Poplar plantations are often established on nitrogen-poor land,and poplar growth and wood formation are constrained by low nitrogen(LN)***,the molecular mechanisms by which specific genes regulate wood formation in acclimation to LN availability remain ***,we report a previously unrecognized module,basic region/leucine zipper 55(PtobZIP55)–PtoMYB170,which regulates the wood formation of Populus tomentosa in acclimation to LN ***55 was highly expressed in poplar wood and induced by *** wood anatomical properties and increased lignification were detected in PtobZIP55-overexpressing poplars,whereas the opposite results were detected in PtobZIP55-knockout *** and transgenic analyses revealed that PtobZIP55 directly binds to the promoter sequence of PtoMYB170to activate its *** phenotypes of PtoMYB170 transgenic poplars were similar to those of PtobZIP55 transgenic poplars under LN *** molecular analyses revealed that PtoMYB170 directly bound the promoter sequences of lignin biosynthetic genes to activate their transcription to increase lignin concentrations in LN-treated poplar *** results suggest that PtobZIP55 activates PtoMYB170 transcription,which in turn positively regulates lignin biosynthetic genes,increasing lignin deposition in the wood of *** in the context of acclimation to LN availability.

Multilevel NAND Flash Memories with Superposition Modulation: A Non-Orthogonal Multi-User Communication Perspective

In this work, we propose a comprehensive theoretical framework for the multilevel NAND(NOT AND logic) flash memory, built upon the modified Student's t distribution where the distortion of the threshold voltage caused by the random telegraph noise, cell-to-cell interference and data retention noise are jointly considered. Based on the superposition modulation, we build a non-orthogonal multiuser communication model where a linear mapping is conducted between the verify voltages and binary antipodal symbols. Aimed at improving the storage efficiency, we propose an unequal amplitude mapping(UAM) solution by optimizing the weighting coefficients of verify voltages to intelligently adjust the width of each state. Moreover, the uniform storage efficiency region and sum storage efficiency of different labelings with various decoding schemes are discussed. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of our proposed UAM solution where an up to20.9% storage efficiency gain can be achieved compared to the current used benchmark scheme. In addition, analytical and simulation results also demonstrate that the successive cancellation decoding outperforms other decoding schemes for all labelings.

The ketogenic diet(KD) has attracted attention in recent years for its potential anticancer effects. KD is a dietary structure of high fat,moderate protein, and extremely low carbohydrate content. Originally introduced as a treatment for epilepsy, KD has been widely applied in weight loss programs and the management of metabolic diseases. Previous studies have shown that KD can potentially inhibit the growth and spread of cancer by limiting energy supply to tumor cells, thereby inhibiting tumor angiogenesis, reducing oxidative stress in normal cells, and affecting cancer cell signaling and other processes. Moreover, KD has been shown to influence T-cell-mediated immune responses and inflammation by modulating the gut microbiota, enhance the efficacy of standard cancer treatments, and mitigate the complications of chemotherapy. However, controversies and uncertainties remain regarding the specific mechanisms and clinical effects of KD as an adjunctive therapy for cancer. Therefore, this review summarizes the existing research and explores the intricate relationships between KD and cancer treatment.

Inference for High-Dimensional Streamed Longitudinal Data

With the advent of modern devices,such as smartphones and wearable devices,high-dimensional data are collected on many participants for a period of time or even in *** this type of data,dependencies between and within data batches exist because data are collected from the same individual over *** the framework of streamed data,individual historical data are not available due to the storage and computation *** is urgent to develop computationally efficient methods with statistical guarantees to analyze high-dimensional streamed data and make reliable inferences in *** addition,the homogeneity assumption on the model parameters may not be valid in practice over *** address the above issues,in this paper,we develop a new renewable debiased-lasso inference method for high-dimensional streamed data allowing dependences between and within data batches to exist and model parameters to gradually *** establish the large sample properties of the proposed estimators,including consistency and asymptotic *** numerical results,including simulations and real data analysis,show the superior performance of the proposed method.

