Hepatitis e virus infection: epidemiology and treatment implications

Hepatitis e virus(HeV) infection is now established as an emerging enteric viral hepatitis. Standard treatments in acute and chronic hepatitis e remain to be established. This study undertakes a review of the epidemiology, treatment implication and vaccine prevention from published literature. HeV infection is a worldwide public health problem and can cause acute and chronic hepatitis e. HeV genotypes 1 and 2 are primarily found in developing countries due to waterborne transmission, while the zoonotic potential of genotypes 3 and 4 affects mostly industrialized countries. An awareness of HeV transmission through blood donation, especially in the immunocompromised and solid organ transplant patients, merits an effective anti-viral therapy. There are currently no clear indications for the treatment of acute hepatitis e. Despite concerns for side effects, ribavirin monotherapy or in combination with pegylatedinterferon alpha for at least 3 mo appeared to show significant efficacy in the treatment of chronic hepatitis e. However, there are no available treatment options for specific patient population groups, such as women who are pregnant. Vaccination and screening of HeV in blood donors are currently a global priority in managing infection. New strategies for the treatment and control of hepatitis e are required for both acute and chronic infections, such as prophylactic use of medications, controlling large outbreaks, and finding acceptable antiviral therapy for pregnant women and other patient groups for whom the current options of treatment are not viable.

Background: Anastatica hierochuntica L. (Brassicaceae) has been claimed to treat various conditions, including complicated childbirth. The principal objective of this research was to provide scientific evidence on the contractile effect of the aqueous and hydroethanolic extracts of the whole plant from A. hierochuntica during labor. Method: Qualitative and quantitative methods helped identify and quantify the phytoconstituents in both extracts. The antioxidant activity was studied using four standard methods (ABTS, DPPH, FRAP, and LPO). Results: The inhibitory power of the extracts on pro-inflammatory enzymes such as 15-lipoxygenase and phospholipase A2 was determined. The contractile effects of the extracts were evaluated using isolated pregnant mice uteri. Steroids, triterpenoids, flavonoids, tannins, coumarins, and reduced compounds were identified in both extracts. The hydroethanolic extract exhibited higher content of hydrolyzable tannins (15.07 ± 0.24 mg tannic acid equivalent/g) than the aqueous decoction (11.8 ± 0.69 mg TAe/g). The extracts demonstrated the ability to scavenge DPPH and ABTS radicals, reduce ferric ions, and inhibit especially lipid peroxidation. No significant difference was noted in the phospholipase inhibition between the extracts and betamethasone. The hydroethanolic extract displayed the most significant anti-lipoxygenase activity with an IC50 value of 55.82 ± 1.15 μg/mL. The lethal dose (LD50) of extracts was estimated to be superior to 2000 mg/kg body weight (bw). The ability of the samples to produce one cm amplitude of contraction at 50% effective concentrations (eC50) was 5.33 × 10−8 ± 0.32 mg/mL for oxytocin, 1.51 ± 0.08 mg/mL for aqueous extract and 3.57 ± 0.61 mg/mL for hydroethanolic extract. Conclusion: These findings could provide evidence for using Anastatica hierochuntica to facilitate childbirth.

用三次蒸馏水和模拟胃液提取、分离、ICP-AeS等法测定蒙药孟根-乌苏-18中十六种金属元素含量。实验结果显示:蒙药孟根-乌苏-18中对人体有益的ga、Mg、Fe、Mn、Zn等元素含量相对高,而对人体有害的重金属元素含量相对较低。但Hg元素含量相当高,达到6.1437mg·g-1,远远超出国家标准(0.0002mg·g-1)。同时进行了初级形态分析,计算了各元素的提取率、浸留比和残留率等形态分析参数。并对孟根-乌苏-18中的汞进行次级形态分析,其中主要测定了无机态和有机态中的汞含量。

Genetic Algorithm (ga) is a biologically inspired technique and widely used to solve numerous combinational optimization problems. It works on a population of individuals, not just one single solution. As a result, it avoids converging to the local optimum. However, it takes too much CPU time in the late process of ga. On the other hand, in the late process Simulated Annealing (sa) converges faster than ga but it is easily trapped to local optimum. In this letter, a useful method that unifies ga and sa is introduced, which utilizes the advantage of the global search ability of ga and fast convergence of sa. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms ga in terms of CPU time without degradation of performance. It also achieves highly comparable placement cost compared to the state-of-the-art results obtained by Versatile Place and Route (VPR) Tool.

采用细菌学方法对西藏拉萨当雄、林芝、日喀则、阿里、那曲、昌都等6个地区牦牛大肠杆菌疑似病例粪样中分离鉴定大肠杆菌后,采用WHO推荐的K-B纸片法对西藏6个不同地区的11种菌株对15种抗菌药物的敏感性。结果显示,这些菌株对15种药物产生了不同程度的耐药。其中对头孢唑啉、氨苄西林、多西环素、头孢氨苄、呋喃妥因、新霉素的耐药率较高,其中对头孢唑啉耐药率为100%,对后5种药的耐药率也高达90.9%,对四环素和链霉素的耐药率达81.8%,对阿米卡星、阿莫西林和庆大霉素的耐药率分别为72.7%和63.4%、对卡那霉素耐药程度较低,达36.3%。;但耐药菌株对氧氟沙星、氟罗沙星、诺氟沙星等药物的敏感性较高,达90.9%~100%,由此可见,西藏牦牛大肠杆菌分离株的多重耐药现象较严重。

Most cancers occur in older people and the burden in this age group is *** the past two decades the evidence on how best to treat this population has increased ***,implementation of new best practices has been slow and needs involvement of *** perspective paper explains why older people with cancer have different needs than the wider *** overview is given of the recommended approach for older people with cancer and its benefits on clinical outcomes and *** older patients,the geriatric assessment(ga)is the gold standard to measure level of fitness and to determine treatment *** ga,with multiple domains of physical health,functional status,psychological health and socio-environmental factors,prevents initiation of inappropriate oncologic treatment and recommends geriatric interventions to optimize the patient’s general health and thus resilience for receiving *** studies have proven its benefits such as reduced toxicity,better quality of life,better patient-centred communication and lower healthcare *** ga might require investment of time and resources,this is relatively small compared to the improved outcomes,possible cost-savings and compared to the large cost of oncologic treatments as a whole.
