Soil-borne pathogen Phytophthora sojae is an oomycete that causes devastating damage to soybean yield. To mine original resistant genes in soybean is an effective and environmentally-friend approach controlling the disease. In this study, soybean proteins were extracted from the first trifoliolates infected by predominant P. sojae race 1 and analyzed by twodimensional gel electrophoresis. Nineteen differently-expressed protein spots were detected, and 10 of them were further applied for Matrix-Assisted Laser desorption/Ionization Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry Assay. One protein containing a dirigent （DIR） domain was identified and belonged to the DIR-b/d family. Therefore, it was named as GmDRR1 （Glycine max Disease Resistance Response 1）. Then, GmDRR1 gene was pathologically confirmed to be involved in the resistant to P. sojae in soybean. GmDRR1-GFP （green fluorescent protein） fusion proteins localized in the cell membrane. qRTPCR results showed GmDRR1 gene expressed differently in P. sojae resistant- and susceptible-soybean cultivars. By the promoter analysis, we found a haplotype H8 was existing in most resistant soybean varieties, while a haplotype H77 was existing in most susceptible soybean varieties. The H77 haplotype had seven SNPs （C to A, G to C, C to A, T to A, T to C, T to C, and T to A） and two single nucleotide insertions. The results supported that the expression difference of GmDRR1 genes between P. sojae resistant- and susceptible-soybean cultivars might depend on the GmDRR1 promoter SNPs. The results suggested that GmDRR1 was a dirigent protein involved in soybean resistant to P. sojae and paved a novel way for investigation of the molecular regulatory mechanism of the defense response to P. sojae in soybean.

AIM： To investigate whether continuous veno-venous hemofiltration （CVVH） in different filtration rate to eliminate cytokines would result in different efficiency in acute pancreatitis, whether the saturation time of filter membrane was related to different filtration rate, and whether the onset time of CWH could influence the survival of acute pancreatitis. METHODS： Thirty-seven patients were classified into four groups randomly. Group 1 underwent low-volume CVVH within 48 h of the onset of abdominal pain （early CVVH, n = 9）. Group 2 received low-volume CVVH after 96 h of the onset of abdominal pain （late CVVH, n= 10）. Group 3 underwent high-volume CVVH within 48 h of the onset of abdominal pain （early CVVH, n = 9）. Group 4 received high-volume CVVH after 96 h of theonset of abdominal pain （late CVVH, n = 9）. CVVH was sustained for at least 72 h. Blood was taken before hemofiltration, and ultrafiltrate was collected at the start of CVVH and every 12 h during CVVH period for the purpose of measuring the concentrations of TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6. The concentrations of TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 were measured by swine-specific ELISA. The Solartron 1 255 B frequency response analyzer （British） was used to observe the resistance of filter membrane. RESULTS： The survival rate had a significant difference （94.44% vs68.42%, P〈0.01） high-volume and low-volume CVVH patients. The survival rate had also a significant difference （88.89% vs 73.68%, P〈0.05） between early and late CVVH patients. The hemodynamic deterioration （MAP, HR, CVP） was less severe in groups 4 and 1 bhan that in group 2, and in group 3 than in group 4. The adsorptive saturation time of filters membranes was 120-180 min if the filtration rate was 1 000-4 000 mL/h. The fall armyworm(FAW)Spodoptera frugiperda,which originated in the Americas,is advancing across China and threatening the nation’s maize ***,one widely used tool for its control is genetically modified(GM)Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt)*** content of Bt protein in appropriate plant parts is crucial for enhancing resistance against insect *** this study,we conducted a systematic investigation of Cry1 Ab levels in Chinese domestic GM maize DBN9936,which has recently obtained a biosafety certificate,and evaluated its efficacy against *** of expression levels of Cry1 Ab,via ELISA,indicated a spatio-temporal dynamic,with significant variation of mean Cry1 Ab,ranging from 0.76 to 8.48μg g-1 FW with the Cry1 Ab protein level ranked as:V6-V8 leaf>R1 leaf>R4 leaf>R1 silk>VT tassel>R4 *** the nine locations,the Cry1 Ab levels in DBN9936 of the Xinxiang,Langfang,and Harbin fields were significantly lower than those from Wuhan and Shenyang,and were slightly,but not significantly lower than those from the other four ***,the artificial diet-Cry1 Ab mixture and plant tissue feeding bioassays revealed that DBN9936 has high efficacy against *** insecticidal efficacy of different tissues against FAW larvae reached 34-100%with a descending order of lethality as follows:VT leaf>R4 leaf>R1 husk>R1 silk>VT tassel>R4 *** together,our results showed that Bt-Cry1 Ab maize DBN9936 has potential as a promising strategy to manage FAW.

Two kinds of different mechanistic oscillations can be displayed in the H_2O_2-KSCN-CuSO_4-NaOH system. One discovered by this study is the pH oscillation in a continuous flow stirred tank reactor(CSTR) resulting from the oxidation of KSCN. The other is the oscillation of H_2O_2 decomposition in both CSTR and batch reactors(reported by Orbáin in 1986). Under appropriate experimental conditions, the system exhibits a birhythmicity in a CSTR. Two different pH oscillations are reported here. The pH oscillations which accompany the decomposition of H_2O_2 exist in the batch reactor and the CSTR at a high flowrate, but the pH oscillations in a CSTR at a low flowrate originates from proton positive and negative feedback in the oxidation of KSCN. The oscillation of non-catalyzed oxidation of KSCN by hydrogen peroxide in a CSTR can be found. Also we have observed whether Cu^(2+) exists or not in the batch system, the pH increases to near neutral ultimately after pH drops twice.

Tricheary elements （TEs）, wrapped by secondary cell wall, play essential roles in water, mineral, and nutrient transduction. Cadmium （Cd） is a toxic heavy metal that is absorbed by roots and transported to shoot, leaves, and grains through vascular systems in plants. As rice is a major source of Cd intake, many efforts have been made to establish ＇low- Cd rice＇. However, no links have been found between cellulose biosynthesis and cadmium accumulation. We report here a rice brittle culm13 mutant, resulting from a novel missense mutation （G101K） in the N-terminus of cellulose synthase subunit 9 （CESA9）. Except for the abnormal mechanical strength, the mutant plants are morphologically indistinguishable from the wild-type plants. Transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and chemical analyses showed a slight reduction in secondary wall thickness and 22% decrease in cellulose content in bc13 plants. Moreover, this mutation unexpectedly confers the mutant plants Cd tolerance due to less Cd accumulation in leaves. Expression analysis of the genes required for Cd uptake and transport revealed complicated alterations after applying Cd to wild-type and bc13. The mutants were further found to have altered vascular structure. More importantly, Cd concentration in the xylem saps from the bc13 plants was significantly lower than that from the wild-type. Combining the analyses of CESA9 gene expression and Cd content retention in the cell-wall residues, we conclude that CESA9^G101K mutation alters cell-wall properties in the conducting tissues, which consequently affects Cd translocation efficiency that largely contributes to the low Cd accumulation in the mutant plants.
