Minimally invasive techniques for lateral maxillary sinus floor elevation: small lateral window and one-stage surgery—a 2–5-year retrospective study

This study aimed to introduce a minimally invasive technique for maxillary sinus floor elevation using the lateral approach(lSFE)and to determine the factors that influence the stability of the grafted area in the sinus *** patients(30 implants)treated with lSFE using minimally invasive techniques from 2015 to 2019 were included in the *** aspects of the implant(central,mesial,distal,buccal,and palatal bone heights[BHs])were measured using cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT)before implant surgery,immediately after surgery(T0),6 months after surgery(T1),and at the last follow-up visit(T2).Patients’characteristics were collected.A small bone window(height,(4.40±0.74)mm;length,(6.26±1.03)mm)was *** implant failed during the follow-up period(3.67±1.75)*** of the 30 implants exhibited *** in BH of the five aspects of implants showed strong correlations with each other and BH decreased dramatically before second-stage *** bone height(RBH)did not significantly influence BH changes,whereas smoking status and type of bone graft materials were the potentially influential *** the approximate three-year observation period,lSFE with a minimally invasive technique demonstrated high implant survival rate and limited bone reduction in grafted *** conclusion,lSFE using minimally invasive techniques was a viable treatment *** who were nonsmokers and whose sinus cavity was filled with deproteinized bovine bone mineral(DBBM)had significantly limited bone resorption in grafted area.

A new Doppler frequency anomaly algorithm for surface current measurement with SAR

Values for Doppler center frequency are calculated from the echo signal at the satellite using the Doppler centroid method and so include the predicted Doppler frequency caused by the relative motion of the satellite and the Earth,which is the main component of Doppler center frequency and must be removed to obtain the Doppler frequency anomaly for ocean current *** this paper,a new Doppler frequency anomaly algorithm was proposed when measuring surface currents with synthetic aperture radar(SAR).The key of the proposed algorithm involved mean filtering method in the range direction and linear fitting in the azimuth direction to remove the radial and the azimuthal component of predicted Doppler frequency from the Doppler center frequency,*** basis is that the theoretical Doppler center frequency model of SAR exhibits an approximately linear characteristic in both the range direction and in the azimuth *** the help of the new algorithm for predicted Doppler frequency removal,the estimation error of Doppler frequency anomaly can be reduced by avoiding employing the theoretical antenna pattern and imperfect satellite attitude parameters in the conventional Doppler frequency *** measurement results demonstrated that,compared to the conventional Doppler frequency with/without error correction method,the proposed algorithm allows for a pronounced improvement in the current measuring accuracy in comparison with the global ocean multi-observation(MOB)*** addition,the eff ectiveness and robustness of the proposed Doppler algorithm has been demonstrated by its application in the high velocity current in the Kuroshio region.

Surface warming patterns dominate the uncertainty in global water vapor plus lapse rate feedback

Climate feedbacks have been usually estimated using changes in radiative effects associated with increased global-mean surface temperature. Feedback uncertainties, however, are not only functions of global-mean surface temperature increase. In projections by global climate models, it has been demonstrated that the geographical variation of sea surface temperature change brings significant uncertainties into atmospheric circulation and precipitation responses at regional scales. Here we show that the spatial pattern of surface warming is a major contributor to uncertainty in the combined water vapour-lapse rate feedback. This is demonstrated by computing the global-mean radiative effects of changes in air temperature and relative humidity simulated by 31 climate models using a methodology based on radiative kernels. Our results highlight the important contribution of regional climate change to the uncertainty in climate feedbacks, and identify the regions of the world where constraining surface warming patterns would be most effective for higher skill of climate projections.

