minimum effective local anesthetic dose of intrathecal hyperbaric ropivacaine and bupivacaine for cesarean section

Background Intrathecal anesthesia is commonly used for cesarean section. Bupivacaine and ropivacaine have all been used as intrathecal drugs. The minimum effective local anesthetic dose （MLAD） of intrathecal ropivacaine for nonobstetric patients has been reported. However, few data are available on the MLAD of hyperbaric ropivacine for obstetric patients and the relative potency to bupivacaine has not been fully determined. In this study, we sought to determine the MLAD of intrathecal ropivacaine and bupivacaine for elective cesarean section and to define their relative potency *** We enrolled forty parturients undergoing elective cesarean section under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia and randomized them to one of two groups to receive intrathecal 0.5% hyperbaric ropivacaine or *** initial dose was 10 mg, and was increased in increments of 1 mg, using the technique of up-down sequential allocation. Efficacy was accepted if adequate sensory dermatomal anesthesia to pin prick to T7 or higher was attained within 20 minutes after intrathecal injection, and required no supplementary epidural injection for procedure until at least 50 minutes after the intrathecal *** The intrathecal MLAD was 9.45 mg （95%confidence interval （CI）, 8.45-10.56 mg） for ropivacaine and 7.53 mg （95%CI, 7.00-8.10 mg） for bupivacaine. The relative potency ratio was 0.80 （95% Cl, 0.74-0.85） for ropivacaine/bupivacaine when given intrathecally in cesarean *** Ropivacaine is 20% less potent than bupivacaine during intrathecal anesthesia for cesarean delivery.

An Approach for Human Posture Recognition Based on the Fusion PSE-CNN-BiGRU Model

This study proposes a pose estimation-convolutional neural network-bidirectional gated recurrent unit(PSECNN-BiGRU)fusion model for human posture recognition to address low accuracy issues in abnormal posture recognition due to the loss of some feature information and the deterioration of comprehensive performance in model detection in complex home ***,the deep convolutional network is integrated with the Mediapipe framework to extract high-precision,multi-dimensional information from the key points of the human skeleton,thereby obtaining a human posture feature ***,a double-layer BiGRU algorithm is utilized to extract multi-layer,bidirectional temporal features from the human posture feature set,and a CNN network with an exponential linear unit(ELU)activation function is adopted to perform deep convolution of the feature map to extract the spatial feature of the human ***,a squeeze and excitation networks(SENet)module is introduced to adaptively learn the importance weights of each channel,enhancing the network’s focus on important ***,comparative experiments are performed on available datasets,including the public human activity recognition using smartphone dataset(UCIHAR),the public human activity recognition 70 plus dataset(HAR70PLUS),and the independently developed home abnormal behavior recognition dataset(HABRD)created by the authors’*** results show that the average accuracy of the proposed PSE-CNN-BiGRU fusion model for human posture recognition is 99.56%,89.42%,and 98.90%,respectively,which are 5.24%,5.83%,and 3.19%higher than the average accuracy of the five models proposed in the comparative literature,including CNN,GRU,and *** F1-score for abnormal posture recognition reaches 98.84%(heartache),97.18%(fall),99.6%(bellyache),and 98.27%(climbing)on the self-builtHABRDdataset,thus verifying the effectiveness,generalization,and robustness of the proposed model in enhancing human posture rec

Two polyoxovanadoborates with over 100 nuclei assembled from a {V_(14)Co_(12)B_(72)} cluster

