Optimism, Social Support, and Caregiving Burden among the Long-Term Caregivers: The Mediating Effect of Psychological Resilience

Background As the elderly population grows, the demand for long-term care services is increasing. Despite significant investments in care quality and workforce training, long-term care workers often face challenges such as work fatigue, heavy workloads, and inadequate support. These issues can impact job satisfaction, mental health, and care quality, leading to staff turnover. This study examines how optimism, social support, and psychological resilience relate to caregiving burden, aiming to understand their effects on caregivers’ well-being and performance to enhance the quality of long-term care services. Methods The participants were 542 long-term care workers. Descriptive statistics, t -tests, one-way ANOVA, and hierarchical regression were used for data analysis. Results (1) Optimism and social support were significantly and positively correlated with psychological resilience and significantly and negatively associated with caregiving burden. (2) Regarding differences in optimism, social support, psychological resilience, and caregiving burden among long-term care workers, females scored significantly higher than males in “social support;” married workers scored significantly higher than unmarried workers in “optimism,” “social support,” and “psychological resilience”; workers aged 45–65 scored significantly higher than those aged 25–45 in “optimism”; workers aged 25–45 scored significantly higher than those aged 45–65 in “caregiving burden”; social workers scored significantly higher than nursing staff in “optimism.” (3) Psychological resilience partially mediated the relationship between social support and caregiving burden concerning explanatory and predictive power. Conclusions These findings suggest that optimism, social support, and psychological resilience are essential factors in reducing the caregiving burden among long-term care workers. We explored a new approach to search for a low-mass Z′particle through J/ψdecays by identifying its existence through parity-violating phenomena in the isospin-violating final states ofΛΣ¯^(0)and the corresponding charge conjugated states ofΛΣ¯^(0).Our investigation centered on a generation-independent and leptophobic Z′with mass below 10 *** the present experimental conditions at Beijing Spectrometer III(BESIII)and the anticipated opportunities at the Super Tau Charm Factory(STCF),we conducted Monte-Carlo simulations to predict possible events at both ***,we foresee a substantial enhancement in the precision of the lower limit estimation ofαNP as well as a reduction in statistical uncertainty with upcoming STCF ***,it is essential to highlight that a null result in the measurement ofαNP would impose stringent constraints,requiring the Z′−q−q couplings to be in the order of 10^(−2).

Application of ultrasonography-elastography score to suspect porto-sinusoidal vascular disease in patients with portal vein thrombosis

Background:Porto-sinusoidal vascular disease(PSVD)and portal vein thrombosis(PVT)are causes of portal hypertension characterized respectively by an intrahepatic and a pre-hepatic obstacle to the flow in the portal *** PVT may be a consequence of PSVD,in PVT patients at presentation,a pre-existing PSVD should be *** these patients the identification of an underlying PSVD would have relevant implication regarding follow-up and therapeutic management,but it could be *** this setting ultrasonography may be valuable in differential *** aim of the study was to use ultrasonography to identify parameters to discriminate between PSVD and“pure”PVT and then to suspect PVT secondary to a pre-existing ***:Fifty-three patients with histologically proven PSVD and forty-eight patients affected by chronic PVT were enrolled and submitted to abdominal ultrasonography with elastography by acoustic radiation force impulse(ARFI).Results:ARFI was higher and superior mesenteric vein(SMV)diameter was wider in PSVD patients than in PVT ***,a prognostic score was obtained as linear combinations of the two parameters with a good discrimination capacity between PSVD and PVT(the area under the curve=0.780;95%confidence interval:0.690-0.869).Conclusions:A score based on ARFI and SMV diameter may be useful to suspect an underlying PSVD in patients with PVT and to identify a subgroup of patients to be submitted to liver biopsy.

We compare Newton’s force law of universal gravitation with a corrected simple approach based on Bhandari’s recently presented work, where the gravitation constant G is maintained. A reciprocity relation exists between both alternative gravity formulas with respect to the distances between mass centers. We conclude a one-to-one mapping of the two gravitational formulas. We don’t need Einstein’s construct of spacetime bending by matter.