Litter decomposition and ecological stoichiometry of nutrient release is an important part of material cycling and energy flow in forest *** a study of the ecological stoichiometry and nutrient release during litter decomposition in a pine–oak forest ecosystem of the Grain to Green Program(GTGP)area of northern China,a typical pine and oak species(PDS:Pinus densiflora Sieb.,QAC:Quercus acutissima Carr.)were selected in the Taiyi Mountain study *** ecological stoichiometry characteristics of carbon(C),nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)and litter decomposition dynamics were studied by field sampling and quantitative *** results showed the following.(1)The decomposition dynamics of both litters was *** most important climatic factor affecting the litter decomposition rate from May to October was precipitation and temperature from November to April of the following year.(2)Throughout the 300-day study,in both litters,C of the two litters was released,N first accumulated and was then released,and P exhibited a release-accumulate-release pattern.(3)C:P was significantly higher than C:N and N:P(p<0.05);the C:N of PSD litter was higher than that of QAC(p<0.05),but the N:P of QAC litter was higher than that of PSD litter(p<0.05).The C:N of both litters was very high in the study area,indicating that the nutrient release ability during litter decomposition in the two typical pine–oak forest ecosystems was relatively weak;therefore,more attention should be paid to nitrogen-fixing species and mixed forests in the GTGP area of northern China.

Interconnected graphene scaffolds for functional gas sensors with tunable sensitivity

In this work,the interconnected graphene scaffolds are prepared by three-dimensional(3 D)printing for multifunctional gas detection with tunable *** scaffolds with regularly aligned graphene conductive networks exhibit significant mechanical strength and high electrical stability to multi-direction deformation,which can be attributed to the typical core-shell structure of graphene and *** resistance of the free-standing scaffolds can realize the real-time response to H_(2) O and NO_(2),and the relative resistance change to 100 ppm H_(2) O and 100 ppm NO_(2) can reach 2%and 2.5%,*** charge doping of the oxidizing gases is considered to be the main reason for various response sensitivities of the scaffolds with different orthogonal layers,in which the interconnected conductive network can generate a large specific surface area and significantly improving the adsorption of the target gases and the transfer of *** controllable fabrication of regular structure has appropriately great potential for further optimizations and applications in gas detection.

Integration of HAZOP and Bayesian network in city gas explosion emergency response processes

City gas explosion accidents have occurred frequently in recent years,leading to major injuries and *** effective emergency response process is necessary to deal with city gas accidents by preventing them from expanding and reducing ***,emergency response is a complex process that includes many contributing factors,such as personnel,departments,and *** one or more of these factors fails,it will affect the implementation of the emergency ***,more efforts should be made on the systematic procedures and methods addressing risks in emergency response *** the view of Process Hazard Analysis(PHA),the emergency response process can be seen as a work process with many operation *** this sense,PHA methods such as HAZOP can be used for the risk analysis of the emergency response ***,the emergency response process of a city gas explosion accident is broken down into procedure-based *** HAZOP is used to comprehensively review the process and obtain deviations,causes,and consequences,which are considered as risk ***,Bayesian networks are used to characterize the inter relationships of various factors and quantify the risk of the emergency response ***,the most critical events can be identified based on the sensitivity *** results show that firefighters'operations,management of the emergency command center,and environmental conditions on site are critical factors during city gas explosion *** method proposed can help identify potential risks of the emergency response process systematically and prevent accident expansion.

This paper focuscs on the recent progress in the adoption of active disturbance rejection control(ADRC)in thermal pro-cesses as a viable alternative to proportional-_integral-derivative(PID),especially in coa-fired power *** profound interpretation of this paradigm shift,with backward compatibility,is discussed in detail.A few fundamental issues associated with ADRC's applications in thermal processes are discussed,such as implementation,tuning,and the structural *** and case studies are presented,encompassing coal-fired power plants,gas turbines and nuclear power plants,as well as highlighting results of field *** discussed are future research opportunities brought by ADRC's entry as the baseline control technology in thermal processes.