Combining theoretical prediction and experimental exploration, the first sandwich-type polyoxovanadoborate(POVB) with an odd number of nuclei, [V_(11)B_(26)O_(73)(OH)_(10)]^(8-)(1), was discovered under hydrothermal conditions. Density-functional theory(DFT)gives a rationalization for the existence of this structure and the structural feature is consistent with the {V_NB_(2N+X)}(X = 2, 4, 6, 8)general formula. Excitingly, when Co and 1,10-phenanthroline(phen) are introduced into the synthesis of vanadoborates system,a 100-nuclei [Co_6(phen)_(10)(H_(2)O)_8][V_(14)Co_(12)B_(72)O_(144)(OH)_(20)]·28H_(2)O(2) and a 102-nuclei [Co_6(phen)_(14)(H_(2)O)_(4)][V_(14)Co_(12)B_(72)O_(144)(OH)_(20)]·23H_(2)O(3) with the same core structure of [V_(14)Co_(12)B_(72)]^(12-)are obtained. The vase-shaped [V_(14)Co_(12)B_(72)] polyanion is a multilayered sandwich-type structure containing seven distinct structural layers and is the largest known POVB. Furthermore, 2demonstrates exceptional thermal and chemical stability and serves as an efficient and stable catalyst for the photoreduction of carbon dioxide.

Impaired brain glucose metabolism is an early indicator of Alzheimer’s disease(AD);however,the fundamental mechanism is *** this study,we found a substantial decline in isocitrate dehydrogenase 3β(IDH3β)levels,a critical tricarboxylic acid cycle enzyme,in AD patients and AD-transgenic mice’s *** investigations demonstrated that the knockdown of IDH3βinduced oxidation-phosphorylation uncoupling,leading to reduced energy metabolism and lactate *** resulting increased lactate,a source of lactyl,was found to promote histone lactylation,thereby enhancing the expression of paired-box gene 6(PAX6).As an inhibitory transcription factor of IDH3β,the elevated PAX6 in turn inhibited the expression of IDH3β,leading to tau hyperphosphorylation,synapse impairment,and learning and memory deficits resembling those seen in *** AD-transgenic mice,upregulating IDH3βand downregulating PAX6 were found to improve cognitive functioning and reverse AD-like ***,our data suggest that impaired oxidative phosphorylation accelerates AD progression via a positive feedback inhibition loop of IDH3β-lactate-PAX6-IDH3β.Breaking this loop by upregulating IDH3βor downregulating PAX6 attenuates AD neurodegeneration and cognitive impairments.

Floating plants reduced methane fluxes from wetlands by creating a habitat conducive to methane oxidation

Wetlands are one of the important natural sources of atmospheric methane (CH_4),as an important part of wetlands,floating plants can be expected to affect methane ***,the effects of floating plants on methane release are *** this study,methane fluxes,physiochemical properties of the overlying water,methane oxidation potential and rhizospheric bacterial community were investigated in simulated wetlands with floating plants Eichhornia crassipes,Hydrocharis dubia,and Trapa *** found that ***,***,and *** plants could inhibit 84.31%-97.31%,4.98%-88.91%and 43.62%-92.51%of methane fluxes at interface of water-atmosphere compared to Control,*** fluxes were negatively related to nutrients concentration in water column but positively related to the aerenchyma proportions of roots,stems,and *** the same biomass,root of *** (36.44%) had the highest methane oxidation potential,followed by *** (12.99%) and *** (11.23%).Forty-five bacterial phyla in total were identified on roots of three plants and 7 bacterial genera (2.10%-3.33%) were known *** I methanotrophs accounted for 95.07%of total *** pmoA gene abundances ranged from 1.90×10^(16)to 2.30×10^(18)copies/g fresh weight of root *** of pmoA gene was significantly positively correlated with environmental *** (5.40%) and methanotrophy (3.75%) function were closely related to methane *** study highlights that floating plant restoration can purify water and promote carbon neutrality partially by reducing methane fluxes through methane oxidation in wetlands.

Berberine alleviates ovarian tissue damage in mice with hepatolenticular degeneration by suppressing ferroptosis and endoplasmic reticulum stress

