AIM:To analyze whether alterations of voxel mirror homology connectivity(VMHC)values,as determined by resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(rsfMRI),occur in cerebral regions of patients with hypertensive retinopathy(HR)and to determine the relationship between VMHC values and clinical characteristics in patients with ***:Twenty-one patients with HR and 21 agematched healthy controls(HCs)were assessed by rsfMRI *** functional connectivity between the hemispheres of the cerebrum was assessed by measuring VMHC,with the ability of VMHC to distinguish between the HR and HC groups assessed using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve *** in the demographic and clinical characteristics of the HR and HC groups were analyzed by independent sample *** relationship between average VMHC in several brain areas of HR patients and clinical features was determined using Pearson correlation ***:Mean VMHC values of the bilateral cuneus gyrus(BA19),bilateral middle orbitofrontal gyrus(BA47),bilateral middle temporal gyrus(BA39)and bilateral superior medial frontal gyrus(BA9)were lower in the HR than in the HC ***:VMHC values can predict the development of early HR,prevent the transformation of hypertensive microangiopathy,and provide useful information explaining the changes in neural mechanism associated with HR.

AIM:To assess the alterations in the resting-state function connections between the two cerebral hemispheres in patients with optic neuritis(ON)and healthy controls(HCs).METHODS:A total of 12 ON patients(six males and six females)and 12 HCs(six males and six females)who were highly matched for sex,age,and educational level were *** underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI),testing and brain activities were assessed using the degree centrality(DC)*** analysis between the mean DC values in specific brain areas and behavior performances was analyzed as *** correlations between A anxiety scale(AS)and depression scale(DS)values and DC values in brain regions of patients with ON were also ***:The areas that showed a higher DC value in ON patients were the right angular gyrus and bilateral precuneus,while the left insula and left superior temporal gyrus(LSTG)were regions that presented a lower DC value in ON patients.A receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis confirmed the accuracy of the area under the curve(AUC)*** analysis showed anxiety scale(AS)and depression scale(DS)values in the left insula were both negatively correlated with DC values,while best corrected visual acuity logMAR-R(BCVA logMAR-R)showed a negative correlation with DC in the ***:The study explores altered brain activities of specific regions in patients with *** results provide clues for revealing the underlying mechanism of ON development.

We study entanglement dynamics of three-qubit system via negativity. Three atoms A, B, and C interact isolatedly with their own Jaynes-Cummings cavities a, b, and c. Aa system is prepared entangled with Bb and Cc, however, their mutual isolations forbid Aa interacting with system Bb and Cc. It is the same for system Bb and Cc. We show entanglement evolution of different three-qubit systems ABC, abc, Abc, and aBC and find entanglement sudden death effect.

Chemical synthesis of proteins using hydrazide intermediates

Protein chemical synthesis offers useful and otherwise-difficulty-to-obtain biomacromolecules for biological and pharmaceutical studies. Recently, the hydrazide chemistry has drawn attentions in this field as peptide or protein hydrazides can be used as key intermediates for different synthesis and modification purposes. Besides being a traditional bioorthogonal chemical handle, a hydrazide group can serve as a readily accessible precursor of a thioester. This strategy significantly improves the efficiency and scope of native chemical ligation for protein chemical synthesis. Here we review the chemical transformations of peptide or protein hydrazides and total/semi/enzymatic protein synthesis methods involving peptide or protein hydrazides. Several examples of protein chemical synthesis using peptide hydrazides as key intermediates are described.

Analysis of All-Carbon Brick Bottom and Ceramic Cup Synthetic Hearth Bottom

One of the bottlenecks of the blast furnace （BF） campaign is the life length of hearth bottom. The basic reason for the erosion of hearth bottom is its direct contact with hot metal. According to the theory of heat transfer, models of BF hearth bottom are built based on the actual examples using software and VC language, and the calculated results are in good agreement with the data of BF dissection after blowing out. The temperature distribution and the capability of the resistance to erosion for different structures of hearth bottom are analyzed, especially the two prevalent kinds of hearth bottom arrangements called ＂the method of heat transfer＂ for all-carbon brick bottom and ＂the method of heat isolation＂ for ceramic synthetic hearth bottom. Features of the two kinds of hearth bottoms are analyzed. Also the different ways of protecting the hearth bottom are clarified, according to some actual examples. After that, the same essence of prolonging life, and the fact that the existence of a ＂protective skull＂ with low thermal conductivity between the hot metal and brick layers is of utmost importance are shown.

