To investigate serologically the presence of avian influenza virus (AIV) in backyard chickens from Mandlhakazi district, Southern *** total of 439 sera samples from unvaccinated and apparently healthy backyard chickens from 4 villages (Chidenguele, Macuacua, Chizavane, and Nwadjahane) were tested for the presence of AIV antibodies through commercial enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA) kit used according to manufacturer ***-AIV antibodies were detected in all villages surveyed. The overall seroprevalence obtained was 32.6% (95% CI 28.2%-37.0%). The highest prevalence of 51.3% (95% CI 42.3%-60.2%) was recorded in Macuacua village, while the lowest prevalence of 13.0% (95% CI 6.2%-19.9%) was found in Chizavane village. The results of logistic regression analyses suggested that chicken being located in Chizavane and Macuacua villages were more unlikely for getting the virus exposure (p pread within backyard chickens in the studied villages. Further research is needed to identify the circulating virus genotypes and determine the potential role of backyard chickens in the zoonotic transmission of AIV in Mozambique.

The aquafeed industry continues to expand in response to the rapidly growing aquaculture ***,the identification of alternative protein sources in aquatic animal diets to replace conventional sources due to cost and sustainability issues remains a major ***,insects have shown tremendous results as potential replacers of fishmeal in *** present study aimed to review the utilization of insects in aquafeeds and their effects on aquatic animals’growth and feed utilization,immune response and disease resistance,and fish flesh quality and *** many insect species have been investigated in aquaculture,the black soldier fly(Hermetia illucens),and the mealworm(Tenebrio molitor)are the most studied and most promising insects to replace fishmeal in ***,insect rearing conditions and biomass processing methods may affect the product’s nutritional composition,digestibility,shelf life and required insect inclusion level by aquatic ***,insect-recommended inclusion levels for aquatic animals vary depending on the insect species used,biomass processing method,and test ***,while an appropriate inclusion level of insects in aquafeed provides several nutritional and health benefits to aquatic animals,more studies are needed to establish optimum requirements levels for different aquaculture species at different stages of development and under different culture systems.

Mapping of thin sandstone reservoirs in bisol field, Niger delta, Nigeria using spectral decomposition technique

This study focuses on using spectral decomposition(SD)technique to characterize complicated reservoirs to understand the structural and stratigraphic variations in the interpreted horizons from Bisol *** purpose of this study is to use geophysical and well logging data sets to map the thin-bedded sandstone reservoirs and prospect zones within the multiple reservoirs in Bisol field,Niger *** interpretation of faults and horizons was carried out on the seismic section,which was further used to produce the structural *** attributes such as trace and variance were used to enhance the truncated structures from the seismic section,while the produced spectra were used to delineate the stratigraphy and thickness of the thin-bedded *** sandstone reservoirs were identified from well logs and consequently mapped on the seismic *** Fourier Transform workflow was successfully used to image the stratigraphic features in the study *** horizons(S1T,S2T and S3T)were delineated from the seismic section,and four reservoirs were mapped and correlated across the *** analyses from the seismic sectional view revealed some thin pay sandstone reservoirs,which were characterized by high *** new probable zones(prospect A,B and C)of hydrocarbon accumulation were identified using the SD technique.

The development of new technology for food production is essential to sustain man’s needs for survival. The use of farmlands for food production and industrial purposes goes beyond the carrying capacity of the environment. The study determined the applicability of Vertical Farming using Hydroponic Technology to onion production in Nueva Ecija, philippines. The country is known as the onion capital of Southeast Asia. The study measured the technology’s sustainability and acceptability to onion farmers. By using experimental method, interview, and Focused Group Discussions (FGD), the study established its viability. Three phases of field experiments were conducted in August 2016, May 2017 and July 2017 using the Vertical Farming and Hydroponics Technology and Single Factor Analysis of Variance. The results showed that there is significant difference in the growth of onion bulb per week and the suitability and comparability of the technology to conventional farming. The study concluded that the VFH technology is acceptable to most onion farmers except the aspect of the cost of initial investment which requires government subsidy for the ordinary onion grower to avail of this new and sustainable technology in onion production.

In recent years,the Internet has become the primary source of health information for the general population,which may be attributed to improvements in digital technology and Internet accessibility[1].Since the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as a pandemic in March 2020[2],digital information has gained more importance,as seen through the rapid growth in the number of people searching online[3].As seen from previous infectious disease outbreaks,the recent increase in monkeypox cases might compel individuals worldwide to broaden their searches for relevant virtual health information[3,4].

The relationship between climate and labor flexibility has been distinguished as an antecedent of *** this sense,the objective of this work was to explore the factorial structure of the organizational binomial.A cross-sectional,psychometric,and correlational study was carried out with a sample of 100 employees from organizations in central *** were selected based on their affiliation with the local chamber of *** results show the prevalence of six factors related to the leadership climate,compensation,structure,logistics,contingencies,and *** total explained variance reached 71%,although the correlation analysis and the factorial structure indicate the inclusion of another factor that the literature identifies as entrepreneurial and innovative flexibility.

