Cartilage injuries are common problems that increase with the population *** is an avascular tissue with a relatively low level of cellular mitotic activity,which makes it impossible to heal *** compensate for this problem,three-dimensional bio-printing has attracted a great deal of attention in cartilage tissue *** emerging technology aims to create three-dimensional functional scaffolds by accurately depositing layer-by-layer bio-inks composed of biomaterial and *** a novel bio-ink,a decellularized extracellular matrix can serve as an appropriate substrate that contains all the necessary biological cues for cellular ***,this review is intended to provide an overview of decellularized extracellular matrix-based bio-inks and their properties,sources,and preparation *** this,decellularized extracellular matrix-based bio-inks for cartilage tissue engineering are discussed,emphasizing cell behavior and in-vivo ***,the current challenges and future outlook will be discussed to determine the conclusing remarks.

Clinical correlations between chronic hepatitis C infection and decreasing bone mass density after treatment with interferon-alpha

Objective: To compare the bone mass density in chronic hepatitis patients before and after interferon-a ***: A total of 70 patients with chronic hepatitis C were treated with interferon-a and were evaluated. The treatment dosage was three million IU three times a week for one year. All the patients underwent bone mass density detection at lumbar spine and femoral neck before and after the interferon-a treatment. All the necessary information such as age,sex, and laboratory test, history of occurrence of fractures, lifestyle, and menopause status was collected by interviewers face-to-face from participants at the research visit. Smoking was categorized by whether participants were nonsmokers or smokers. Menopause was designated if there had been complete cessation of menses for more than 12 months. All statistical analyses were performed by SPSS version 14(SPSS, Inc., Chicago, IL, USA).Results: Among 70 patients, 52% were male, 48% were female and the mean age was(57.0 ± 9.6) years(range: 24–79). Twenty-nine percent of the patients had a history of smoking. The mean body mass index was(24.4 ± 3.6) kg/m^2(range: 18.4–35.3). Of the70 cases, 21 had high fibrosis-4. The prevalence of overall fracture history was 2.9%(two patients).Conclusions: Chronic hepatitis C virus infection did increase the risk of development of metabolic bone disease in this cohort. Indeed, greater reduction of bone mass density occurs in advanced liver fibrosis. The bone loss in earlier stages of chronic hepatitis C infection is likely to result from increased bone reduction rather than decreased bone formation. Overall, these observations suggest an important role for chronic hepatitis C virus infection in increased bone turnover in osteodystrophy pathogenesis.

Inhibitory effect of gold nanoparticles conjugated with interferon gamma and methionine on breast cancer cell line

Objective: To develop a gold nanoparticles complex conjugated with interferon-gamma(IFN-g) and methionine along with application of hyperthermia using near-infrared laser beams for the treatment of cancer ***: Gold nanorods(10 nm) were conjugated with IFN-g and methionine using carbodiimide family and characterized after purification by dialysis bags. Breast cancer cells were cultured and incubated with gold nanorods at different concentrations followed by irradiation with near-infrared laser beam. Samples were then evaluated for their viability in order to determine the effect of treatment and variables by MTT ***: Zetasizer results confirmed the conjugation of gold nanorods with methionine and IFN-g. The median percentage of cell viability in 0.30 mg/m L concentration of gold nanorods was 82%. The cell viability reached to 85% at the same concentration of gold nanorods, which existed in the assayed complex. The results of MTT assay showed that the 0.60 mg/m L concentration of gold nanoparticles complex was toxic on tumor cells(P < 0.05). After exposure to hyperthermia, the viability of cells at 6 min decreased to77% in 0.30 mg/m L concentration of gold nanorods ***: The size and concentration of gold nanorods was not cytotoxic. However,their presence during irradiation near-infrared laser increased the number of dead cells during the treatment of cells.

Zr（IV）-salen-MCM-41 was prepared by reaction of NH2-MCM-41 with salicylaldehyde to afford Schiff base ligands. Thereafter, ***2O was reacted with the Schiff base ligands for complex formation. The structural properties of the synthesized materials were investigated by a number of analytical techniques including X-ray diffraction, N2 sorption-desorption, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscpopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Catalytic studies of the mesoporous materials functionalized with Zr（IV）-Schiff base complexes were investigated and extended to selective oxida- tion of sulfides to sulfoxides and the Knoevenagel condensation reactions of aldehydes with malo- nonitriles and ethyl cyanoacetate. Additionally, catalyst recycling of the Zr-salen-MCM-41 materials was also studied.

