Durable superamphiphobic silica aerogel surfaces for the culture of 3D cellular spheroids

The 3D multicellular spheroids with intact cell–cell junctions have major roles in biological research by virtue of their unique advantage of mimicking the cellular physiological environments. In this work, a durable superamphiphobic silica aerogel surface(SSAS) has been fabricated for the upward culture of 3D multicellular spheroids. Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT) was first electrodeposited on a conductive steel mesh as a first template for porous silica coating. Soot particles were then applied as a second template to construct a cauliflower-like silica aerogel nanostructure. After fluorination, a hierarchical structure with re-entrant curvature was finally fabricated as a durable superamphiphobic surface. This superamphiphobic surface also presented excellent antifouling towards biomacromolecules and cells, which has been demonstrated by the successful upward culture of cell spheroids. The upward culture makes the observation of cellular behavior in situ possible, holding great potential for 3D cellular evaluation in vitro.

降水变化既影响地上植被动态,也影响地下碳循环过程,尤其以干旱半干旱生态系统对降水的响应更为敏感。然而极端降水如何影响土壤碳固存潜力仍未得出明确结果。本研究在黄土高原西部荒漠草原样地实施了为期3年的降水控制实验,该实验包含5个降水梯度(即自然降水(对照),以及在自然降水基础上的减水40%、减水20%、增水20%、增水40%)。通过对不同降水处理下植物生长指标、地上净初级生产力(ANPP)、土壤水分和土壤呼吸(Rs)进行监测,采用双侧不对称模型揭示ANPP和Rs对降水变化的响应规律;采用结构方程模型,分析降水变化下影响ANPP和Rs的直接和间接因素。研究结果表明,ANPP对极端干旱的响应比极端湿润更敏感,在干旱和湿润年份均符合负向不对称模型。ANPP的变化主要受到降水的直接影响,同时,干旱年份植物密度的变化也对ANPP产生了影响。在湿润年份,Rs对降水变化的响应也呈负向不对称性。然而,干旱年份,Rs对降水变化表现出正向不对称响应,即对降水增加响应的敏感性高于降水减少,这可能与植物生长和ANPP对增水处理的正响应增加使自氧呼吸增强,及降水事件对异氧呼吸具有较强的‘Birch效应’有关。在干旱年份Rs对极端干旱(减水40%处理)表现出饱和响应。ANPP和Rs对降水格局改变的响应模式差异表明荒漠草原区极端湿润或干旱可能降低研究区土壤碳固存的潜力。

The dearomative[5+1]annulation of 2-methylindoles with new five-membered synthons O-alkyl orthooxybenzaldehydes was developed unprecedentedly through cascade[1,5]-hydride transfer/dearomativecyclization in HFIP for the synthesis of spirochromanes bearing the 2-methylindolenine skeleton.Inaddition,the dual alkylation of the methyl group of 2-methylindolenines was achieved by sequential operation through the redox neutral[5+1]annulation with the second five-membered synthon N-alkylortho-aminobenzaldehyde,providing the chromane and tetrahydroquinoline fused spiroindolenines ingood yields.Furthermore,the auxiliary group that facilitates the hydride transfer process could be simplyremoved.

The Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) is an intrinsic ocean-atmosphere coupled mode in the tropical Indian Ocean (IO)[1,2]. It features a sea surface temperature (SST) anomaly gradient, defined by the dipole mode index (DMI), the difference of area-averaged SST anomaly between the western tropical IO (50°–70°E, 10°N–10°S)and the southeastern tropical IO (90°–110°E, Eq.-10°S). The IOD event tends to develop and mature in the boreal summer and fall seasons. When a positive IOD (p IOD) occurs, SST warms up in the west and cools down in the east, which sets up an east-west pressure gradient. The atmosphere hence responds to the

The El Nino-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)has great impacts on the Indian Ocean sea surface temperature(SST).In fact,two major modes of the Indian Ocean SST namely the Indian Ocean Basin(IOB)and the Indian Ocean Dipole(IOD)modes,exerting strong influences on the Indian Ocean rim countries,are both influenced by the ENSO.Based on a combined linear regression method,this study quantifies the ENSO impacts on the IOB and the IOD during ENSO concurrent,developing,and decaying stages.After removing the ENSO impacts,the spring peak of the IOB disappears along with significant decrease in number of events,while the number of events is only slightly reduced and the autumn peak remains for the IOD.By isolating the ENSO impacts during each stage,this study reveals that the leading impacts of ENSO contribute to the IOD development,while the delayed impacts facilitate the IOD phase switch and prompt the IOB development.Besides,the decadal variations of ENSO impacts are various during each stage and over different regions.These imply that merely removing the concurrent ENSO impacts would not be sufficient to investigate intrinsic climate variability of the Indian Ocean,and the present method may be useful to study climate variabilities independent of ENSO.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the therapeutic effect of the herbal medication Xiao Pi-II on the symptoms and gastric motility of patients with functional dysepsia (FD). METHODS: A total of 180 FD patients were divided randomly and equally into Xiao Pi-II and mosapride groups. The two groups were treated with Xiao Pi-II (100 mL, t.d.s., ante cibum) and mosapride (5 mg, t. d.s., ante cibum) for 2 weeks. Before treatment and 3 days after all medication was stopped, patients responded to a questionnaire evaluating gastrointestinal symptoms and were assessed with abdominal three dimensional ultrasonography (3D-US) for gastric motility. RESULTS: Gastrointestinal symptoms (especially bloating, post-prandial fullness and eructation) were improved significantly in FD patients treated with Xiao Pi-II (P0.05). The effective rates in the Xiao Pi-II and mosapride group were 86.7% and 60.0%, respectively (P0.05) of GLER in the mosapride group. CONCLUSION: Compared with mosapride, Xiao Pi-II improved symptoms and GLER significantly in FD patients with delayed gastric emptying.

