Mitochondria,with their intricate networks of functions and information processing,are pivotal in both health regulation and disease ***,mitochondrial dysfunctions are identified in many common pathologies,including cardiovascular diseases,neurodegeneration,metabolic syndrome,and ***,the multifaceted nature and elusive phenotypic threshold of mitochondrial dysfunction complicate our understanding of their contributions to ***,these complexities do not prevent mitochondria from being among the most important therapeutic *** recent years,strategies targeting mitochondrial dysfunction have continuously emerged and transitioned to clinical *** intervention such as using healthy mitochondria to replenish or replace damaged mitochondria,has shown promise in preclinical trials of various *** components,including mtDNA,mitochondria-located microRNA,and associated proteins can be potential therapeutic agents to augment mitochondrial function in immunometabolic diseases and tissue ***,we review current knowledge of mitochondrial pathophysiology in concrete examples of common *** also summarize current strategies to treat mitochondrial dysfunction from the perspective of dietary supplements and targeted therapies,as well as the clinical translational situation of related pharmacology ***,this review discusses the innovations and potential applications of mitochondrial transplantation as an advanced and promising treatment.

The estimation of above-ground biomass(AGB) and carbon storage is very important for arid and semi-arid ***-1A/B satellite data combined with field measurement data was used for the estimation of shrub AGB and carbon storage in the Mu Us desert,*** correlations of shrub AGB and spectral reflectance of four bands as well as their combined vegetation indexes were respectively analyzed and stepwise regression analysis was employed to establish AGB prediction *** prediction equation based on ratio vegetation index(RVI)was proved to be more suitable for shrub AGB estimation in the Mu Us desert than *** AGB and carbon storage were mapped using the RVI based prediction model in *** statistics showed the western Mu Us desert has relatively high AGB and carbon storage,and that the gross shrub carton storage in Mu Us desert reaches 16 799 2.0 t,which has greatly contributed to the carbon fixation in northern China.

Ten thousands of bone fragments were recovered from the Ma’anshan Paleolithic site, of which 4358 pieces can be identified to skeletal elements or species. In this research, the bone assemblages are quantified based on elements of MNI, MNE, and MAU. Then bone surface modifications and skeletal element profiles of the bone assemblages are studied to understand shlepping behaviors and reveal the technique of disarticulating and defleshing the animals’ bodies, etc. Based on the analyses of bone assemblages and the comparative study with the ethnoarchaeological as well as experimental data, it is assumed that later hominids at the site made fuller use of the game animals than the earlier hominids. Incorporating the lines of evidence from chronological dating, paleoenvironment, and polished bone tools between the two cultural layers, here we propose three hypotheses suggesting that the changes of environment, the migrations of the hominids from the North, or the demographic pulses may cause such a behavioral difference. However, it is yet to be determined which hypothesis can better explain the changes.

The wild-type Cry1Ie gene from Bacillus thuringiensis was modified for its efficient expression in transgenic plants. Modified Cry1Ie gene (designated as Cry1Iem) was cloned into prokaryotic expression vector pET2.b and its expression in E. coli was confirmed by SDS-PAGE analysis. Bioassays using crude expression products in E. coli revealed that Cry1Iem protein had a similar toxicity to corn borer as wild-type Cry1Ie. Cry1Iem gene was then inserted downstream of the maize ubiquitin-1 promoter in plant expression vector p3301. Transgenic tobacco plants carrying Cry1Iem showed insecticidal activity against corn borer.

Transformation optics(TO) provides an unprecedented technique to control electromagnetic(EM) waves by engineering the constitutive parameters of the surrounding medium through a proper spatial transformation. In general, ideal transformation optical devices require simultaneous electric and magnetic responses along all three dimensions. To ease the practical implementation, previous studies usually made use of reduced parameters or other simplified approaches, which inevitably introduce extra reflection or unwanted phase shift. Up to today, experimental realizations of full-parameter transformation optical devices in free space are still quite limited. here, a general design strategy is proposed to solve this *** a specific example, a full-parameter spatial-compression TO medium with constitutive parameters taking the diagonal form diag(a, a, 1/a) for the TM wave incidence was designed and realized experimentally. Such spatial-compression TO media were then applied to the implementation of an ideal omnidirectional invisibility cloak capable of concealing a large-scale object over a wide range of illumination angles. Both the simulation and experiment confirm that the cloak allows for nearly unity transmission of EM waves in the forward direction without introducing extra scattering or phase shift. This work constitutes an important stepping stone for future practical implementation of arbitrary full-parameter omnidirectional transformation optical devices.

