Investigation of the ecology of introduced species in new habitats can allow determinations of the degree, direction, and rate of evolutionary change. The introduction of Gambusia holbrooki in the southern Caspian Sea presents such a situation. We evaluated the life history traits of mosquitofish in the Tajan River basin. A total of 744 G. holbrooki specimens were collected between January and December 2008. The maximum observed ages are 0+ years for males and 1+ years for females. Both sexes grew allometrically (negative for males: b=2.442 and positive for females: b=3.232). The overall sex ratio is unbalanced and dominated by females. GSI values suggest that this population of G. holbrooki matures between February–July. The highest mean GSI value is 1.80 for males and 15.97 for females in May. Egg diameter ranges from 1.00 to 3.00 mm with a mean value of 2.098 mm. Absolute fecundity varied from 7 to 57 eggs. Both ova diameter and absolute fecundity were positively correlated to fish size (length and weight). Fecundity relative to total weight fluctuated from 34.44 to 582.64 eggs/g, and to total length from 2.33 to 12.95 eggs/cm. Both were negatively correlated with female size. The characteristics of this population are important with respect to life history of the species.

Fractal geometry quantitatively analyzes the irregular distribution of geological features,highlighting the dynamic aspects of tectonics,seismic heterogeneity,and geological *** study analyzed the active fault data along the Kuhbanan fault zone in southeastern Iran by applying the boxcounting method and observing the changes in Coulomb stress and tried to find the potential triggering *** entire region was divided into 16subzones with the box-counting method,and then the fractal dimension(D)in each zone was *** analysis of the fractal dimension for active faults and earthquake epicenters along with the seismicity parameter(b)and their ratio in the Kuhbanan region indicates an imbalance between seismic fractals and *** finding suggests that the area may have the potential for future earthquakes or hidden *** conjunction with b-value and changes in Coulomb stress change,D-value analysis reveals intense tectonic activity and stress accumulation,particularly within the Ravar,Zarand,and Kianshahr *** may be considered a potential location for future *** changes in Coulomb stress resulting from the 2005Dahuieh earthquake have also placed this region within the stress accumulation zone,potentially triggering the mentioned *** integrative approach,backed by historical earthquake data,highlights the impact of fault geometry and stress dynamics,offering an enhanced framework for earthquake forecasting and seismic risk mitigation applicable to other tectonically active areas within the Iranian plateau.

Separator modification is an effective approach to suppress dendrite growth to realize high-energy sodium metal batteries（SMBs） in practical applications,however,its success is mainly subject to surface ***,a separator with multifunctional layers composed of N-doped mesoporous hollow carbon spheres（HCS） as the inner layer and sodium fluoride（NaF） as the outer layer on commercial polypropylene separator（PP） is proposed（PP@HCS-NaF） to achieve stable cycling in *** the molecular level,the inner HCS layer with a high content of pyrrolic-N induces the uniform Na+flux as a potential Na+redistributor for homogenous deposition,whereas its hollow mesoporous structure offers nanoporous buffers and ion channels to regulate Na+ion distribution and uniform *** outer layer（NaF） constructs the NaF-enriched robust solid electrolyte interphase layer,significantly lowering the Na+ions diffusion *** from these merits,higher electrochemical performances are achieved with multifunctional double-layered PP@HCS-NaF separators compared with single-layered separators（***@HCS or PP@NaF） in *** Na‖Cu half-cell with PP@HCS-NaF offers stable cycling（280 cycles）with a high CE（99.6%）,and Na‖Na symmetric cells demonstrate extended lifespans for over 6000 h at 1 mA cm-2with a progressively stable overpotential of 9 ***,in Na‖NVP full-cells,the PP@HCS-NaF separator grants a stable capacity of ～81 mA h g-1after 3500 cycles at 1 C and an impressive rate capability performance(～70 mA h g-1at 15 C).

We use the Schr?dinger–Newton equation to calculate the regularized self-energy of a particle using a regular self-gravitational and electrostatic potential derived in string T-duality. The particle mass M is no longer concentrated into a point but is diluted and described by a quantum-corrected smeared energy density resulting in corrections to the energy of the particle, which is interpreted as a regularized self-energy. We extend our results and find corrections to the relativistic particles using the Klein–Gordon, Proca and Dirac equations. An important finding is that we extract a form of the generalized uncertainty principle(GUP) from the corrected *** form of the GUP is shown to depend on the nature of particles; namely, for bosons(spin 0 and spin 1) we obtain a quadratic form of the GUP, while for fermions(spin 1/2) we obtain a linear form. The correlation we find between spin and GUP may offer insights for investigating quantum gravity.

We consider matter–wave solitons in spin–orbit coupled Bose–Einstein condensates embedded in an optical lattice and study the dynamics of the soliton within the framework of Gross–Pitaevskii equations. We express spin components of the soliton pair in terms of nonlinear Bloch equations and investigate the effective spin dynamics. It is seen that the effective magnetic field that appears in the Bloch equation is affected by optical lattices, and thus the optical lattice influences the precessional frequency of the spin components. We make use of numerical approaches to investigate the dynamical behavior of density profiles and center-of-mass of the soliton pair in the presence of the optical lattice. It is shown that the spin density is periodically varying due to flipping of spinors between the two states. The amplitude of spin-flipping oscillation increases with lattice strength. We find that the system can also exhibit interesting nonlinear behavior for chosen values of parameters. We present a fixed point analysis to study the effects of optical lattices on the nonlinear dynamics of the spin components. It is seen that the optical lattice can act as a control parameter to change the dynamical behavior of the spin components from periodic to chaotic.

Climate change and rising temperatures are accelerating the rate of deglaciation in the Hindu Kush Karakoram Himalaya(HKH)ranges,leading to the formation of new glacial lakes and the expansion of existing *** lakes are often vulnerable to failure,posing a significant threat to downstream communities and ***,a comprehensive assessment of Glacier-Lake Outburst Flood(GLOF)hazards and risk assessment is crucial to evaluate flood runout characteristics and identify settlements and infrastructure that are exposed and vulnerable to floods,aiding in the development and implementation of risk reduction *** study aims to simulate a GLOF event induced by the Shisper glacier lake in northern Pakistan,using the HEC-RAS,and to assess its impact on settlements,infrastructure,and agricultural *** the hydrometeorological analysis of the GLOF event,topographic data from unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs),stream profiles,discharge data,Manning's roughness coefficient(n),and land use/land cover(LULC)were analyzed using HEC-RAS and geographic information system(GIS).During the GLOF event on May 7,2022,a maximum water depth of 6.3 m and a maximum velocity of 9.5 m/s were *** on the runout characteristics of this event,vulnerability and risk assessments have been *** physical,social,and environmental vulnerabilities of the at-risk elements were evaluated using the analytical hierarchy process(AHP)and integrated with the hazard data to develop a risk *** study identified the areas,infrastructure and settlements susceptible to GLOF hazard to support the development and implementation of targeted and evidence-based mitigation and adaptation strategies.
