BAcKGROUnD Video-capsule endoscopy(VcE)is an efficient tool that has proven to be highly useful in approaching several gastrointestinal *** was implemented in.c.lombia in 2003,however current characterization of patients undergoing VcE in.c.lombia is limited,and mainly comes from two investigations conducted before the SARS-coV-2 pandemic *** To describe the characteristics of patients undergoing VcEs and establish the main indications,findings,techn.c.l limitations,and other outstanding *** A descriptive study was carried out using data from reports of VcE(Pillcam SB3 system)use in a Gastroenterology Unit in Bogotá,colombia between September 2019 and January *** and clin.c.l variables such as indication for the VcE,gastric and small bowel transit times(GTT,SBTT),endoscopic preparation quality,and limitations were described[n(%),median(IQR)].RESULTS A total of 133 VcE reports were *** were in men with a median age of 70 *** majority had good preparation(96.2%),and there were techn.c.l limitations in 15.8%of *** main indications were unexplained anemia(91%)or occult bleeding(23.3%).The median GTT and SBTT were 14 and 30 minutes,*** frequencies of bleeding stigma(3.79%)and active bleeding(9.09%)were low,and the most frequent abnormal findings were red spots(28.3%),erosions(17.6%),and vascular ectasias(12.5%).cOncLUSIOn VcE showed high-level *** main indication was unexplained *** bleeding was the most frequent *** with artificial intelligence,VcE can improve diagnostic precision and targeted therapeutic interventions.

Organ.c.inorgan.c.hybrid perovskites have gained great attention as promising photocatalysts for hydrogen ***,due to their poor stability in water,the use of aqueous hydrohalic acid solutions is specifically required for an efficient hydrogen ***,three novel photoactive lead-free hybrid perovskites based on bismuth and triazolium cations(denoted as IEF-15,IEF-16,and IEF-17(IEF stands for IMDEA energy frameworks))were synthesized and fully characterized(structural,compositional,optical,etc.).Further,these solids were proposed as photocatalysts for the challenging gas phase overall water splitting(OWS)***,IEF-16 thin films exhibited a remarkable photocatalytic activity in both H_(2) and O_(2) evolution,as a consequence of its appropriate bandgap and energy-band alignment,achieving hydrogen evolution rates ofμmol·g_(H_(2))^(-)1846 and 360 after 24 h under ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis)irradiation or simulated solar irradiation,*** study additionally highlights the remarkable structural and photochemical stability of IEF-16 under different operational conditions(*** volume,irradiation and temperature),paving the way for green hydrogen production from OWS using perovskite-based photocatalysts.

BAcKGROUnD The use of uncemented cups during total hip arthroplasty(THA)has gained popularity in recent *** Robert Mathys(RM)pressfit cup,an uncemented monoblock implant is expected to preserve bone density due to its composition and external surface,while reducing backside wear with its monoblock *** factors should lead to a high survival rate of the *** To evaluate the mid-term survival and functional outcome of the RM Pressfit cup in a large study *** Between 2011 and 2020,we included 1324 patients receiving a primary THA using the RM pressfit *** clin.c.l follow-up was performed at 2 years postoperatively with the Dutch arthroplasty register used to assess implant status *** for acetabular failure and reason for revision were reported to evaluate implant survival,while the hip disability and osteoarthritis outcome score(HOOS)scores were used to assess functional *** The mean age at surgery was 64.9 *** mean follow-up was 4.6 *** the 1324 THAs performed,13 needed cup revisions within 5 years after index THA:5 due to aseptic loosening,6 due to infection,2 due to dislocation and 2 due to other *** resulted in a 5-year cup survival of 98.8%(95%cI:98.1-99.5).nine of the cup revisions occurred within the first year after index *** scores increased significantly in all domains during the first year and levelled out during the second *** In the present study,the RM pressfit cup demonstrated excellent clin.c.l outcomes at mid-term follow-up;however,future studies are needed to assess the long-term outcomes of this acetabular implant.

The effectiveness of different wear indicators in quantifying wear on railway wheels of freight wagons

Railway infrastructure relies on the dynamic interaction between wheels and rails;thus,assessing wheel wear is a critical aspect of maintenance and *** paper focuses on the wheel-rail wear indicator T-gamma(Tγ).Amidst its use,it becomes apparent that Tγ,while valuable,fails to provide a comprehensive reflection of the actual material removal and actual contact format,which means that using only Tγas a target for optimization of profiles is not *** this work,three different freight wagons are evaluated:a meter-gauge and a broad-gauge heavy haul vehicles from South American railways,and a standard-gauge freight vehicle operated in Europe,with different axle loads and dissimilar new wheel/rail *** vehicles are subjected to comprehensive multibody simulations on various *** simulations aimed to elucidate the intricate relationship between different wear indicators:Tγ,wear index,material removal,and maximum wear depth,under diverse curves,non.c.mpensated lateral accelerations(A_(nc)),and *** findings showed a correlation of 0.96 between Tγand wear depth and 0.82 between wear index and material removed for the outer *** the results,the Tγis better than the wear index to be used when analyzing wear depth while the wear index is more suited to foresee the material *** results also show the low influence of A_(nc)on wear index and Tγ.By considering these factors together,the study aims to improve the understanding of wheel-rail wear by selecting the best wear analysis approaches based on the effectiveness of each parameter.

