A Hybrid Evolutionary Under-sampling Method for Handling the Class Imbalance Problem with Overlap in Credit Classification

Credit risk assessment is an important task of risk management for financial institutions.Machine learning-based approaches have made promising progress in credit risk assessment by treating it as imbalanced binary classification tasks.However,few efforts have been made to deal with the class overlap problem that accompanies imbalances simultaneously.To this end,this study proposes a Tomek link and genetic algorithm(GA)-based under-sampling framework(TEUS)to address the class imbalance and overlap issues in binary credit classification by eliminating majority class instances with considering multi-perspective factors.TEUS first determines boundary majority instances with Tomek link,then take the distance from each majority instance to its nearest boundary as the radius and assigns the density of opposite class samples within the radius as the overlap potential of that majority instance.Second,TEUS weighs each non-borderline majority instance based on its information contribution in estimating class labels.After partitioning non-borderline majority instances into subgroups according to overlap potential and information contribution,TEUS applies GA to select samples from subgroups and merge them with the minority samples into a new training set.Innovatively,the design of the fitness function in GA and the grouping of the non-borderline majority not only trade off the multi-perspective characteristics of instances but also help reduce the computational complexity of the sampling optimization search.Numerical experiments on real-world credit data sets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed TEUS.

Spatial differentiation and dynamic mechanism of micro-geomorphology based on acoustic spectrum data of the Huanghe(Yellow)River Delta

Submarine micro-geomorphology is a geo-morphological type occurring in shallow and surface areas of seabed.The combined relationships and distribution of the micro-geomorphology indirectly reflect coupling relationships among the sediment deposition,dynamic environment,and geomorphologic evolution.Spatial differentiation and dynamic changes in micro-geomorphology were studied based on acoustic data interpretation from a wide range(3200 km^(2))of the Huanghe(Yellow)River delta(HRD).The combination of the sub-bottom profiler and the side-scan sonar methods allowed for the identification of submarine shallow micro-geomorphologic types,as well as their scale and spatial distributions.There were seven typical micro-geomorphologic features in the shallow and surface areas of the HRD,including buried ancient channels,stratigraphic disturbances,scour troughs,sand waves,pits,erosional remnants,and sand spots.The coupling and superposition of the sediment,sediment characteristics,seabed scouring and silting,and hydrodynamic conditions of the Huanghe River had combined effects on the patterns of micro-geomorphologic types,characteristics,and ranges.From the perspective of acoustic profile interpretations,the scale,range,and spatial locations of the microgeomorphology in the HRD revealed seasonal variation characteristics,and the spatial distributions displayed significant regional differentiation characteristics.In addition,strong stratigraphic disturbances and areas with densely distributed buried ancient channels reflected the activity and instability of the submarine shallow strata.Through the interpretation of the sub-bottom profile detection data,the diversion processes of the flow paths in the lower reaches of the Huanghe River were obtained for a certain historical period in the coastal waters of the HRD.This study further clarified the relationships between the micro-geomorphologic features and spatial combinations,which is important for research on micro-geomorphologic features and their dynamic mechanisms.

Objective To describe the global profiles of acetylated proteins in the brains of scrapie agents 139Aand ME7-infected mice collected at mid-early,mid-late,and terminal stages.Methods The acetylated proteins from the cortex regions of scrapie agent(139A-and ME7)-infected mice collected at mid-early(80 days postinfection,dpi),mid-late(120 dpi),and terminal(180 dpi) stages were extracted,and the global profiles of brain acetylated proteins were assayed with proteomic mass spectrometry.The proteins in the infected mice showing 1.5-fold higher or lower levels than that of agematched normal controls were considered as differentially expressed acetylated peptides(DEAPs).Results A total of 118,42,and 51 DEAPs were found in the brains of 139A-80,139A-120,and 139A-180dpi mice,respectively.Meanwhile,390,227,and 75 DEAPs were detected in the brains of ME7-80,ME7-120,and ME7-180 dpi mice,respectively.The overwhelming majority of DEAPs in the mid-early stage were down-regulated,and more portions of DEAPs in the mid-late and late stages were up-regulated.Approximately 22.1%(328/1,485) of acetylated peptides mapped to 74 different proteins were mitochondrial associated.Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis identified 39(80dpi),13(120 dpi),and 10(180 dpi) significantly changed pathways in 139A-infected mice.Meanwhile,55,25,and 18 significantly changed pathways were observed in the 80,120,and 180 dpi samples of139A-and ME7-infected mice(P lic acid cycle) were affected,represented by down-regulated acetylation for relevant enzymes in the mid-early stage and upregulated acetylation in the mid-late and late stages.Conclusion Our data here illustrated the changes in the global profiles for brain acetylated proteins during prion infection,showing remarkably inhibited acetylation in the early stage and relatively enhanced acetylation in the late stage.

