Scheme for Robust Storage of Multi-particle Entanglement with a Cavity QED System

We propose a scheme for robustly storing multi-atom entangled states involving Bell states, three-particle W-state, n-particle W-like-states, generalized multi-particle W-states, n-particle GHZ-states, and partially entangled states in cavity QED. Our scheme can preserve the internal structure of the entangled states above, with only generation of a global phase corresponding to each of entangled states during the storage of them. One single-mode cavity and n identical two-level atoms are required. Our scheme may be realized in the present technology. The idea may be also utilized to store multi-trapped-ion entangled states in linear ion trap.

The average kinetic energy of 40 Ca＋ ions is measured by the method of evaporating ions in an rf ion trap. The kinetic energy of the ion 40Ca＋ varies from 0.5eV to 0.2eV with changing buffer gas pressure from 10^-7 mbar to 10^-5 mbar. The Brownian motion model is also introduced to calculate the average kinetic energy of the trapped ions.

Superpositional wave function oscillations for the implementation of quantum algorithms modify the desired interference required for the quantum computation. We propose a scheme with trapped ultracold ion-pairs being qubits to diminish the detrimental effect of the wave function oscillations, which is applied to the two-qubit Grover's search. It can be also found that the qubits in our scheme are more robust against the decoherence caused by the environment, and the model is scalable.

The charge transfer rate coefficients for reactions of Sc^(3+)with N_(2) and H_(2) have been measured at the mean collision energy of *** rate coefficients are derived from the decay rate of ion signals by using ion storage in a radio-frequency ion *** rate coefficients are 8.18(0.18)×10^(-10)cm^(3)·s^(-1) at Tequiv≈1.26×10^(4)K for Sc^(3+) with N_(2) and 1.44(0.39)×10^(-9)cm^(3)·s^(-1) at Tequiv>≈1.67×10^(3) K for Sc^(3+) with H_(2),*** results are comparable with the Langevin rate coefficients.

Introducing a dressed-state description,we show that a trapped ion in a standing wave field can be described by a nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings model different from the counterpart of Vogel and Matos Filho[***.A 52(1995)4214]in several aspects,which may carry important implications for the preparation and reconstruction of the nonclassical states of a trapped ion.
