Environmental stability is a major bottleneck of perovskite solar *** a handful of studies are investigating the effect of moisture on the structural degradation of the *** mostly rely on ex situ experiments and on completely degraded samples,which restrict the assessment on initial and final *** combining in situ X-ray diffraction under controlled 85%relative humidity,and live observations of the water-induced degradation using liquid-cell transmission electron microscopy,we reveal two competitive degradation paths leading on one hand to the decomposition of state-of-theart mixed cation/anion(Cs_(0.05)(MA_(0.17)FA_(0.83))_(0.95)Pb(Br_(0.17)I_(0.83))_(3)(CsMAFA)into PbI_(2) through a dissolution/recrystallization mechanism and,on the other hand,to a non-equilibrium phase segregation leading to CsPb_(2)Br_(5) and a Cesium-poor/iodide-rich Cs_(0.05)-x(MA_(0.17)FA_(0.83))_(0.95)Pb(Br_(0.17-2y)I_(0.83)+2y)_(3) *** degradation mechanism is corroborated at atomic-scale resolution through solid-state ^(1)H and ^(133)Cs nMR *** to moisture leads to a film containing important heterogeneities in terms of morphology,photoluminescence intensities,and *** results provide new insights and consensus that complex perovskite compositions,though very performant as champion devices,are comparatively metastable,a trait that limits the chances to achieve long-term stability.

Long-term operational stability remains the primary concern for perovskite solar cells. Consequently, there is a quest for searching for new compositions that enable stable and efficient perovskites. We report a new molecular-level interface engineering strategy using a multifunctional ligand that augments long-term operational and thermal stability by chemically modifying the formamidinium lead iodide rich photoactive layer. The surface derivatized solar cells exhibited high operational stability(maximum powering point tracking at 1 sun) with a stabilized T80(the time over which the device efficiency reduces to 80% of its initial value of post-burn-in) of ≈5950 h at 40 oC and stabilized efficiency over 23%. The origin of high device stability and performance is correlated to the nano/subnanoscale molecular level interactions between ligand and perovskite layer, which is corroborated by comprehensive multiscale characterization. Our results provide key insights into the modulation of the grain boundaries, local density of states, surface bandgap, and interfacial recombination. Chemical analysis of the aged devices showed that interface passivation inhibited ion migration and prevented photoinduced I2 release that irreversibly degrades the perovskite. This study shows that passivating ligands have the potential to overcome stability issues associated with the high performing hybrid perovskite compositions, thus allowing a step closer to achieving long-standing stability of perovskitebased solar cells.

Treatment of uveitis and scleritis patients in Malaysia

●AIM:To determine the common causes and visual outcome after treatment among uveitis and scleritis patients.●METHODS:This is a retrospective cohort observational *** consecutive clinical records of patients with newly diagnosed uveitis and scleritis over a 4-year period,from Jan.1,2017 to Dec.31,2020,were *** was collected at the presentation and included a follow-up period of one year.●RESULTS:A total of 288 patients were recruited during the study *** uveitis was the most common anatomical diagnosis(50.0%)followed by panuveitis(25.0%),scleritis(13.5%),posterior uveitis(6.9%),and intermediate uveitis(4.5%).Viral Herpes was the most common cause of infectious cases,while Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada(VKH)disease and human leucocyte antigen(HLA)B27 spondyloarthropathy were the leading causes of identifiable non-infectious *** of patients presented with unilateral,non-granulomatous uveitis with an absence of *** locations like posterior uveitis and panuveitis,and visual acuity worse than 3/60 at presentation were the factors associated with poor visual outcomes(Pnts had an identifiable cause for the uveitis and scleritis,with nearly equal distribution of infectious(n=85,29.5%)and noninfectious causes(n=84,29.2%).About 14.5%of patients were clinically blind at 1y of *** most common complication in our uveitis patients was glaucoma(47.5%),followed by cystoid macula oedema(18.9%)and cataract(13.9%).●COnCLUSIOn:Uveitis and scleritis are important causes of ocular *** are potentially blinding diseases which can have a good outcome if diagnosed and treated early.