Due to growing demand and reduction of water resources and increasing pollution of water,driven by dramatic population and economic growth, arid and semi-arid land's imminent water problems are nowadays aggravating. This study aims to determine the most appropriate management strategies for balancing the Abhar plain aquifer using the SWOT coupled with AHP technique. The results indicate that weaknesses prevail over strengths as well as threats over opportunities. The placement in the quarter of weaknesses-threats with a defensive strategy indicates the critical condition of the Abhar plain aquifer. The most appropriate solutions to achieve the goal of balancing the groundwater were prioritized by AHP method. According to results, improper management of water consumption with a weight of 72.5% is the most destructive factor in reducing groundwater resources. Among the types of consumption, the effect of an agricultural factor carries a weight of 74.2%. The exploitation of illegal wells, overdraft of exploitation license provisions of wells, reduction of precipitation and traditional irrigation methods were selected as the destructive factors causing the deteriration of groundwater resources. Also, with filling the illegal wells,changing the type of cultivation and greenhouse crops cultivation, installing a smart water meter,observance the provisions of the water exploitation license, implementing integrated pressurized irrigation systems, benefiting from suitable climatic conditions and geographical location for cultivating and developing the low-water use species and industries and on the other hand, with implementing artificial recharge to control the surface water resources and reduce abstraction from groundwater aquifers, the adverse trend of Abhar Plain groundwater resources can be controlled.

Background:The dorsomedial periaqueductal gray(dmPAG)is a mesencephalic area and has numerous functions including cardiovascular *** nitric oxide(NO)is present in the dmPAG,here we investigate,the probable cardiovascular effect of NO in the ***:Five groups(n=6 for each group)were used as follows:(1)control;(2)L-NAME(N^(G)-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester,a NO synthase inhibitor,90 nmol);(3)Larginine(L-Arg,a precursor for NO,60 nmol);(4)Sodium nitroprusside(SNP,a NO donor,27 nmol);and(5)L-Arg+*** cardiovascular parameters were recorded by a Power Lab device after cannulation of the femoral *** were injected using a stereotaxic *** changes(Δ)in systolic blood pressure(SBP),mean arterial pressure(MAP),and heart rate(HR)were calculated at different times and compared to the control ***:Microinjection of L-NAME significantly increased ΔSBP,ΔMAP,and ΔHR more than saline(from p<0.05 to p<0.001).L-Arg only significantly increased ΔHR(p<0.05).In the L-Arg+L-NAME group,the above parameters also significantly increased(from p<0.01 to p<0.05)but not as significantly as with L-NAME *** of SNP significantly decreased ΔSBP and ΔMAP more than in the control and L-NAME groups(from p<0.01 to p<0.001),but ΔHR did not change ***:The results indicated that NO in dmPAG has an inhibitory effect on cardiovascular responses in anesthetized rats.

Inflammation of the nervous system(neuroinflammation)is now recognized as a hallmark of virtually all neurological *** neuroinflammatory conditions such as multiple sclerosis,there is prominent infiltration and a long-lasting representation of various leukocyte subsets in the central nervous system(CNS)*** in classic neurodegenerative disorders,where such immense inflammatory infiltrates are absent,there is still evidence of activated CNS-intrinsic *** consequences of excessive and uncontrolled neuroinflammation are injury and death to neural elements,which manifest as a heterogeneous set of neurological ***,it is now readily acknowledged,due to instructive studies from the peripheral nervous system and a large body of CNS literature,that aspects of the neuroinflammatory response can be beneficial for CNS *** recognized benefits of inflammation to the CNS include the preservation of CNS constituents(neuroprotection),the proliferation and maturation of various neural precursor populations,axonal regeneration,and the reformation of myelin on denuded ***,we highlight the benefits of neuroinflammation in fostering CNS recovery after neural injury using examples from multiple sclerosis,traumatic spinal cord injury,stroke,and Alzheimer’s *** focus on CNS regenerative responses,such as neurogenesis,axonal regeneration,and remyelination,and discuss the mechanisms by which neuroinflammation is pro-regenerative for the ***,we highlight treatment strategies that harness the benefits of neuroinflammation for CNS regenerative responses.

A convenient and selective catalytic method for the sulfoxidation of aliphatic and aromatic sulfides by treatment of NH4NO3, silica sulfuric acid, wet SiO2 (50% w/w) and a catalytic amount of KBr in CH2Cl2 at room temperature was developed. Many sulfides can be selec-tively oxidized at room temperature in good to excellent yields. The reaction proceeds without over-oxidation to sulfones under mild conditions.
