Risk of control failure to insecticides malathion,profenophos+cypermethrin mixture,and fipronil in boll weevil(coleoptera:curculionidae)populations from Bahia,Brazil

Background To control the boll weevil Anthonomus grandis grandis(coleoptera:curculionidae),a key pest of cotton in the Americas,insecticides have been intensively used to manage their populations,increasing selection pressure for resistant ***,this study aimed to detect insecticide resistance and assess insecticide control failure likelihood of boll weevil populations exposed to malathion,profenophos+cypermethrin,and fipronil *** Twelve populations of the boll weevil were collected from commercial cotton fileds of the state of Bahia,northeastern *** populations were exposed to malathion,profenophos+cypermethrin mixture,and fipronil,at their respective maximum label dose for field *** replicates of 10 adult beetles were exposed to the insecticides and mortality was recorded after 24 h *** control failure likelihood was determined after 48 *** median lethal times(LT_(50))were observed for malathion and the profenophos+cypermethrin *** to at least one insecticide was detected in 11 populations;three populations were resistant to malathion and profenophos+cypermethrin;seven were resistant to all insecticides *** resistance levels were low(ns tested,58%of them exhibited significant risk of control failure for the insecticides malathion and profenophos+*** insecticide fipronil was efficient for the control of the boll weevil in 83%of the *** The results confirm the significant risk of insecticide control failure in the boll weevil populations to the main.c.mpounds used in the ***,proper insecticide resistance management plans are n.c.ssary for the boll weevil in the region,particularly for malathion and profenophos+cypermethrin insecticides.

Experimental and numerical analysis of multi-chamber oscillating water column devices

A review of multi-chamber oscillating water column(OWc)device designs is *** significant variations of these devices are discussed,onshore OWc(OOWc)and a floating OWc(FOWc).The efficiency results of several theoretical studies based on low-and high-fidelity numerical models are presented and compared with the model scale ***,low-fidelity numerical models are very fast to run,but their accuracy is limited compared with high-fidelity numerical *** model experiments usually give results much more accurate than numerical models,but they need adequate facilities and are very *** the case of the OOWc,all models show a similar trend of total efficiency,but while the analytical model shows a maximum value of around 90%efficiency,the cFD model shows 60%,and the experiments only go up to 40%.The main reason is conn.c.ed with the mathematical simplifications and assumptions that do not represent all the hydrodynamic and aerodynamic processes between the water,air,and *** the case of the FOWc,interestingly,the experimental results show a maximum efficiency of almost 100%,while the analytical model only predicts a maximum of 80%.The efficiency seems highly dependent on the heave motion resonance of the entire device,where the analytical model fails to predict this natural frequency.

Star-forming processes strongly influence the ISM ***,many high-quality databases are available at millimeter *** them,it is possible to carry out studies that review and deepen previous *** these studies involve large samples of sources,it is preferred to use direct tools to study the molecular *** the aim of testing these tools such as the use of the Hcn/Hnc ratio as a thermometer,and the use of H^(13)cO^(+),Hc_(3)n,n_(2)H^(+) and c_(2)H as "chemical clocks," we present a molecular line study toward 55 sources representing massive young stellar objects at different evolutionary stages:infrared dark clouds(IRDcs),highmass protostellar objects(HMPOs),hot molecular cores(HMcs) and ultracompact H II *** found that the use of the Hcn/Hnc ratio as a universal thermometer in the ISM should be taken with care because the Hcn optical depth is a big issue that can affect the ***,this tool should be utilized only after a careful analysis of the Hcn spectrum,checking that no line,neither the main nor the hyperfine ones,presents absorption *** point out that the analysis of the emission of H^(13)cO^(+),Hc_(3)n,n_(2)H^(+) and c_(2)H could be useful to trace and distinguish regions among IRDcs,HMPOs and *** molecular line widths of these four species increase from the IRDc to the HMc stage,which can be a consequence of the gas dynamics related to the starforming processes taking place in the molecular *** results not only contribute with more statistics,acting as a probe of such chemical tools,useful to obtain information in large samples of sources,but also complement previous works through the analysis of other types of sources.

Imprints of a gravitational wave through the weak field deflection of photons

In this study,we investigate the novel phenomenon of gravitational lensing experienced by gravitational waves traveling past a Schwarzschild black hole perturbed by a specific,first-order,polar gravitational *** apply the Gauss-Bonnet theorem,finding a topological contribution to the deflection of light rays passing near the black *** demonstrate that the deflection angle can be determined by analyzing a region entirely outside the path of the light ray,leading to a calculation based solely on the parameters of the perturbing wave(Legendre polynomial order,l;frequency,σ).This approach offers a unique perspective on gravitational lensing and expands our understanding of black hole interactions with gravitational waves.

