SmartSurf^(ACE)transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy with mitomycin C enhancement after small incision lenticule extraction

Background:To evaluate predictability,stability,efficacy,and safety of transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy(TPrK)using smart pulse technology(SPT)(SmartSurface procedure)of Schwind Amaris with mitomycin C for correction of post small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE)myopic residual refractive ***:This study is a prospective,non-comparative case series conducted at a private eye centre in Ismailia,Egypt,on eyes with post-SMILE myopic residual refractive errors because of undercorrection or suction loss(suction loss occurred after the posterior lenticular cut and the creation of side-cuts;redocking was attempted,and the treatment was completed in the same session with the same parameters)with myopia or myopic *** patients were followed up post-SMILE for six months before the SmartSurface procedure,and then they were followed up for one year after *** were performed using Amaris excimer laser at 500 *** main outcomes included refractive predictability,stability,efficacy,safety and any reported ***:This study included 68 eyes of 40 patients out of 1920 total eyes(3.5%)with post-SMILE technique myopic residual refractive *** average duration between the SMILE surgery and TPrK was 6.7±0.4 months(range 6 to 8 months).The mean refractive spherical equivalent(SE)was within±0.50 D of plano correction in 100%of the eyes at 12 months *** ofresidual SE error showed statistically significant improvement from preoperative−1.42±0.52 D to 0.23±0.10 D(Prrected distance visual acuity(UDVA)(measured by Snellen’s chart and averaged in logMAr units)was improved significantly to 0.1±0.07(Pr or better in 100%of the eyes,0.1 logMAr or better in 91.2%of the eyes,and 0.0 logMAr in 20.6%of the *** distance visual acuity(CDVA)remained unchanged in 79.4%of eyes.14.7%of eyes gained one line of CDVA(Snellen).

Synthesis and pharmacological properties of naturally occurring prenylated and pyranochalcones as potent anti-inflammatory agents

An efficient approach has been developed for the synthesis of naturally occurring prenylated chalcones viz. kanzonol C （1）, stipulin （2）, crotaorixin （3）, medicagenin （4）, licoagrochalcone A （5） and abyssinone D （6） along with the pyranochalcones paratocarpin C （7）, anthyllisone （8） and 3-O-methylabyssinone A （9）. The key step of the synthesis is a Claisen-Schmidt condensation. Subsequently, their anti-inflammatory effects were investigated in lipopolysaccharides （LPSs）-induced rAW-264.7 macrophages. Of the synthesized chalcones, compounds 5 （IC50= 10.41 μmol[L）, 6 （IC50= 9.65 μmol/L） and 8 （IC50= 15.34 μmol/L） show remarkable activity with no cytotoxicity. Compound 9 （IC50 = 4.5 μmol/L） exhibits maximum （83.6%） nitric oxide （NO） inhibition, but shows slight cytotoxicity. The results reveal that the chalcones bearing the prenyl group at 3- and/or 5-position on ring A （acetophenone moiety）, i.e., 1-4 and 7 show weak, or no inhibition activity, whereas chalcones having the prenyl group only on ring B （aldehyde part）, i.e., 5, 6 and 8 show significant activity on the production of inflammatory mediated NO with no cytotoxicity.

Examining global warming factors using self-organizing map and Granger causality network:a case from South Korea

Background Understanding and patterning the possible causal variables of global warming is attributed to the development of effective prevention and mitigation strategies for climate ***,we aimed to pattern and visualize the possible causal variables of global warming and measure the causality between *** We patterned and visualized the time series(103 years,from 1918 to 2020)of global surface temperature(GTemp)data with the gross domestic product(GDP)per capita,human population(Pop),and carbon dioxide(CO_(2))emissions of South Korea using a self-organizing map(SOM)and examined the causable local feature of global warming using the Granger causality(GC)*** time-series data were trained and mapped in 4×4 SOM grids,and causality networks between variables were examined using multivariate Granger test *** SOM patterned 103 years of data,and a dominant cluster contained continuous time-series data from 2007 to ***,the CO_(2)emissions of South Korea were obtained as a predictable unidirectional causal variable for GTemp from GC *** on data from the past 34 years,significant causality(p-value=0.01)was observed with the integrated effect of Pop,GDP,and CO_(2)on *** This study patterned the time-series data using SOM and examined the causal relationship between variables using the GC *** study framework could be used as a reference by future scholars,ecologists,and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Improving acoustical characteristics of a Gothic cathedral using simple public address system： A case study of Nlyeong-dong Cathedral in Seoul, Korea

In the present study, improving acoustical characteristics of a Gothic cathedral （Myeong-dong Cathedral, which is the first built Western Gothic-style architecture in Korea） using simple public address system were investigated. Acoustical measurements were conducted at 11 selected points inside the cathedral and seven acoustical parameters were calculated： sound pressure level （SPL）： 64.6 dBA （the measurement value with regard to the omni-directional speaker sound source）; 74.5 dBA （the measurement value with regard to the public address speaker sound source）, early decay time （EDT）： 4.04 s; 3.76 s, reverberation time （rT6o）： 3.58 s; 3.89 s, clarity （Cso）： -6.2 dB; -2.8 dB, definition （D50）： 18%; 29%, initial time delay gap （ITDG）： 47 ms; 23 ms, and rapid speech transmission index （rASTI）： 32%; 42%. Parameters showed that the acoustical characteristics of a typical Gothic cathedral include rich reverberation and diffusive sound fields. Meanwhile, there was improved speech intelligibility when using simple public address system. Based on subjective evaluation, there was overall satisfaction with voice and music recognition and the highest satisfaction with clarity with respect to voice recognition and with reverberation with respect to music recognition. This is a good solution of optimized acoustic environment through harmony between natural reverberation and reinforced clarity using simple public address system.