This paper aims to create visible light driven ternary photocatalysts using zinc oxide(ZnO),cerium(IV)oxide(CeO_(2)),and carbon xerogel(CX) as constituent *** use of CeO_(2) is based on the creation of direct-Z-scheme heterojunctions with the ZnO and the consequent diminishing of charge recombination,whereas the carbon xerogel inclusion is predicted to minimize bandgap energy,decrease electro n-hole reco mbination,and boost specific surface *** re,the choice of the black-wattle tannin as a carbonaceous precursor was targeted at the development of an environmentally friendly and affordable *** existence of the hexagonal phase of zinc oxide and cubic structure of the cerium(IV) oxide in the ternary material was confirmed by X-ray diffractometry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,with the latter also suggesting chemical bonding between the ZnO and the CX due to the creation of zinc oxycarbide *** inclusion of the carbon xerogel provokes a significant modification in the morphology of the ternary material,resulting in an increased surface area and smaller particle *** CX/ZnO-CeO_(2) ternary composite obtains the highest photocatalytic efficiency among all the materials studied,degrading 100% of 4-chlorophenol under simulated sunlight and 68% under visible radiation,after 5 *** increased photocatalytic activity can be attributed to the formation of direct Z-scheme heterojunctions between the semiconductors,higher visible light response,and higher specific surface area,as evidenced by the results obtained by active radical scavenging,chronoamperometry,diffuse reflectance spectroscopy,and n_(2) adsorption-desorption isotherms.

BACKgROUnD Prediabetes is a well-established risk factor for major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events(MACCE).However,the relationship between prediabetes and MACCE in atrial fibrillation(AF)patients has not been extensively ***,this study aimed to establish a link between prediabetes and MACCE in AF *** To investigate a link between prediabetes and MACCE in AF *** We used the national Inpatient Sample(2019)and relevant ICD-10 CM codes to identify hospitalizations with AF and categorized them into groups with and without prediabetes,excluding *** primary outcome was MACCE(all-cause inpatient mortality,cardiac arrest including ventricular fibrillation,and stroke)in AF-related *** Of the 2965875 AF-related hospitalizations for MACCE,47505(1.6%)were among patients with *** prediabetes cohort was relatively younger(median 75 vs 78 years),and often consisted of males(56.3%vs 51.4%),blacks(9.8%vs 7.9%),Hispanics(7.3%vs 4.3%),and Asians(4.7%vs 1.6%)than the non-prediabetic cohort(Pgroup had significantly higher rates of hypertension,hyperlipidemia,smoking,obesity,drug abuse,prior myocardial infarction,peripheral vascular disease,and hyperthyroidism(all Pn discharged routinely(51.1%vs 41.1%),but more frequently required home health care(23.6%vs 21.0%)and had higher *** adjusting for baseline characteristics or comorbidities,the prediabetes cohort with AF admissions showed a higher rate and significantly higher odds of MACCE compared to the non-prediabetic cohort[18.6%vs 14.7%,odds ratio(OR)1.34,95%confidence interval 1.26-1.42,Pn subgroup analyses,males had a stronger association(aOR 1.43)compared to females(aOR 1.22),whereas on the race-wise comparison,Hispanics(aOR 1.43)and Asians(aOR 1.36)had a stronger association with MACCE with prediabetes vs whites(aOR 1.33)and blacks(aOR 1.21).COnCLUSIOn This population-

A low power, eco-friendly multipurpose thermoelectric refrigerator

There has been an immense endeavor to mitigate global warming in spite of which it has only been worse. This paper presents the design and imple- mentation of a low power and eco-friendly refrigeration system using the thermoelectric effect. The conventional refrigerators make use of complex mechanisms which involves synchronous operation of various units, namely the compressor, condensers, expansion valves, evaporator, refi＇igerant and so on. But a thermoelectric refrigerator exploits the principle of the Peltier effect, thus avoiding the utilization of these complex components. This even helps curb the release of harmful chlorofluorocarbons （CFCs） into the atmosphere which contributes to the increase in global temperature. Moreover, the temperature can be controlled and set to required values with the help of a microcontroller. Hence, this can be used both for domestic and commercial purposes. The unit does not eject any harmful gases. Therefore, the heat expelled from the unit can be tapped for heating utilities, making the use of this device versatile in its application. Thus this proposal aims not only at reducing the air pollutants by not contributing to it but also at reducing the power consumption.