Experimental and numerical analysis of the hydraulic and thermal performances of the gradually-varied porous volumetric solar receiver

A gradually-varied porous structure is designed to increase the thermal performance of the porous volumetric solar *** on the replica method and multilayer recoating technique, the silicon carbide porous ceramic with linear-changed geometrical parameters is fabricated. The performances of the uniform and gradually-varied porous volumetric solar receivers are studied by both experiment and numerical simulation. An optimization method combining genetic algorithm and computational fluid dynamics analysis is applied to determine the optimum porosity distribution. The results present that porous volumetric solar receiver with linear-changed geometrical parameters exhibits better thermal performance than the uniform porous volumetric solar receivers, especially when the thickness of the receiver is small. Larger porosity in the front is beneficial for increasing the solar radiation penetration depth, which limits the reflectance and thermal radiative losses. Smaller porosity in the rear traps more solar radiation and increases the convective heat transfer. When the receiver’s thickness is larger, the performance of the gradually-varied volumetric solar receiver is nearly identical to that of the uniform receiver with largest porosity. The double-layer configuration is found to be the optimized structure of the gradually-varied porous volumetric solar receiver. The thermal efficiency could be further improved using genetic algorithm with an 11 K increase of the outlet temperature.

Phylogeography and Cryptic Species Diversity of Paramesotriton caudopunctatus Species Group(Salamandridae: Paramesotriton) in Guizhou, China

The Paramesotriton caudopunctatus species group is mainly distributed in the karst mountain ecosystems of Guizhou, China. Although some species have been included in previous phylogenetic studies, the evolutionary relationships and divergence-time of members of this species group as a whole remain unexplored. In this study, we report the sequencing of one protein coding mitochondrial gene fragment(ND2) and one nuclear gene(POMC), and use a combination of phylogenetic analyses and coalescent simulations to explore the cryptic diversity and evolutionary history of the P. caudopunctatus species group. Phylogenetic relationships revealed that the P. caudopunctatus species group is composed of two major groups, i. e., East Clade and Western-South Clade. The divergence-time and ancestral area estimation suggested that the P. caudopunctatus species group likely originated in the Doupeng Mountains in Guizhou, China at 12.34 Ma(95% HPD: 8.30–14.73), and intraspecific divergence began at about 2.17 Ma(95% HPD: 1.39–2.97). This timing coincides with the orogenesis of the Miaoling Mountains during the Late Miocene to early Pleistocene. The delimitation of species in the P. caudopunctatus species group supports the existence of the currently identified species, and consensus was confirmed across methods for the existence of least to two cryptic species within what has been traditionally considered to be P. caudopunctatus species group. This study is of significance for understanding the species formation, dispersal, and diversity of the tailed amphibians in the karst mountains ecosystem of Guizhou and the role of the Miaoling Mountains as a geographical barrier to species dispersal.

Effect of temperature and time on the precipitation ofκ-carbides in Fe-28Mn-10Al-0.8C low-density steels:Aging mechanism and its impact on material properties

In low-density steel,κ-carbides primarily precipitate in the form of nanoscale particles within austenite ***,their precipitation within ferrite matrix grains has not been comprehensively explored,and the second-phase evolution mechanism during aging remains *** this study,the crystallographic characteristics and morphological evolution ofκ-carbides in Fe-28Mn-10Al-0.8C(wt%)low-density steel at different aging temperatures and times and the impacts of these changes on the steels’microhardness and properties were comprehensively *** different heat treatment conditions,intragranularκ-carbides exhibited various morpho-logical and crystallographic characteristics,such as acicular,spherical,and short rod-like *** the initial stage of aging,acicularκ-carbides primarily precipitated,accompanied by a few spherical carbides.κ-Carbides grew and coarsened with aging time,the spherical carbides were considerably reduced,and rod-like carbides *** hardness testing demonstrated that the material’s hardness was affected by the volume fraction,morphology,and size ofκ-*** aging at higher temperatures led to an increase in carbide size and volume fraction,resulting in a gradual rise in *** deformation,the primary mechanisms for strengthening were dislocation strengthening and second-phase *** on these findings,potential strategies for improving material strength are proposed.
