Microstructure and mechanical properties of double-side friction stir welded 6082Al ultra-thick plates

In the present work,80 mm thick 6082Al alloy plates were successfully double-side welded by friction stir welding(FSW).The relationship between the microstructures and mechanical properties was built for the double-side FSW butt joint with more attention paid to the local characteristic *** was shown that a phenomenon of microstructural inhomogeneity existed in the nugget zone(Nz)through the thickness *** grain size presented an obvious gradient distribution from the top to the bottom for each single-pass weld,and the microhardness values decreased from both surfaces to the middle of the *** lowest hardness zone(LHz)exhibited a"hyperbolical"-shaped distribution extending to the middle of the *** tensile properties were obtained in the three sliced specimens of the FSW joint,and the joint coefficient reached about 70%which achieved the same level as the conventional FSW Al alloy *** element modeling proved that the"hyperbolical"-shaped heat affected zone(HAz)was beneficial to resisting the strain concentration in the middle layer specimen which helped to increase the tensile *** on the analysis of the hardness contour map,tensile property and microstructural evolution of the joints,an Isothermal Softening Layer(ISL)model was proposed and established,which may have a helpful guidance for the optimization on the FSW of ultra-thick Al alloy plates.

Nitrogen mineralization in the oldest climax communities in the eastern Mediterranean region

In this study,we investigated how tree species affect N mineralization in connection to some soil properties and seconder metabolite levels of litter,in the soil of the old-est native forest *** the oldest pure communi-ties of Pinus nigra(PN),Fagus orientalis(FO),and Abies bornmuelleriana(AB)in the mountain range of Mount Uludağ,Bursa,Turkey,annual net yield and N mineraliza-tion in the 0-5-and 5-20-cm soil layers were determined in a field incubation study over 1 *** locations were chosen from 1300 to 1600 m a.s.l.,and moisture content(%),pH,water-holding capacity(%),organic C,total N,and C/N ratio,and annual net mineral N yield of the soil and hydro-lyzed tannic acid and total phenolic compounds in litter were compared for these forest *** had the highest annual net Nmin yield(43.9±4.8 kg ha^(-1) a^(-1)),*** the lowest(30.5±4.2 kg ha^(-1) a^(-1)).Our findings show that in the oldest forest ecosystems,the seasonal soil moisture content and tree species play an essential role in N cycling and that hydrolyzed tannic acids and total phenolic compounds effectively control N *** acid and total phenolics in the litter were found to inhibit nitrification,but total phenolics were found to stimulate ammonification.

Distinct Electrical and Mechanical Responses of a Cu-10Fe Composite Prepared by Hot-Pressed Sintering and Post Treatment

A Cu-10wt%Fe composite was prepared through hot-pressed sintering,and the material was subsequently solution *** hot-pressed sintered and solution treated materials were rolled and *** precipitation behavior and performance changes were systematically studied by using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron *** contrast to the hot-pressed sintered specimen,the solution treatment significantly affects the thermal stability and properties of the Cu-10wt%Fe *** Cu-10wt%Fe composite was prepared after solid solution,cold rolling and aging at 773 K for 1 h,and it obtained excellent tensile strength of 494 MPa,uniform elongation of 16.3%,electrical conductivity of 51.1%IACS and softening temperature of 838 *** for the distinct difference in thermal stability and properties between hot-pressed sintered and solution treated specimens were *** findings provide a theoretical basis for designing high-performance Cu-based in-situ composites by post treatment.

Central venous catheterization(CVC) is an invasive procedure for administering fluids,nutrients,and drugs;monitoring central venous pressure;performing pulmonary artery catheterization;and placing transvenous pacemakers in intensive care units and all specialties,from anesthesia to emergency medicine,for the treatment of trauma and hemodynamically unstable pediatric and adult patients.[1,2]Complications have been observed in more than 15% of patients who underwent ***,infectious,and thrombotic complications have been reported in 5%–19%,5%–26%,and 2%–26% of patients,respectively.[3] Malposition,on the other hand,is common in subclavian catheter insertion and is usually associated with an initially misplaced guidewire.[4]

Precipitation of multi-type nano-quasicrystals in a Mg-zn-Y alloy

Mg-6zn-1Y(at.%)ribbons with strengthening precipitates of multi-type nanoquasicrystals were prepared by melt-spinning followed by aging *** evolution of the rapidly solidified ribbons during isothermal aging was comprehensively studied using various electron microscopy *** new kinds of decagonal quasicrystals were formed in aged ribbons,in addition to precipitation of nanometer icosahedral ***-resolution observations reveal that both decagonal quasicrystals can be modeled by quasiperiodic tiling with decagonal clusters of 2.5 nm in diameter,but overlap of neighboring clusters in both decagonal quasicrystals is different from the gummelt model observed in other quasicrystals.A shell composed of complex Laves Mg-zn domains was formed surrounding each decagonal quasicrystal precipitate upon prolonged *** addition,all kinds of nanoprecipitates exhibit excellent structure and size stability at 573 *** findings may have implications for not only fundamental studies about quasicrystals,but also microstructural manipulation of high-performance Mg alloys.

Identification of the optimal doping position of hetero-atoms in chalcogen-doped Fe-N-C catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction

The excellent oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)activity of Fe–N–C catalysts in acidic media makes them potential for low-cost proton exchange membrane fuel *** recent years,it has been shown that heteroatoms(B,O,S,P,Cl,F,etc.)can be used as electron-withdrawing groups to modulate the planar structure and electron distribution of the Fe–Nx active sites to achieve simultaneous improvement of catalytic activity and ***,the optimal location of the heteroatoms remains ***,taking chalcogen heteroatoms(S and Se)as an example,we control the doping positions and investigate their effect on the ORR performance of the Fe–N–C *** first coordination shell of the iron single atom is identified as the optimal doping *** optimized catalysts Fe–N_(3)Se_(1)/NC and Fe–N_(3)Se_(1)/NC demonstrate improved activity and stability in both half cells and fuel *** work provides insights into the enhancement mechanism of heteroatom doping in single-atom catalysts.

Clifford Deformations of Koszul Frobenius Algebras and Noncommutative Quadrics

A Clifford deformation of a Koszul Frobenius algebra E is a finite dimensional z_(2)-graded algebra E(θ),which corresponds to a noncommutative quadric hypersurface E^(!)/(z)for some central regular element z∈E_(2)^(!).It turns out that the bounded derived category D^(b)(gr_(z_(2))E(θ))is equivalent to the stable category of the maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over E^(!)/(z)provided that E!is *** a consequence,E^(!)/(z)is a noncommutative isolated singularity if and only if the corresponding Clifford deformation E(θ)is a semisimple z_(2)-graded *** preceding equivalence of triangulated categories also indicates that Clifford deformations of trivial extensions of a Koszul Frobenius algebra are related to Knörrer's periodicity theorem for quadric *** an application,we recover Knörrer's periodicity theorem without using matrix factorizations.