The spatial distribution of sub-pixel components has an impact on retrieval accuracy,and should be accounted for when inverting a three-dimensional adiative transfer model to retrieve leaf area index(LAI).To investigate this effect,we constructed three realistic scenarios with the same LAI values and other properties,except that the simulated plants had different *** implemented the radiosity method to subsequently produce synthetic bidirectional reflectance factor(BRF) datasets based upon these simulated *** inversion was conducted using these data,which showed that spatial distribution affects retrieval *** inversion was also conducted for LAI based on charge-coupled device(CCD) data from the Environment and Disaster Monitor Satellite(HJ-1),which depicted both forest and drought-resistant crop land *** showed that heterogeneity in coarse-resolution remote sensing data is the main error source in LAI *** spatial distribution of global fractal dimension index,which can be used to describe the area of sub-pixel components and their spatial distribution modes,shows good consistency with the coarse resolution LAI inversion error.

Adding PD-1 blockade in the neoadjuvant regimens for locally advanced rectal cancer(LARC)patients with microsatellite stable(MsS)/mismatch repair-proficient(pMMR)tumors is an attractive,but debatable *** phase 2.multicenter,prospective,single-arm study enrolled patients from 6 centers from June 2.2. to November *** advanced rectal cancer(LARC,cT_(3-4a)N_(0)M_(0) and cT_(1-4a)N_(1-2.M_(0))patients aged≥18 years with the distance from distal border of tumor to anal verge≤10 cm(identified by Magnetic Resonance Imaging)were qualifed for *** patients received long-course radiotherapy(50 Gy/2. fractions,2.Gy/fraction,5 days/week)and three 2.-day cycles capecitabine(850-1000 mg/m2.bid,po,day1-14)and three 2.-day cycles tislelizumab(2.0 mg,***,day8)as *** mesorectal excision(TME)was 6-12.weeks after the end of radiotherapy to achieve radical resection.A total of 50 patients were enrolled in this *** pathological complete response rate was 40.0%[2./50,95%confidence interval(CI):2..61-53.82.],while 15(30.0%,95%CI:19.1-43.75%),9(18.0%,95%CI:9.77-30.8%),2.4.0%,95%CI:1.10-13.46%)patients respectively achieved grade 1,2.and 3 tumor ***-related adverse events(TRAEs)occurred in 2.(56.0%)LARC patients,including 2.(52.0%)with grade I-II and 2.4.0%)with grade II(1 with grade 3 immune-related colitis and 1 with grade 3 rash).PD-1 blockade plus long-course chemoradiotherapy(CRT)showed promising therapeutic effects according to pathological complete response rate and is well-tolerated in LARC patients.A larger randomized controlled study is desired to further validate the above findings.

This study was to conducted to investigate the effect of red clover isoflavones on the health indicated by immune status and blood biochemistry in dairy cows. Sixty-eight healthy Holstein lactating cows were randomly divided into four treatments(n = 17 per treatment) from 5 blocks according to milk yield using a randomized complete block design. No initial differences in parity(2.13 ± 1.2.), days in milk(165 ± 2. d), and milk yield(33.93 ± 3.81 kg/d) between groups. Cows were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0, 2. 4, or 8 g/kg red clover extract(RCE) in diet(dry matter based). Feeding, refusal feed weights, and milk yield were recorded three consecutive days in weeks 0, 4, 8, and 12. Blood was collected from the tail vein of the cows on the last day of weeks 4, 8 and 12. 1 h after the morning feeding,and analyzed for hormones, immunoglobulins, inflammatory markers, and markers of liver and kidney activities. The dry matter intake was significantly decreased by 3.7% in the 8 g/kg group(P he fat-corrected milk yield was significantly higher in both of the 2.and 4 g/kg groups(P 1). Plasma estradiol and prolactin showed a quadratic effect with increasing RCE levels, with the highest in the 4 g/kg group(P 1β levels decreased linearly with increasing dietary RCE levels. Plasma IL-18 levels showed a quadratic effect with increasing dietary RCE levels, with significantly lower levels in both of the 2.and 4 g/kg groups(P her level in the 4 g/kg group(P he liver function and kidney activity makers were similar(P > 0.05). These results recommend the supplementation of RCE at a level from 2.to4 g/kg DM.
