The ability of triadimefon （TDM）, a triazolic fungicide, to alter the biochemical constituents and thereby minimizing the days required for sprouting in white yam （Dioscorea rotundata Poir.） tubers during storage under （30±2） ℃ in the dark, was studied. TDM at 20 mg/L was given to tubers by dipping the tubers in treatment solution containing 20 mg/L TDM on 10, 25 and 40 d after storage （DAS）. Starch, sugars, protein, amino acid contents as well as protease and a-amylase activities were estimated on 15, 30 and 45 DAS from two physiological regions viz., apical and basal regions of the tubers. In normal conditions （control） sprouting occurred on 70 to 80 DAS. The starch content decreased, while protein, amino acid, sugar contents and protease and a-amylase activities were increased due to TDM treatment and led to early sprouting.

This paper is a study on texture analysis of Computer Tomography (CT) liver images using orthogonal moment features. Orthogonal moments are used as image feature representation in many applications like invariant pattern recognition of images. Orthogonal moments are proposed here for the diagnosis of any abnormalities on the CT images. The objective of the proposed work is to carry out the comparative study of the performance of orthogonal moments like Zernike, Racah and Legendre moments for the detection of abnormal tissue on CT liver images. The Region of Interest (ROI) based segmentation and watershed segmentation are applied to the input image and the features are extracted with the orthogonal moments and analyses are made with the combination of orthogonal moment with segmentation that provides better accuracy while detecting the tumor. This computational model is tested with many inputs and the performance of the orthogonal moments with segmentation for the texture analysis of CT scan images is computed and compared.

In this study,5μmol·L^(-1)abscisic acid(ABA)and gibberellic acid(GA3)were used to study the effect of both growth regulators on the morphological parameters and pigment composition of Andrographis *** growth regulators were applied by means of foliar spray during morning *** treatment inhibited the growth of the stem and internodal length when compared with control,whereas GA3 treatment increased the plant height and internodal *** total number of leaves per plant decreased in the ABA-treated plants,but GA3 treatment increased the total number of leaves when compared with the *** growth regulators(ABA and GA3)showed increased leaf *** and GA3 treatments slightly decreased the total root growth at all the stages of *** growth regulator treatments increased the whole plant fresh and dry weight at all stages of *** enhanced the fresh and dry weight to a larger extent when compared with *** increase in the total chlorophyll content was recorded in ABA and GA3 *** chlorophyll-a,chlorophyll-b,and carotenoids were increased by ABA and GA3 treatments when compared with the control *** xanthophylls and anthocyanin content were increased with ABA and GA3 treatments in *** plants.

Changes in the sucrose metabolism of Cur-cuma longa *** were studied under treatment with different triazole compounds viz.,triadimefon(TDM)and propiconazole(PCZ).Plants were treated with TDM at 15mg/L and PCZ at 10mg/L separately by soil drenching on 80,110,and 140 days after planting(DAP).The plants were harvested randomly on 90,120,and 150DAP to determine the effect of both the triazoles on sucrose metabolizing enzymes and phenol *** sucrose metabolism was studied by analyzing sucrose metaboliz-ing enzymes like sucrose synthase and sucrose phosphate *** the analyses were assayed in leaves and tubers of both control and treated *** was found that both of the triazole compounds had profound effects on these parameters.

Atomic Absorption and Vibrational Spectral Magnetic Studies on the Removal of Cu(II) and Co(II) Ions Using Synthetic Nano Adsorbent Fe<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub>

Adsorption of Cu(II) and Co(II) from aqueous solutions on synthetic nano Fe3O4 has been studied. The effect of experimental parameters such as initial concentration of the metal ions, adsorbent dosage, contact time and pH has been investigated. Optimum removal efficiency of Cu(II) ion was found to be 97.8% with the dose rate of 1.07 g/L in 60 minutes at pH = 5.5 and for Co(II) ion, it was found to be 99.2% with the dose rate of2.57 g/L in 10 minutes at pH = 5.4. The removal of Co(II) ions require only 10 minutes with the efficient removal of 99.2%, whereas Cu(II) ions require 60 minutes with the maximum removal of 97.8%. In order to understand the effective removal of Cu(II) and Co(II) ions on Fe3O4, room temperature magnetic measurement was carried out using Vibrational Spectrum Magnetometer (VSM), before and after adsorption with a maximum applied magnetic field of 20,000 G.
