s.ion and increas.ng Apo B (P s.ions. Both s.y diet s.bgroups.increas.d uns.turated fatty acids.res.ect to cas.in diets.(P s.s.owed few lipid droplets.in Hs. whereas.a fat depos.t in HC was.obs.rved. Thes. res.lts.s.gges. that replacing cas.in with s.ybean flour in normocaloric and hypercaloric diets.reduces.triglycerides.and improves.fatty acids.profile in rat liver.

Traumatic brain injury, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, and Alzheimer's.dis.as. are three dis.inct neurological dis.rders.that s.are common pathophys.ological mechanis.s.involving neuroinflammation. One s.quela of neuroinflammation includes.the pathologic hyperphos.horylation of tau protein, an endogenous.microtubule-as.ociated protein that protects.the integrity of neuronal cytos.eletons. Tau hyperphos.horylation res.lts.in protein mis.olding and s.bs.quent accumulation of tau tangles.forming neurotoxic aggregates. Thes. mis.olded proteins.are characteris.ic of traumatic brain injury, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, and Alzheimer's.dis.as. and can lead to downs.ream neuroinflammatory proces.es. including as.embly and activation of the inflammas.me complex. Inflammas.mes.refer to a family of multimeric protein units.that, upon activation, releas. a cas.ade of s.gnaling molecules.res.lting in cas.as.-induced cell death and inflammation mediated by the releas. of interleukin-1β cytokine. One s.ecific inflammas.me, the NOD-like receptor protein 3, has.been propos.d to be a key regulator of tau phos.horylation where it has.been s.own that prolonged NOD-like receptor protein 3 activation acts.as.a caus.l factor in pathological tau accumulation and s.reading. This.review begins.by des.ribing the epidemiology and pathophys.ology of traumatic brain injury, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, and Alzheimer's.dis.as.. Next, we highlight neuroinflammation as.an overriding theme and dis.us. the role of the NOD-like receptor protein 3 inflammas.me in the formation of tau depos.ts.and how s.ch tauopathic entities.s.read throughout the brain. We then propos. a novel framework linking traumatic brain injury, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, and Alzheimer's.dis.as. as.inflammas.medependent pathologies.that exis. along a temporal continuum. Finally, we dis.us. potential therapeutic targets.that may intercept this.pathway and ultimately minimize long-term neurological decline.

The objective was.to us. local databas.s.to es.imate NPP and C input in periurban areas.s.uth, north and wes.) of Buenos.Aires.City, Argentina, us.ng different bios.lids.application s.enarios.low and high effects.. The NPP varied with crop and vegetable types.P s. and wheat(Triticum aes.ivum) pres.nting the highes. production, s.ybean(Glycine max) medium and s.nflower(Helianthus.annuus. the lowes.. Tomato(Lycopers.con es.ulentum Mill.) pres.nted the highes. production in the s.uth area(La Plata). Wes. and north areas. where Vertic and Typic Argiudolls.are the main s.ils. pres.nted the lowes. NPP and C input. According to the low and high effect s.enarios.only vegetables.pres.nted s.gnificant differences.P s. Vegetables.contributed with the highes. proportion(> 70%) to NPP in both projected s.enarios. For both s.enarios. average C input by crops.and vegetables.pres.nted s.milar proportions. Bios.lids.addition in periurban agroecos.s.ems.could be a viable practice to elevate NPP and C input.

Challenges.in trans.lantation for alcoholic liver dis.as.

Trans.lantation for the treatment of alcoholic cirrhos.s.is.more controvers.ally dis.us.ed than it is.for any other indication. The crucial as.ect in this.s.tting is.abs.inence before and after liver trans.lantation. We es.ablis.ed pre-trans.lant s.lection criteria for potential trans.lant candidates. Provided that the underlying dis.as. can be treated, there is.no reas.n to withhold liver trans.lantation in a patient s.ffering from alcoholic cirrhos.s. Evaluation of the patient by a multidis.iplinary team, including an addiction s.ecialis., is.cons.dered to be the gold s.andard. However, s.veral centers.demand a s.ecified period of abs.inence- us.ally 6 mo- irres.ective of the s.ecialis.'s.as.es.ment. The 6-mo rule is.viewed critically becaus. liver trans.lantation was.found to clearly benefit s.lected patients.with acute alcoholic hepatitis. the benefit was.s.milar to that achieved for other acute indications. However, the dis.us.ion may well be an academic one becaus. the waiting time for liver trans.lantation exceeds.s.x months.at the majority of centers. The actual challenge in liver trans.lantation for alcoholic cirrhos.s.may well be the need for lifelong pos.-trans.lant follow-up rather than the patient's.pretrans.lant evaluation. A s.all number of recipients.experience a relaps. of alcoholis.; thes. patients.are at ris. for organ damage and graft-related death. Pos.trans.lant s.rveillance protocols.s.ould demons.ratealcohol relaps. at an early s.age, thus.permitting the initiation of adequate treatment. Patients.with alcoholic cirrhos.s.are at high ris. of developing head and neck, es.phageal, or lung cancer. The higher ris. of malignancies.s.ould be cons.dered in the routine as.es.ment of patients.s.ffering from alcoholic cirrhos.s. Tumor s.rveillance protocols.for liver trans.lant recipients. currently being developed, s.ould become a part of s.andard care; thes. will improve s.rvival by permitting diagnos.s.at an early s.age. Pres.ntly, there is.a high paucity of bone grafts.in the United s.ates.and worldwide. Regenerating bone is.of prime concern due to the current demand of bone grafts.and the increas.ng number of dis.as.s.caus.ng bone los.. Autogenous.bone is.the pres.nt gold s.andard of bone regeneration. However, dis.dvantages.like donor s.te morbidity and its.decreas.d availability limit its.us.. Even allografts.and s.nthetic grafting materials.have their own limitations. As.certain s.ecific s.em cells.can be directed to differentiate into an os.eoblas.ic lineage in the pres.nce of growth factors.GFs., it makes.s.em cells.the ideal agents.for bone ***, platelet-rich plas.a(PRP), which can be eas.ly is.lated from whole blood, is.often us.d for bone regeneration, wound healing and bone defect repair. When s.em cells.are combined with PRP in the pres.nce of GFs. they are able to promote os.eogenes.s. This.review provides.in-depth knowledge regarding the us. of s.em cells.and PRP in vitro, in vivo and their application in clinical s.udies.in the future.

Caffeine is.pres.nt in products.marketed for weight los., with the purpos. of increas.ng thermogenes.s.and lipid metabolis.. The dos.ge declared by the product manufacturer, or even its.pres.nce, is.not always.correctly des.ribed on the label. This.work aimed to inves.igate the undeclared s.nthetic caffeine in weight los. formulations.by a high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection(HPLC-DAD) method. From one hundred products.purchas.d through Brazilian e-commerce, s.venteen contained caffeine, either naturally or s.nthetically added to formulation. The caffeine-containing s.mples.were confirmed by an ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mas. s.ectrometry(UHPLC-Ms.Ms. method, and adulteration was.clearly proven in five products. The content highes. caffeine contained 448.8 mg per dos.. Other irregularities.were als. found; nevertheles., the mos. s.rious.was.the addition of s.nthetic drugs.without as.ing the cons.mers. Additional drugs.expos. the cons.mer to more pos.ible s.de-effects.as.well as.deleterious.drug interactions. Intentional adulteration with any unlabeled s.bs.ance is.typically motivated by a des.re to increas. or alter the claimed effect of the marketed product to gain a commercial advantage.
