We have systemically investigated the synergistic evolution of rhenium(Re)and irradiation defects in tungsten(W)-Re alloys under different temperatures and irradiation doses using object Kinetic Monte Carlo *** results revealed the underlying mechanism for the transition of Re effect on W from beneficial to harmful during the Re-defects evolution with the increase of irradiation dose,in which tem-perature always plays a critical *** the one hand,Re will significantly promote the defect annihila-tion at low irradiation doses and high temperatures,thereby effectively reducing their sizes and number *** is due to the formation of stable Re-SIAs complexes that can be eliminated by the mobile vacancy-type defects,whereas the transition of the migration pattern of SIAs only plays a weak role in the defect recombination in W-Re *** the other hand,with the increase of irradiation dose,Re will aggregate to form Re-rich clusters or even ***,the formation mechanism of Re-rich clusters is also dependent on *** low temperatures,the interstitial-mediated mech-anism plays a crucial role in the Re-rich cluster formation,while at high temperatures,both SIA-type and vacancy-type defects will act as the transport carriers of Re to promote their ***,the critical conditions for the transition of Re from beneficial to harmful and the formation of Re-rich clusters at different tem peratures and irradiation doses are given with the help of the phase *** work presents the temperature dependence of the synergy of Re and irradiation defects in W-Re in fusion-relevant environment,which provides a good reference for the development of radiation-resistant materials and the prediction of W performance in fusion reactors.

Soybean yield has traditionally been increased through high planting density,but investigating plant height and petiole traits to select for compact architecture,lodging resistance,and high yield varieties is an underexplored option for further improving *** compared the relationships between yield-related traits,lodging resistance,and petioleassociated phenotypes in the short petiole germplasm M657 with three control accessions during 2017–2018 in four locations in the huang–huai region,*** results showed that M657 exhibited stable and high tolerance to high planting density and resistance to lodging,especially at the highest density(8×105 plants ha–1).The regression analysis indicated that a shorter petiole length was significantly associated with increased lodging *** yield analysis showed that M657 achieved higher yields under higher densities,especially in the northern part of the huang–huai *** the varieties,there were markedly different responses to intra-and inter-row spacing designs with respect to both lodging and yield that were related to location and *** was positively correlated with planting density,plant height,petiole length,and number of effective branches,but negatively correlated with stem diameter,seed number per plant,and seed weight per *** yield of soybean was increased by appropriately increasing the planting density on the basis of the current soybean varieties in the huang–huai *** study provides a valuable new germplasm resource for the introgression of compact architecture traits that are amenable to providing a high yield in high density planting systems,and it establishes a high-yield model of soybean in the huang–huai region.

This study aimed to investigate the long-term biocompatibility, safety, and degradation of the ultrathin nitrided iron bioresorbable scaffold (BRS) in vivo, encompassing the whole process of bioresorption in porcine coronary arteries. Fifty-two nitrided iron scaffolds (strut thickness of 70 μm) and 28 Vision Co–Cr stents were randomly implanted into coronary arteries of healthy mini-swine. The efficacy and safety of the nitrided iron scaffold were comparable with those of the Vision stentwithin 52 weeks after implantation. In addition, the long-term biocompatibility, safety, and bioresorption of the nitrided iron scaffold were evaluated by coronary angiog-raphy, optical coherence tomography, micro-computed tomography, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectrometry and histopathological evaluations at 4, 12, 26, 52 weeks and even at 7 years after im-plantation. In particular, a large number of struts were almost completely absorbed in situ at 7 years follow-up, which were first illustrated in this study. The lymphatic drainage pathway might serve as the potential clearance way of iron and its corrosion products.

Hypobaric hypoxia (HH) exposure can cause serious brain injury as well as life-threatening cerebral edema in severe cases. Previous studies on the mechanisms of HH-induced brain injury have been conducted primarily using non-primate animal models that are genetically distant to humans, thus hindering the development of disease treatment. Here, we report that cynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) exposed to acute HH developed human-like HH syndrome involving severe brain injury and abnormal behavior. Transcriptome profiling of white blood cells and brain tissue from monkeys exposed to increasing altitude revealed the central role of the HIF-1 and other novel signaling pathways, such as the vitamin D receptor (VDR) signaling pathway, in co-regulating HH-induced inflammation processes. We also observed profound transcriptomic alterations in brains after exposure to acute HH, including the activation of angiogenesis and impairment of aerobic respiration and protein folding processes, which likely underlie the pathological effects of HH-induced brain injury. Administration of progesterone (PROG) and steroid neuroprotectant 5α-androst-3β,5,6β-triol (TRIOL) significantly attenuated brain injuries and rescued the transcriptomic changes induced by acute HH. Functional investigation of the affected genes suggested that these two neuroprotectants protect the brain by targeting different pathways, with PROG enhancing erythropoiesis and TRIOL suppressing glutamate-induced excitotoxicity. Thus, this study advances our understanding of the pathology induced by acute HH and provides potential compounds for the development of neuroprotectant drugs for therapeutic treatment.

Summary:In late December 2019,COVID-19 was firstly recognized in Wuhan,China and spread rapidly to all of the provinces of *** West Campus of Wuhan Union Hospital,the designated hospital to admit and treat the severe and critically ill COVID-19 cases,has treated a large number of such patients with great success and obtained lots of valuable experiences based on the Chinese guideline(V7.0).To standardize and share the treatment procedures of severe and critically ill cases,Wuhan Union Hospital has established a working group and formulated an operational recommendation,including the monitoring,early warning indicators,and several treatment principles for severe and critically ill *** treatment experiences may provide some constructive suggestions for treating the severe and critically ill COVID-19 cases all over the world.