First synthesis and in vitro biological assessment of isosideroxylin,6,8-dimethylgenistein and their analogues as nitric oxide production inhibition agents

A modular and efficient synthesis of the biologically significant C-methylisoflavones isosideroxylin（1）,6,8-dimethylgenistein（2） and their analogues（3-8） is established for the first *** synthesis is realized in 7-8 steps in overall yields of 16%-24%from commercially inexpensive phloroglucinol and features a high yielding Vilsmeier-Haack reaction,Friedel-Crafts acylation,Gammill＇s protocol and Suzuki coupling as the pivotal ***,these compounds evaluated for their inhibitory potency on the production of nitric oxide（NO） in lipopolysaccharide（LPS）-activated rAW-264.7 cells as an indicator of anti-inflammatory *** results showed that all the compounds decreased NO production in a dose-dependent manner without marked cytotoxicity and IC_（50） values are found in the range of 10.17-33.88 μmol/*** note,compounds 3 followed by 1,7 and 8 show comparable inhibitory activity with positive control（N-monomethyl-L-arginine,L-NMMA）.

Electroreduction of Tungsten Oxide（VI） in Molten Salts with Added Metaphosphate

Tungstate ions WO4^2- are not electrochemically active in chloride melts. Upon introduction of PO3 ions into the melt, two waves appear in the voltammograms at potentials -0.1-- -0.2 V and -0.3-- -0.5 V vs. Pb/Pb2＋ reference electrode. With a PO3- concentration ratio of 0.01〈[PO3-]/[WO42-]〈0.18, the potentiostatic electrolysis product of WO42 at the above mentioned potentials is metallic tungsten; a NaPO3 concentration increase for ratios [PO3-]/[WO42-]〉〉0.18 results in tungsten phosphide in electrolysis product. Cyclic voltammograms and dependence of half-peak potentials on electrode polarization rate indicate the irreversible character of the electrode process. Elec- trode process modeling allows us to state that the first wave in the voltammogram of KC1-NaC1-Na2WOa-NaPO3 sys- tem corresponds to tungsten oxychlorides discharge while the second wave appears due to the discharge of di- tungstate ions. In the voltammograms of Na2WOa-NaPO3 melts, reduction wave was observed at -1.1-- -1.2 V po- tentials. Proportionality of limiting current to NaPO3 concentration, constancy of ld/V1/2 ratio, and IJnFc constant ki- netic value equal to （8.3--9.5）×10-5 cm/s for steady-state wave indicate that electrode process rate is limited by elec- trochemically active particle diffusion to the electrode. Nascent ditungstate ions become electrochemically active in the overall electrode process. Charge transfer stage is reversible.

EAFoC： Enterprise Architecture Framework Based on Commonality

The recent rapid development in information systems （ISs） has resulted in a critical need for integration and interoperability between heterogeneous ISs in various domains, using specific commonalities. However, stovepipe systems have been caused due to inconsistencies in planning IS architecture among stakeholders. So far, there has been no research on an enterprise architecture framework （EAF） that can satisfy with the coefficient factors of system architecture （SA） and enterprise architecture （EA）. This paper proposes a new EAF that can resolve the problems inherent in existing legacy EAFs and their features. EAFoC （Enterprise Architecture Framework based on Commonality） is based on commonality that can be satisfied as the coefficient factors in both SA and EA within a common information technology （IT） domain. Thus, it should be possible to integrate an established heterogeneous framework for each stakeholder＇s view. Consequently, the most important contribution of this paper is to establish the appropriate EAFoC for the development of consistent IS architecture, smooth communication among stakeholders, systematic integration management of diversified and complicated new IT technologies, interoperability among heterogeneous ISs, and reusability based on commonality with other platforms.

Efficient Computer Aided Diagnosis System for Hepatic Tumors Using Computed Tomography Scans

One of the leading causes of mortality worldwide is liver *** earlier the detection of hepatic tumors,the lower the mortality *** paper introduces a computer-aided diagnosis system to extract hepatic tumors from computed tomography scans and classify them into malignant or benign *** hepatic tumors from computed tomography scans is considered a challenging task due to the fuzziness in the liver pixel range,intensity values overlap between the liver and neighboring organs,high noise from computed tomography scanner,and large variance in tumors *** proposed method consists of three main stages;liver segmentation using Fast Generalized Fuzzy C-Means,tumor segmentation using dynamic thresholding,and the tumor’s classification into malignant/benign using support vector machines *** performance of the proposed system was evaluated using three liver benchmark datasets,which are MICCAI-Sliver07,LiTS17,and *** proposed computer adided diagnosis system achieved an average accuracy of 96.75%,sensetivity of 96.38%,specificity of 95.20%and Dice similarity coefficient of 95.13%.