Effectiveness of Acupoint Application in Patients with Pharyngeal Pain: Evidence from CHUNBO, A Prospective Real-World Study

Objective: To assess the outcomes after acupoint application in patients with pharyngeal pain in a real-world settings, and analyze the characteristics of effective population and prescription characteristics of acupoint application. Methods: Based on CHUNBO platform, patients with pharyngeal pain who were candidates for acupoint application on the basis of physician-evaluation, were enrolled in a nationwide, prospective, 69-week multicenter observational study from August 2020 to February 2022. Propensity score matching(PSM) was used to match the confounding factors and the association rules were used to analyze the characteristics of effective population and prescription characteristics of acupoint application. Outcome assessments included the disappearance rate of pharyngeal pain(within 3, 7, and 14 days), disappearance time of pharyngeal pain, as well as adverse events. Results: Of 7,699 enrolled participants, 6,693(86.9%) received acupoint application and 1,450(21.7%) with non-acupoint application. After PSM, there were 1,004 patients each in the application group(AG) and non-application group(NAG). The disappearance rate of pharyngeal pain in the AG at 3, 7, and 14 days were all higher than those in the NAG(Plication group with tonsil diseases was 2.19 times higher than that in the NAG(Plied to RN 8 most frequently(support 84.39%). Layout design of thin-walled structures with lattices and stiffeners using multi-material topology optimization

In this paper,the thin-walled structures with lattices and stiffeners manufactured by additive manufacturing are investigated.A design method based on the multi-material topology optimization is proposed for the simultaneous layout optimization of the lattices and stiffeners in thin-walled structures.First,the representative lattice units of the selected lattices are equivalent to the virtual homogeneous materials whose effective elastic matrixes are achieved by the energy-based homogenization method.Meanwhile,the stiffeners are modelled using the solid material.Subsequently,the multi-material topology optimization formulation is established for both the virtual homogeneous materials and solid material to minimize the structural compliance under mass constraint.Thus,the optimal layout of both the lattices and stiffeners could be simultaneously attained by the optimization procedure.Two applications,the aircraft panel structure and the equipment mounting plate,are dealt with to demonstrate the detailed design procedure and reveal the effect of the proposed method.According to numerical comparisons and experimental results,the thin-walled structures with lattices and stiffeners have significant advantages over the traditional stiffened thin-walled structures and lattice sandwich structures in terms of static,dynamic and anti-instability performance.

Preparation of PrP-specific Polyclonal Antibody via Immunization of PRNP-knockout Mice with Recombinant Human PrP Protein

Objective The definite diagnosis of human and animal prion diseases depends on the examination of special pathological changes and/or detection of PrPSc in the brain tissues of suspected cases.Thus,developing methods to obtain PrP antibody with good specificity and sensitivity is fundamental for prion identification.Methods We prepared a PrP-specific polyclonal antibody(pAb P54)in a PRNP-knockout mouse model via immunization with recombinant full-length human PrP protein residues 23–231.Thereafter,we verified that pAb in Western blot,immunohistochemistry(IHC),and immunofluorescent(IFA)assays.Results Western blot illustrated that the newly prepared pAb P54 could react with recombinant PrP protein,normal brain PrPC from healthy rodents and humans,and pathological PrPSc in the brains of experimental rodents infected with scrapie and humans infected with different types of prion diseases.The electrophoretic patterns of brain PrPC and PrPSc observed after their reaction with pAb P54 were nearly identical to those produced by commercial PrP monoclonal antibodies.Three glycosylated PrP molecules in the brain homogenates were clearly demonstrated in the reactions of these molecules with pAb P54.IHC assay revealed apparent PrP deposits in the GdnCl-treated brain slices of 139 A-infected mice and 263 K-infected hamsters.IFA tests with pAb P54 also showed clear green signals surrounding blue-stained cell nuclei.Conclusion The newly prepared pAb P54 demonstrated reliable specificity and sensitivity and,thus,may have potential applications not only in studies of prion biology but also in the diagnosis of human and experimental rodent prion diseases.