Socio-Economic and Scientific Impact Created by Whitefly-Transmitted,Plant-Virus Disease Resistant Tomato Varieties in Southern India

Research carried out to assess the impact of open-pollinated Tomato leaf curl virus（ToLCV）-resistant tomatoes and hybrids on the livelihoods of resource-poor farmers in Southern India is described and *** high-yielding ToLCV-resistant tomato varieties were developed initially using conventional breeding and screening techniques involving inoculation by ToLCV-viruliferous whitefly,Bemisia *** 2003 and 2004,respectively,these varieties were released officially by the Karnataka State Seed Committee and the Indian Ministry of Agriculture through notification in the gazette of *** 2003 to 2005,eleven seed companies bought breeder seed of the ToLCV-resistant varieties and used them to begin breeding F1 hybrids from ***-economic studies carried out to assess the benefits obtained from growing the ToLCV-resistant varieties found that farmers could gain up to 10 times the profit by growing the ToLCV-resistant varieties compared to the pre-existing ToLCV-susceptible *** of ToLCV-resistant tomatoes was also associated with reduced pesticide *** income from tomato sales was prioritised by farmers to pay for children＇s education,better nutrition and *** a joint effort with the commercial seed sector in India,a promotional field day was organised in *** well as the three ToLCV-resistant varieties,62 ToLCV-resistant hybrid tomatoes were exhibited during a farmer-field day by 17 commercial seed companies and several public *** with ToLCV-resistance are now grown widely in South India and seeds of the three open-pollinated varieties have been distributed to more than 12 *** 2007,a conservative estimate of the financial-benefit to cost of the research ratio was already more than 837：1.

Improvement of Microstructure and Mechanical Behavior of gas Tungsten Arc Weldments of Alloy C-276 by Current Pulsing

Superalloy C-276 is known to be prone to hot cracking during fusion welding by gas Tungsten Arc method. Microsegregation occurring during cooling of fusion zone with consequent appearance of topologically close-packed phases P and IX has been held responsible for the observed hot cracking. The present work investigated the possibility of suppressing the microsegregation in weldments by resorting to current pulse. Weldments were made by continuous current gas tungsten arc welding and pulsed current gas tungsten arc welding using ERniCrMo-4 filler wire. The weld joints were studied with respect to microstructure, microsegregation, and mechanical properties. Optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were employed to study the microstructure. Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy was carried out to evaluate the extent of microsegregation. Tensile testing was carried out to determine the strength and ductility. The results show that the joints fabricated with pulsed current gave rise to narrower welds with practically no heat affected zone, a refined microstructure in the fusion zone, reduced microsegregation, and superior combination of mechanical properties.

Transient analysis of diffusive chemical reactive species for couple stress fluid flow over vertical cylinder

The unsteady natural convective couple stress fluid flow over a semi-infinite vertical cylinder is analyzed for the homogeneous first-order chemical reaction effect. The couple stress fluid flow model introduces the length dependent effect based on the material constant and dynamic viscosity. Also, it introduces the biharmonic operator in the navier-Stokes equations, which is absent in the case of newtonian fluids. The solution to the time-dependent non-linear and coupled governing equations is carried out with an unconditionally stable Crank-nicolson type of numerical schemes. numerical results for the transient flow variables, the average wall shear stress, the nusselt number, and the Sherwood number are shown graphically for both generative and destructive reactions. The time to reach the temporal maximum increases as the reaction constant K increases. The average values of the wall shear stress and the heat transfer rate decrease as K increases, while increase with the increase in the Sherwood number.