Objective:Hepatolenticular degeneration (HLD) is an autosomal recessive disorder that manifests as multiorgan damage due to impaired copper (Cu) metabolism. Female patients with HLD often experience reproductive impairments. This study investigated the protective effect of berberine against ovarian damage in toxic-milk (TX) mice, a murine model for ***:Mice were categorized into control group, HLD TX group (HLD group), penicillamine (Cu chelator)-treated TX group and berberine-treated TX group. Body weight, ovary weight and the number of ovulated eggs were recorded. Follicular morphology and cellular ultrastructure were examined. Total iron, ferrous iron (Fe2+) and trivalent iron (Fe3+) levels, as well as malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione(GSH) and oxidized glutathione (GSSG), were measured in the ovaries. Western blot analysis was used to analyze the expression of proteins related to ferroptosis and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) ***:Ovarian tissue damage was evident in the HLD group, with a significant increase in ferroptosis and ER stress compared to the control group. This damage was inhibited by treatment with penicillamine,a Cu chelator. Compared with the HLD group, berberine increased the number of ovulations, and improved ovarian morphology and ultrastructure. Further, we found that berberine reduced total iron,Fe2+, MDA and GSSG levels, elevated GSH levels, decreased the expression of the ferroptosis marker protein prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2), and increased glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4)expression. Furthermore, berberine inhibited the expression of ER stress-associated proteins mediated by the protein kinase RNA-like ER kinase (PERK) ***:Ferroptosis and ER stress are involved in Cu-induced ovarian damage in TX mice. Berberine ameliorates ovarian damage in HLD TX mice by inhibiting ferroptosis and ER stress.

Standing-wave supermode microresonators that are created through the strong coupling between counter-propagating modes have emerged as versatile platforms for sensing and nonlinear *** example,these microresonators have shown potential in nanoparticle sizing and counting,as well as enhancing the single-photon optomechanical coupling rate of stimulated Brillouin ***,it has been observed that the relation between the mode linewidth and on-resonance transmission of the split supermodes differs obviously from that of the non-split *** behavior is typically quantified by the coupling ideality(I),which remains inadequately explored for the standing-wave *** this study,we theoretically and experimentally investigate the coupling ideality of standing-wave supermodes in a commonly employed configuration involving a Si O2microresonator side-coupled to a tapered *** findings demonstrate that,even with a single-mode tapered fiber,the coupling ideality of the standing-wave supermodes is limited to 0.5,due to the strong backscattering-induced energy loss into the counter-propagating direction,resulting in an additional equivalent parasitic *** achieving a coupling ideality of 0.5 presents challenges for reaching over-coupled regimes,it offers a convenient approach for adjusting the total linewidth of the modes while maintaining critically-coupled conditions.

Fibroblast growth factor 1(FGF1) regulates vertebrate cell growth, proliferation and differentiation, and energy metabolism. In this study, we cloned rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss) fgf1 and fgf1a, prepared their recombinant proteins(rFGF1 and rFGF1a), and described the molecular mechanisms by which they improve glycolipid metabolism in carnivorous fish. A 31-d feeding trial was conducted to investigate whether they could enhance glycolipid metabolism in rainbow trout on high-carbohydrate diets(HCD). A total of 720 rainbow trout(8.9 ± 0.5 g) were equally divided into 4 groups: the chow diet(CD) group injected with PBS, the HCD group injected with PBS, the HCD group injected with rFGF1(400 ng/g body weight), and the HCD group injected with rFGF1a(400 ng/g body weight). The results showed that short-term HCD had a significant positive effect on the specific growth rate(SGR) of rainbow trout(P minase(GPT) and glutamic oxalacetic transaminase(GOT) contents(P < 0.05), suggesting a negative health effect of HCD. Nevertheless, rFGF1 and rFGF1a showed beneficial therapeutic effects. They significantly reduced the crude fat content of the liver, serum TG, GOT, and GPT contents caused by HCD(P < 0.05). The upregulation in atgl, hsl, and acc2 m RNAs implied the promotion of TG catabolism. Moreover, rFGF1 and rFGF1a contributed to promoting lipolysis by activating the AMPK pathway and reducing lipid accumulation in the liver caused by HCD. In addition,the rFGF1 and r FGF1a-treated groups significantly reduced serum glucose levels and elevated hepatic glycogen content under HCD, and increased glucose uptake by hepatocytes. We observed a decrease in mRNA levels for pepck, g6pase, and pygl, along with an increase in mRNA levels for gys, glut2, and gk in the liver.