A novel braking material,C/C-ZrB_(2)-ZrC-SiC carbon fibre-reinforced hybrid ceramic matrix composite,was prepared by chemical vapour infiltration and polymeric precursor infiltration and *** of the microstructure of C/C-ZrB_(2)-ZrC-SiC composite showed the homogenous dispersion of three-phase ceramic as the *** frictional properties of the hybrid C/C-ZrB_(2)-ZrC-SiC ceramic matrix composite were measured by a disk-on-disk type dynamometer under dry and wet conditions to simulate the normal landing state of aircraft brake disk friction pairs.C/C-ZrB_(2)-ZrC-SiC ceramic matrix composite has a higher and more stable friction coefficient under wet condition than under dry condition,indicating that the composite has better performance compared with C/C or C/C-SiC braking materials.

The precise regulation of cell fate by biomaterials is one of the core focuses in tissue engineering and regenerative therapeutics. Cell fate is controlled by the niche signaling cues, including growth factors/morphogens, direct cell-cell contact, and extracellular matrix components. Here, we discuss how to bio-mimic cell-cell interaction by tailoring the interface of biomaterials to design effective scaffolds. Cadherins, as a key cell membrane protein family mediating the intercellular adherens junction, have attracted extensive attention in the functional modification of biomaterials. Therefore, cadherin-based biomaterials, their ability to modulate stem cell fate, and their applications in regenerative medicine are reviewed. Furthermore, we provide an outlook for exploiting the bio-mimic biomaterials in advanced cell therapeutics.

Robust stability of discrete-time nonlinear system with time-delay

The robustly asymptotical stability problem for discrete-time nonlinear systems with time-delay was investigated. Positive definite matrix are constructed through Lyapunov functional. With the identity transform, property of matrix inverse and S-procedure, a new sufficient condition independent of the size of time-delay for robust stability of discrete-time nonlinear systems with time-delay is established. With Schur complement, another equivalent sufficient condition for robust stability of discrete-time nonlinear systems with time-delay is given. Finally, a sufficient condition dependent on the size of time-delay for robust stability of discrete-time nonlinear systems with time-delay is obtained. A unified approach is used to cast the robust stability problem into a convex optimization involving linear matrix inequalities.

Terahertz time-domain spectroscopic investigation on quinones

Well resolved far-infrared spectra of 1,4-benzoquinone, 1,4-naphthoquinone, and 9, 10-anthraquinonme in polycrystalline form have been measured with terahertz time domain spectroscopy at room tem- perature. The characterizations of power absorption and index of refraction in the frequency range 0.3 -2.0 THz are presented. Theoretical calculation is applied to assist the analysis and assignment of individual THz absorption spectra of the p-quinones with semiempirical AM1, Hartree-Fock (HF), and density functional theory (DFT) method. Observed THz responses are assigned to the translational and torsional vibrations of p-quinone dimer held together by weak hydrogen bonds.

Design of thiol-containing amino acids for native chemical ligation at non-Cys sites

Protein chemical synthesis usually relies on the use of native chemical ligation that couples peptide thioester with a Cys-peptide. A limitation of this method is the difficulty of finding an appropriate Cys ligation site in many synthetic targets. To overcome this problem, the ligation-desulfurization approach has been developed. This approach involves the use of a thiol-containing amino acid as the ligation partner. After the sequence assembly is completed, the thiol group is removed through a desulfurization reaction to generate the standard amino acids. Currently this strategy has been applied to the ligations at a number of amino acids including Ala, Phe, Val, Lys, Thr, Leu, Pro and Gin. The present article reviews the design and svnthesis of these thiol-containing amino acids for native chemical libation at non-Cys sites.