Microfluidic systems are widely used in fundamental research and industrial applications due to their unique behavior, enhanced control, and manipulation opportunities of liquids in constrained geometries. In micrometer-sized channels, electric fields are efficient mechanisms for manipulating liquids, leading to deflection, injection, poration or electrochemical modification of cells and droplets. While pDMS-based microfluidic devices are used due to their inexpensive fabrication, they are limited in terms of electrode integration. Using silicon as the channel material, microfabrication techniques can be used to create nearby electrodes. Despite the advantages that silicon provides, its opacity has prevented its usage in most important microfluidic applications that need optical access. To overcome this barrier, silicon-on-insulator technology in microfluidics is introduced to create optical viewports and channel-interfacing electrodes. More specifically, the microfluidic channel walls are directly electrified via selective, nanoscale etching to introduce insulation segments inside the silicon device layer, thereby achieving the most homogeneous electric field distributions and lowest operation voltages feasible across microfluidic channels. These ideal electrostatic conditions enable a drastic energy reduction, as effectively shown via picoinjection and fluorescence-activated droplet sorting applications at voltages below 6 and 15 V, respectively, facilitating low-voltage electric field applications in next-generation microfluidics.

This work presents a comprehensive second-order predictive modeling (pM) methodology based on the maximum entropy (MaxEnt) principle for obtaining best-estimate mean values and correlations for model responses and parameters. This methodology is designated by the acronym 2p>ndp>-BERRU-pMp, where the attribute “2p>ndp>” indicates that this methodology incorporates second- order uncertainties (means and covariances) and second (and higher) order sensitivities of computed model responses to model parameters. The acronym BERRU stands for “Best-Estimate Results with Reduced Uncertainties” and the last letter (“p”) in the acronym indicates “probabilistic,” referring to the MaxEnt probabilistic inclusion of the computational model responses. This is in contradistinction to the 2p>ndp>-BERRU-pMD methodology, which deterministically combines the computed model responses with the experimental information, as presented in the accompanying work (part I). Although both the 2p>ndp>-BERRU-pMp and the 2p>ndp>-BERRU-pMD methodologies yield expressions that include second (and higher) order sensitivities of responses to model parameters, the respective expressions for the predicted responses, for the calibrated predicted parameters and for their predicted uncertainties (covariances), are not identical to each other. Nevertheless, the results predicted by both the 2p>ndp>-BERRU-pMp and the 2p>ndp>-BERRU-pMD methodologies encompass, as particular cases, the results produced by the extant data assimilation and data adjustment procedures, which rely on the minimization, in a least-square sense, of a user-defined functional meant to represent the discrepancies between measured and computed model responses.

Litter production and decomposition are critical to forest productivity,nutrient cycling,and carbon seques-tration in tropical woody ***,nutrient release and leaf litter stoichiometry in tropical legume tree plantations over the long term after outplanting are poorly understood or even *** improving our under-standing of the pattern of changes in the decomposition of N-fixing leaf litters and their possible impact on carbon stor-age,we measured litter production,mass loss and nutrient release for 240 d during litter decomposition for two tropical legume tree species(plathymenia reticulata and Hymenaea courbaril),in Rio de Janeiro,*** production for *** was 5.689 kg ha^(−1) a^(−1) and 3.231 kg ha^(−1) a^(−1) for *** patterns of mass loss rates were similar;however,nutrient release was greater for ***,while *** showed immobilization of nutrients,especially for N,which increased by almost 20%in the early phase of decomposition followed by gradual *** from the N-fixing species did differ in nutrient chemistries over time,which was not surprising given that initial nutrient concentrations varied broadly,except for C and *** of the nutrient concentrations increased as the remaining litter mass decreased in both species,except for C and *** C:N and N:p ratios differed between the species,but N:p did not correlate to mass *** species had N-rich leaves,but *** decomposition was very likely p-limited,while *** seemed to be co-limited by N and *** results showed different patterns in nutrient release and the stoichi-ometry involved in the decomposition dynamics of the two tropical N-fixing species,even though they have similar litter decay *** species,but especially ***,may help re-establish nutrient cycling in disturbed ecosystems.

Objective： The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of various taekwondo kicks and age （school level） in absolute terms and relative body mass on the resultant linear acceleration （RLA） of an instrumented head form. Methods： Forty-eight male （middle school： 16; high school： 16; university： 16） taekwondo athletes were recruited for this study. Subjects performed 10 turning, 10 jump spinning hook, and 10 jump back kicks on a Hybrid II head mounted on a height-adjustable frame. Results： A 2-way （School x Kick） MANOVA was used to determine the differences in RLA between schools （age groups） by type of kick. There was no univariate School main effect for absolute RLA （η2 = 0.06） and RLA relative to body mass （η2 = 0.06）. No univariate Kick main effects were found for absolute （η2 = 0.06） and relative RLA （η2 = 0.06）. Conclusion： It is of concern that RLA did not significantly differ between school levels, implying that young taekwondo athletes generate similar forces to their adult counterparts, possibly exposing young athletes to an increased risk for head ir^iuries.