Using a Hidden Markov Model to Analyze the Flood-Season Rainfall Pattern and Its Temporal Variation over East China

The homogeneous hidden Markov model(HMM), a statistical pattern recognition method, is introduced in this paper. Based on the HMM, a 53-yr record of daily precipitation during the flood season(April-September) at 389 stations in East China during 1961-2013 is classified into six patterns: the South China(SC) pattern, the southern Yangtze River(SY) pattern, the Yangtze-Huai River(YH) pattern, the North China(NC) pattern, the overall wetter(OW) pattern, and the overall drier(OD) pattern. Features of the transition probability matrix of the first four patterns reveal that 1) the NC pattern is the most persistent, followed by the YH, and the SY is the least one; and 2) there exists a SY-SC-SY-YH-NC propagation process for the rain belt over East China during the flood season. The intraseasonal variability in the occurrence frequency of each pattern determines its start and end time. Furthermore,analysis of interdecadal variability in the occurrence frequency of each pattern in recent six decades has identified three obvious interdecadal variations for the SC, YH, and NC patterns in the mid-late 1970 s, the early 1990 s, and the late 1990 s. After 2000, the patterns concentrated in the southern region play a dominant role, and thus there maintains a "flooding in the south and drought in the north" rainfall distribution in eastern China. In summary, the HMM provides a unique approach for us to obtain both spatial distribution and temporal variation features of flood-season rainfall.

目的观察井穴和耳尖放血对新型冠状病毒感染(新冠病毒感染)发热患者的退热疗效及炎症因子水平变化的影响.方法采用回顾性研究方法.选择2023年1月1日至10日于南京中医药大学附属医院就诊的新冠病毒感染发热患者521例作为研究对象.按患者是否接受中医井穴和耳尖放血治疗分为对照组(给予常规治疗)和试验组(在对照组的基础上进行井穴和耳尖放血治疗).收集治疗前和治疗后30 min、4 h、24h体温、即刻(30 min内)退热效率、体温恢复正常时间,以及治疗前、治疗后48h炎症因子水平,比较两组上述指标的差异;以4h退热≥1℃为起效标准,比较两组平均退热起效时间和治疗2.5、3、4 h退热率的差异;绘制Kaplan-Meier曲线分析匹配前后两组4h退热率的变化.结果最终纳入试验组169例,对照组352例,因为本研究为回顾性研究,基线比较发现两组病程、基础疾病(慢性支气管炎、糖尿病、肾功能不全、肝胆疾病)等方面比较差异均有统计学意义(均P<0.05).为减少差异,将上述4因素纳入预测变量进行1∶1倾向性匹配,匹配出166对病例样本,具有可比性.结果显示,随时间延长两组体温均逐渐降低,且试验组各时间点体温均明显低于对照组(℃:治疗30 min为38.32±0.22比38.43±0.24,治疗4h为37.67±0.32比38.13±0.51,治疗24h为37.03±0.38比37.14±0.51,均P<0.05),即刻退热效率明显高于对时组[63.86%(106/166)比44.58%(74/166),P<0.05],体温恢复正常时间较对照组明显缩短(h:19.25±7.79比38.90±17.17,P<0.05);4 h退热起效动态时间方面,试验组平均退热起效时间较对照组明显缩短[h:4.39(4.11,4.68)比7.16(6.71,7.61),P<0.05],2.5、3、4 h退热率均明显高于对照组[分别为6.63%(11/166)比0.60%(1/166)、24.10%(40/166)比4.82%(8/166)、74.10%(123/166)比38.55%(64/166),均P<0.05].Kaplan-Meier曲线分析显示,两组匹配前后4h退热起效率比较差异均有统计学意义(均P<0.05).感染炎症因子方面,两组治疗后超敏C-反应蛋白(hs-CRP)、肿瘤坏死因子-α(TNF-α)、白细胞介素-6(IL-6)均较治疗前明显降低[hs-CRP(mg/L):对照组为32.03±15.38比79.78±13.34,试验组为33.21±16.07比80.03±14.66;TNF-α(μg/L):对照组为2.91±0.88比5.09±0.95,试验组为2.83±0.98比5.10±0.87;IL-6(ng/L):对照组为96.30±48.12比206.48±56.70,试验组为94.01±45.13比202.38±55.38,均P<0.05],但治疗后两组上述指标水平比较差异均无统计学意义.结论采用井穴和耳尖放血治疗新冠病毒感染发热具有良好的退热作用,可缩短退热时间,提高退热效率,降低炎症因子水平.