Optimization of manganese-rich slag extraction from low-manganese ore smelting by response surface methodology

Manganese-rich slag is a raw material for smelting silicon–manganese alloys using an electric furnace.The blast furnace method is the main method for smelting manganese-rich slag.This method has the problems of a long process,large coke consumption,and easy volatilization of metals such as lead and zinc,which affects smelting safety.A new technology for smelting manganese-rich slag with low-manganese high-iron ore by smelting reduction optimization was proposed.This technology has the advantages of a short process,low energy consumption,low carbon emissions,and comprehensive recycling of lead,zinc,and other metals.According to the chemical composition,X-ray diffraction analysis,and particle size analysis of Cote d’Ivoire low-manganese ore,an experiment was carried out on manganese-rich slag by reduction–smelting separation.Combined with the design scheme of the Box–Behnken principle,three experimental factors(temperature,basicity,and carbon content)were selected as the influences to study.The influence that each factor has on the recovery rate of manganese was studied by response surface methodology,and the experimental factors were optimized.The results show that under the conditions of a reduction-smelting temperature of 1402℃,basicity of R=0.10,and carbon content of 10 mass%,the recovery rate of manganese is 97%.A verification experiment was carried out under the optimal conditions,and the error was only 1.24%;this proves that the response surface method prediction model is reliable and accurate.This is of great significance for the comprehensive utilization of lean-manganese ore resources.

Synergistic effects of PtFe/CeO_(2)catalysts afford high catalytic performance in selective hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde

Selective hydrogenation of unsaturated aldehydes remains a grand challenge in controlling chemoselectivity up to now.We synthesized a series of PtFex/CeO_(2)catalysts,which were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)as well as temperature-programmed-reduction by hydrogen(H2-TPR).The catalytic performance of PtFex/CeO_(2),including cinnamaldehyde(CAL)conversion and selectivity toward cinnamyl alcohol(COL),is improved remarkably by introduction of Fe species in the Pt particles in the selective CAL hydrogenation under mild conditions.XPS results indicate that the electron transfer from Fe to Pt promotes CAL adsorption,resulting in the enhanced CAL conversion.And the COL selectivity is improved by CAL adsorption via an interaction of C=O group with surface oxygen defect sites because of interaction between PtFe and CeO_(2)support.In all,this study may provide some hints to design efficient nano Pt particles for the selective hydrogenation.

Understanding the excretion rates of methylmercury and inorganic mercury from human body via hair and fingernails

Effective biomarkers are necessary to better understand the human mercury(Hg) exposure levels. However, mismatched biomarker sampling method causes extra uncertainty in assessing the risk of Hg exposure. To compare the differences between hair and fingernail, and further understand the excretion rates of methylmercury(MeHg) and inorganic mercury(IHg) via hair and fingernails, the total mercury(THg), Me Hg, and IHg concentrations in paired hair and fingernail samples were investigated through paired samples collected from two typical mining areas, Wanshan mercury mine area(WMMA) and Hezhang zinc smelting area(HZSA). The positive correlation in THg, MeHg, and IHg concentrations( p lication of assessing human Hg exposure. Compared to fingernails, the hair was suggested to be a more sensitive biomarker as the concentration of THg, MeHg and IHg were 2~4 times higher than those in fingernails. Furthermore, the amounts of THg, MeHg, and IHg excreted via hair were 70~226 times higher than that excreted via fingernails, and the hair plays a more important role than fingernails in the excretion of Hg from human bodies. Present study therefore provides some new insights to better understand the fate of human assimilated Hg.