Immune response to in.c.ivated bacterial vector carrying the recombinant K39 antigen of Leishmania infantum in mice

Objective:To evaluate the immunological response elicited by an in.c.ivated bacterial vector carrying the K39 antigen of Leishmania infantum,and a purified ***:Mice were subjected to the following treatments:(1)Purified recombinant K39(rK39)protein at a 20μg dose with complete Freund’s adjuvant;(2)In.c.ivated Escherichia coli(BL21 DE3)carrying the K39 protein at an equivalent total protein.c.ntent of 200μg;(3)In.c.ivated bacteria lacking the K39 protein;(4)non-immunized control *** monitoring was *** groups were challenged by intraperitoneal injection of 10^(7) Leishmania infantum *** euthanasia,the liver and spleen were collected to analyze the levels of TnF,IFn-γ,IL-12,IL-4,and ***:Mice immunized with purified rK39 or the in.c.ivated bacterial vector carrying the K39 antigen of Leishmania infantum showed a long-lasting immune response with high levels of polyclonal antibodies specifically recognizing the recombinant *** IgG1 subclass was the predominant immunoglobulin;however,the induction of IgG2a and the profile of cytokines produced were indicative of the induction of a mixed-type ***:The in.c.ivated bacterial vector carrying the K39 antigen,as well as the purified antigen.c.n induce a long-lasting immune response in immunized mice,predominantly favouring a Th2 profile response.

A three-dimensional mathematical hydrodynamic model associated with surface wave radiation by a floating rectangular box-type structure due to heave,sway,and roll motions in finite water depth is investigated based on small amplitude water wave theory and linear structural *** analytical expressions for the radiation potentials,wave forces,and hydrodynamic coefficients are presented based on matched eigenfunction expansion method(MEFEM).The correctness of the analytical results of wave forces is compared with the construction of a numerical model using the open-source boundary element method code *** addition,the present result is compared with the existing published experimental results available in the *** effects of the different design parameters on the floating box-type rectangular structure are studied by analyzing the vertical wave force,horizontal wave force,torque,added mass,and damping coefficients due to the heave,sway,and roll motions,and the comparison analysis between the forces is also analyzed in ***,the effect of reflection and transmission.c.efficients by varying the structural width and drafts are analyzed.

Mathematical modeling and simulations of stress mitigation by coating polycrystalline particles in lithium-ion batteries

A chemo-mechan.c.l model is developed to investigate the effects on the stress development of the coating of polycrystalline ni-rich LinixMn.c._(z)O_(2)(x≥0.8)(n.c.particles with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT).The simulation results show that the coating of primary n.c.particles significantly reduces the stress generation by efficiently accommodating the volume change associated with the lithium diffusion,and the coating layer plays roles both as a cushion against the volume change and a channel for the lithium transport,promoting the lithium distribution across the secondary particles more ***,the lower stiffness,higher ion.c.conductivity,and larger thickness of the coating layer improve the stress *** paper provides a mathematical framework for calculating the chemo-mechan.c.l responses of anisotropic electrode materials and fundamental insights into how the coating of n.c.active particles mitigates stress levels.

Empirical model for fusion.c.oss sections of ca-induced reactions

A new empirical formula for the astrophysical S-factor has been suggested as a function of the coulomb interaction parameter,center of mass energy,and barrier *** 22 fusion reactions with ^(40,48)ca as projectiles were considered for different targets,leading to compound n.c.ei with atomic and mass numbers varying between 40≤Z≤≤Z≤112 and 88≤A≤27888≤A≤278,*** fusion.c.oss-sections have been estimated using the geometric factor,the Gamow-Sommerfield factor,and the empirical formula for the *** study's findings showed better agreement with those of available experiments when.c.mpared to Wong's *** present work leads to a smaller standard deviation value than Wong's formula when used to correlate the experimental data of calcium-induced fusion ***'s formula provides a good approximation of fusion.c.oss-sections when the center of mass energy is below the fusion barrier when.c.mpared to above the fusion barrier.

Polio eradication surveillance in Sri Lanka,2019-2023

Objective:To evaluate the polio laboratory surveillance carried out from January,2019 to May,2023 by the Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri ***:This retrospective study analyzed all stool samples received under the acute flaccid paralysis(AFP)and immunodeficient vaccine-derived poliovirus(VDPV)surveillance at Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri Lanka from January,2019 to May,*** results of the testing methodologies were extracted from the laboratory data system,i.e.,poliovirus virus isolation,intra-typic differentiation/VDPV real time reverse tran.c.iptase polymerase chain reaction(ITD/VDPV rRTPcR)and sequencing,along with the data on timing of reporting results,stool adequacy and *** was analyzed using descriptive ***:A total of 2141 stool samples from 1644 cases were received for AFP surveillance from Sri Lanka(93.61%),Maldives(1.52%),and immunodeficient VDPV(4.86%)*** polioviruses(19/1644,1.15%)and non-polio enteroviruses(73/1644,4.44%)were isolated,while Sabin-like 3 virus was detected in majority(12/19,63.15%)among the poliovirus *** polioviruses or circulating VDPVs were not detected among the *** all years of the study,the non-polio AFP detection rate was>1/100000 in.c.ildren aged less than 15 years,whereas stool adequacy rate was>80%.All results were reported within 14 days of receipt,ensuring timely reporting as per global ***:The Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri Lanka plays a vital role in maintaining the polio-free status in the country through its robust laboratory surveillance,while adhering to the surveillance ***-detection of wild polioviruses and circulating VDPV during the study period reinforces the polio-free status in the country.
