Energy-saving and economic analysis of passive radiative sky cooling for telecommunication base station in China

The widespread application of 4G and the rapid development of 5G technologies dramatically increase the energy consumption of telecommunication base station (TBS). Remarkably, the air conditioning system accounts for a significant part of energy consumption in TBS. In this work, passive radiative sky cooling technology has been studied to explore its application potential for TBS. We built a simulation model in DeST to investigate the effect of various envelope thermophysical properties on TBS energy saving. The main influencing factors of the radiative sky cooling on TBS energy saving have been concluded and guidance has been raised for further application. An optimized envelope design combining radiative sky cooling with appropriate heat transfer coefficients has been proposed. The energy-saving and economic analysis of the optimized envelope design at different areas shows that, except for the low heat density TBS in severe cold areas, the annual energy-saving rate is 6.77%–64.29%, and the annual total energy saving is 21.94 kWh/m2–52.74 kWh/m2. The payback period is 1.55–4.67 years, and the maximum acceptable cost limited to a 5-year payback period is $3.21/m2–$9.67/m2.

In this study,the nonlocal strain gradient theory is adopted to investigate the static bending deformation of a functionally graded(FG)multilayered nanoplate made of onedimensional hexagonal piezoelectric quasicrystal(PQC)materials subjected to mechanical and electrical surface *** FG materials are assumed to be exponential distribution along the thickness *** closed-form solutions of an FG PQC nanoplate including nonlocality and strain gradient micro-size dependency are derived by utilizing the pseudo-Stroh *** propagator matrix method is further used to solve the multilayered case by assuming that the layer interfaces are perfectly *** examples for two FG sandwich nanoplates made of piezoelectric crystals and PQC are provided to show the influences of nonlocal parameter,strain gradient parameter,exponential factor,length-to-width ratio,loading form,and stacking sequence on the static deformation of two FG sandwich nanoplates,which play an important role in designing new smart composite structures in engineering.

Rechargeable proton batteries have been regarded as a promising technology for next-generation energy storage devices,due to the smallest size,lightest weight,ultrafast diffusion kinetics and negligible cost of proton as charge ***,a proton battery possessing both high energy and power density is yet *** addition,poor cycling stability is another major challenge making the lifespan of proton batteries *** issues have motivated extensive research into electrode ***,the design of electrode–electrolyte interphase and electrolytes is underdeveloped for solving the *** this review,we summarize the development of interphase and electrolytes for proton batteries and elaborate on their importance in enhancing the energy density,power density and battery *** fundamental understanding of interphase is reviewed with respect to the desolvation process,interfacial reaction kinetics,solvent-electrode interactions,and analysis *** categorize the currently used electrolytes according to their physicochemical properties and analyze their electrochemical potential window,solvent(e.g.,water)activities,ionic conductivity,thermal stability,and ***,we offer our views on the challenges and opportunities toward the future research for both interphase and electrolytes for achieving high-performance proton batteries for energy storage.

The present study focuses on an inextensible beam and its relevant inertia nonlinearity,which are essentially distinct from the commonly treated extensible beam that is dominated by the geometric ***,by considering a weakly constrained or free end(in the longitudinal direction),the inextensibility assumption and inertial nonlinearity(with and without an initial curvature)are *** a straight beam,a multi-scale analysis of hardening/softening dynamics reveals the effects of the end stiffness/*** the straight scenario,a refined inextensible curved beam model is further proposed,accounting for both its inertial nonlinearity and geometric nonlinearity induced by the initial *** numerical results for the frequency responses are also presented to illustrate the dynamic effects of the initial curvature and axial constraint,i.e.,the end mass and end stiffness.

Thermal Performances of High-Temperature Thermal Energy Storage System with Tin Embedded in Copper Matrix by Theoretical Methods

There is a critical need to develop advanced high-temperature thermal storage systems to improve efficiencies and reduce the costs of solar thermal storage *** this work,two typical systems composed with Cu as matrix and Sn as the phase change material(PCM)are explored,namely,the 3-deimentional(3D)structure system by embedding Sn particles into Cu matrix and the 2-deimentional(2D)structure system by embedding Sn wires into Cu *** the thermophysical properties of a nanomaterial could be importantly different from that of a bulk one,we thus firstly derive the thermophysical properties of PCM and matrix theoretically,like the thermal conductivity by kinetic method and the specific heat capacity based on Lindemann’s *** then,these properties are utilized to estimate the energy storage ability in both 3D and 2D structure system,and the influence of structure on heat transfer efficiency is theoretically investigated in both 3D and 2D structure *** turn out that 3D structure system is a better choice than a 2D structure system,because of larger specific surface area,a larger sensitive heat capacity and a larger thermal *** the feature size of the PCM decreases to be less than a critical value which is about 500 nm for Sn,the thermal conductivity of the system decreases exponentially while the heat storage capacity increases ***,when the feature size of Sn geometry is less than a critical value,which is 15 nm for 3D structure system and 25 nm for 2D structure,the Cu matrix can’t play a role in improving the effective thermal conductivity of the whole system.

Based on the modified couple-stress theory,the three-dimensional(3D)bending deformation and vibration responses of simply-supported and multilayered twodimensional(2D)decagonal quasicrystal(QC)nanoplates are *** surface loading is assumed to be applied on the top surface in the bending analysis,the tractionfree boundary conditions on both the top and bottom surfaces of the nanoplates are used in the free vibration analysis,and a harmonic concentrated point loading is applied on the top surfaces of the nanoplates in the harmonic response *** general solutions of the extended displacement and traction vectors for the homogeneous QC nanoplates are derived by solving the eigenvalue problem reduced from the final governing equations of motion with the modified couple-stress *** utilizing the propagator matrix method,the analytical solutions of the displacements of bending deformation for the phonon and phason fields,the natural frequency of free vibration,and the displacements of the harmonic responses of the phonon and phason fields are *** examples are illustrated to show the effects of the quasiperiodic direction,the material length scale parameter,and the the stacking sequence of the nanoplates on the bending deformation and vibration responses of two sandwich nanoplates made of QC and crystal materials.