Optimisation of Thermal comfort of Building in a Hot and Dry Tropical climate: A comparative Approach between.c.mpressed Earth/concrete Block Envelopes

compressed earth blocks (cEB) are an alternative to cement blocks in the construction of wall masonry. However, the optimal architectural construction methods for adequate thermal comfort for occupants in hot and arid environments are not mastered. This article evaluates the influence of architectural and constructive modes of buildings made of cEB walls and concrete block walls, to optimize and compare their thermal comfort in the hot and dry tropical climate of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Two identical pilot buildings whose envelopes are made of cEB and concrete blocks were monitored for this study. The thermal models of the pilot buildings were implemented in the SketchUp software using an extension of EnergyPlus. The models were empirically validated after calibration against measured thermal data from the buildings. The models were used to do a parametric analysis for optimization of the thermal performances by simulating plaster coatings on the exterior of walls, airtight openings and natural ventilation depending on external weather conditions. The results show that the cEB building displays 7016 hours of discomfort, equivalent to 80.1% of the time, and the concrete building displays 6948 hours of discomfort, equivalent to 79.3% of the time. The optimization by modifications reduced the discomfort to 2918 and 3125 hours respectively;i.e. equivalent to only 33.3% for the cEB building and 35.7% for the concrete building. More study should evaluate thermal optimizations in buildings in real time of usage such as residential buildings commonly used by the local middle class. The use of cEB as a construction material and passive means of improving thermal comfort is a suitable ecological and economical option to replace cementitious material.

A core-satellite self-assembled SERS aptasensor containing a“biological-silent region”Raman tag for the accurate and ultrasensitive detection of histamine

Herein,a novel interference-free surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS)strategy based on magnetic nanoparticles(MnPs)and aptamer-driven assemblies was proposed for the ultrasensitive detection of histamine.A core-satellite SERS aptasensor was constructed by combining aptamer-decorated Fe_(3)O_(4)@Au MnPs(as the recognize probe for histamine)and complementary DnA-modified silver nanoparticles carrying 4-mercaptobenzonitrile(4-MBn)(Ag@4-MBn@Ag-c-DnA)as the SERS signal probe for the indirect detection of *** an applied magnetic field in the absence of histamine,the assembly gave an intense Raman signal at“Raman biological-silent”region due to *** the presence of histamine,the Ag@4-MBn@Ag-c-DnA SERS-tag was released from the Fe_(3)O_(4)@Au MnPs,thus decreasing the SERS *** optimal conditions,an ultra-low limit of detection of 0.65×10^(-3)ng/mL and a linear range 10^(-2)-10^5 ng/mL on the SERS aptasensor were *** histamine content in four food samples were analyzed using the SERS aptasensor,with the results consistent with those determined by high performance liquid *** present work highlights the merits of indirect strategies for the ultrasensitive and highly selective SERS detection of small biological molecules in.c.mplex matrices.

A multi-shot target assembly and automatic alignment procedure for laser–plasma proton acceleration at high repetition rate are introduced. The assembly is based on a multi-target rotating wheel capable of hosting more than 5000 targets,mounted on a 3D motorized stage to allow rapid replenishment and alignment of the target material between laser irradiations. The automatic alignment procedure consists of a detailed mapping of the impact positions at the target surface prior to the irradiation that ensures stable operation of the target, which alongside the purpose-built design of the target wheel, enables operation at rates up to 10 Hz. Stable and continuous laser-driven proton acceleration at 10 Hz is demonstrated, with observed cut-off energy stability about 15%.

Shape of the geometrically active atomic states of carbon

We have developed a computer code for {／em ab initio} the variational configuration interaction.c.lculation of the electron.c.structure of atoms via variationally optimized Lagurre type orbitals, treating the orbital effective charges as variational parameters. Excited states of the same symmetry, in order to avoid the inherent restrictions of the standard method of Hylleraas--Unheim and MacDonald, are computed variationally by minimizing the recently developed minimization functionals for excited states. By computing, at the minimum, the one-electron density and the probability distribution of the two-electron angle, and the most probable two-electron angle, we investigate the atomic states of the carbon atom. We show that, without resorting to the （admittedly unproven） concept of hybridization, as an intrinsic property of the atomic wave function, the most probable value of the two-electron angle is around the known angles of carbon bonding, i.e. either 109^／circ or 120^／circ or 180^／circ, depending on each low-lying state of the bare carbon atom.
