Every day walking consists of frequent voluntary modifications in the gait pattern to negotiate *** spinal cord injury,stepping over an obstacle becomes *** over an obstacle requires sensorimotor transformations in several structures of the brain,including the parietal cortex,premotor cortex,and motor *** information and planning are transformed into motor commands,which are sent from the motor cortex to spinal neuronal circuits to alter limb trajectory,coordinate the limbs,and maintain *** spinal cord injury,bidirectional communication between the brain and spinal cord is disrupted and animals,including humans,fail to voluntarily modify limb trajectory to step over an ***,in this review,we discuss the neuromechanical control of stepping over an obstacle,why it fails after spinal cord injury,and how it recovers to a certain extent.

AIM: To evaluate the eff icacy and safety of endoscopic balloon dilation(EBD) performed for common bile duct(CBD) ***: From a computer database, we retrospectively analyzed the data relating to EBD performed in patients at the gastrointestinal unit of the Sandro Pertini Hospital of Rome(small center with low case volume) who underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) for CBD from January 1, 2010 to February 29, 2012. All patients had a proven diagnosis of CBD stones studied with echography, RMN cholangiography and, when necessary, with computed tomography of the abdomen(for example, in cases with pace-makers). Prophylactic therapies, with gabexate mesilate 24 h before the procedure and with an antibiotic(ceftriaxone 2 g) 1 h before, were administered in all patients. The duodenum was intubated with a side-viewing endoscope under deep sedation with intravenous midazolam and propofol. The patients were placed in the supine position in almost all cases. EBDof the ampulla was performed under endoscopic and f luoroscopic guidance with a balloon through the scope(Hercules, wireguided balloon, Cook Ireland Ltd. and CRE, Microvasive, Boston Scientific Co., Natick, MA, United States). RESULTS: A total of 14 patients(9 female, 5 male; mean age of 73 years; range 57-82 years) were enrolled in the study, in whom a total of 15 EBDs were performed. All patients underwent minor endoscopic sphincterotomy(ES) prior to the EBD. The size of balloon insuff lation depended on stone size and CBD dilation and this was performed until it reached 16 mm in diameter. EBD was performed under endoscopic and f luoroscopic guidance. The balloon was gradually f illed with diluted contrast agent and was maintained inf lated in position for 45 to 60 s before def lation and removal. The need for precutting the major papilla was 21.4%. In one patient(an 81-year-old), EBD was performed in a Billroth Ⅱ. Periampullary diverticula were found only in a 74-year-old female. T

Taxane efficacy in triple negative breast cancer(TNBC)is limited by insufficient tumor accumulation and severe off-target *** offer a unique opportunity to enhance the anti-cancer potency of this ***,1,000 nm×400 nm discoidal polymeric nanoconstructs(DPN)encapsulating docetaxel(DTXL)and the near infrared compound Iipid-Cy5 were *** were obtained by filling multiple times cylindrical wells in a poly(vinyl alcohol)template with a polymer mixture comprising poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLgA)and poly(ethylene glycol)diacrylate(PEg-DA)chains together with therapeutic and imaging *** resulting“multi-passage”DPN exhibited higher DTXL loading,Iipid-Cy5 stability,and stiffness as compared to the conventional"single-passage"*** microscopy confirmed that DTXL-DPN were not taken up by MDA-MB-231 cells but would rather sit next to the cell membrane and slowly release DTXL *** DPN had no toxicity on TNBC cells,whereas DTXL-DPN presented a cytotoxic potential comparable to free DTXL(IC_(50)=2.6 nM±1.0 nM vs.7.0 nM±1.09 nM at 72 h).In orthotopic murine models,DPN accumulated in TNBC more efficiently than *** only 2 mg/kg DTXL,intravenously administered every 2 days for a total of 13 treatments,DTXL-DPN induced tumor regression and were associated to an overall 80%survival rate as opposed to a 30%survival rate for free-DTXL,at 120 *** untreated mice succumbed before 90 ***,this data demonstrates that vascular confined multi-passage DPN,biomimicking the behavior of circulating platelets,can efficiently deliver chemotherapeutic molecules to malignant tissues and effectively treat orthotopic TNBC at minimal taxane doses.

Enabling the use of rationally designed thin films in technological devices is a recognized goal in materials science. However, constructing such thin films using highly ordered supramolecular architectures with well-controlled size and growth direction has remained an elusive target. Here, we introduce a layer-by- layer protocol to grow hybrid thin films of molecule-based magnetic conductors comprising arachidic acid and donor bis（ethylenedioxy）tetrathiafulvalene （BEDO-TTF） as the organic component and Cu/gd complexes as the inorganic component. The construction of layered hybrid thin films was achieved at ambient conditions by employing the Langmuir-Blodgett method, which provides good control over film thickness and packing of molecules in the monolayer. As demonstrated by X-ray diffraction, these films are crystalline with distinct organic and inorganic sublattices, where the BEDO-TTF molecular layer is interfaced with the inorganic layer. Due to the flexibility of the Langmuir-Blodgett deposition technique, this result indicates a route toward the preparation of well-ordered films with various functionalities, determined by the choice of the inorganic compound that is combined with the π-unit of BEDO-TFF. Moreover, the ability to deposit films on a variety of substrates establishes the potential for lower-cost device fabrication on inexpensive substrates.

There has recently been a dramatic renewal of interest in hadron spectroscopy and charm physics. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like XYZ states at BESⅢ and B factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related X(1835) meson state at BESⅢ, as well as the threshold measurements of charm mesons and charm baryons. We present a detailed survey of the important topics in tau-charm physics and hadron physics that can be further explored at BESⅢ during the remaining operation period of BEPCⅡ. This survey will help in the optimization of the data-taking plan over the coming years, and provides physics motivation for the possible upgrade of BEPCⅡ to higher luminosity.