Two New Nonconforming Quadrilateral Finite Element Methods for the Brinkman Problem

In this paper, two new efficient fully nonconforming polynomial finite element methods on arbitrary convex quadrilaterals are constructed to solve the Brinkman problem. Both elements have 12 local degrees of freedom and are uniformly first-order convergent. For the first element, we carefully design a shape function space of only degree four, which is convenient for practical computation. Meanwhile, the velocity solution obtained by our second element has O（h2） convergence order in the case of Darcy limit. These new elements can be regarded as modifications of a known element to effectively improve the computational efficiency, only the shape function space is properly changed. We verify our theoretical findings by numerical examples.

Biomass-derived heteroatom self-doped cathode catalysts has attracted considerable interest for electrochemical advanced oxidation processes(EAOPs)due to its high performance and sustainable ***,we illustrated the morphological fates of waste leaf-derived graphitic carbon(WLgC)produced from waste ginkgo leaves via pyrolysis temperature regulation and used as bifunctional cathode catalyst for simultaneous H_(2)O_(2) electrochemical generation and organic pollutant degradation,discovering S/N-self-doping shown to facilitate a synergistic effect on reactive oxygen species(ROS)*** the optimum temperature of 800℃,the WLgC exhibited a H_(2)O_(2) selectivity of 94.2%and tetracycline removal of 99.3%within 60 *** functional theory calculations and in-situ Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy verified that graphitic N was the critical site for H_(2)O_(2) *** pyridinic N and thiophene S were the main active sites responsible for OH generation,N vacancies were the active sites to produce ^(1)O_(2) from O_(2).The performance of the novel cathode for tetracycline degradation remains well under a wide pH range(3–11),maintaining excellent stability in 10 *** is also industrially applicable,achieving satisfactory performance treating in real water *** system facilitates both radical and non-radical degradation,offering valuable advances in the preparation of cost-effective and sustainable electrocatalysts and hold strong potentials in metal-free EAOPs for organic pollutant degradation.

Nickel-copper alloying arrays realizing efficient co-electrosynthesis of adipic acid and hydrogen

Constructing electrocatalytic overall reaction technology to couple the electrosynthesis of adipic acid with energy-saving hydrogen production is of significant for sustainable energy ***,the development of highly-active bifunctional electrocatalysts remains a ***,3D hierarchical nickel-copper alloying arrays with dendritic morphology are manufactured by a simple electrodeposition process,standing for the excellent bifunctional electrocatalyst towards the co-production of adipic acid and H2from cyclohexanone and *** membrane-free flow electrolyzer of Cu0.81Ni0.19/NF shows the superior electrooxidation performance of ketone-alcohol（KA） oil with high faradaic efficiencies of over 90% for adipic acid and H2,robust stability over 200 h as well as a high yield of 0.6 mmol h-1for adipic acid at 100 mA ***-situ spectroscopy indicates the Cu0.81Ni0.19alloy contributes to forming more active NiOOH species to involve in the conversion of cyclohexanone to adipic acid,while the proposed reaction pathway undergoes the 2-hydroxycyclohexanone and 2,7-oxepanedione ***,the theoretical calculations confirm that the optimal electronic interaction,boosted reaction kinetics as well as improved adsorption free energy of reaction intermediates,synergistically endows Cu0.81Ni0.19alloy with superior bifunctional performance.

BACKgROUND Microvascular invasion(MVI)is a critical prognostic factor for postoperative hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence,but the reliability of its current pathological diagnosis remains *** To evaluate the accuracy of current 7-point sampling methods and propose an optimal pathological protocol using whole-mount slide imaging(WSI)for better MVI *** We utilized 40 New Zealand white rabbits to establish VX2 liver tumor *** entire tumor-containing liver lobe was subsequently obtained,following which five different sampling protocols(A-E)were employed to evaluate the detection rate,accuracy,quantity,and distribution of MVI,with the aim of identifying the optimal sampling *** VX2 liver tumor models were successfully established in 37 rabbits,with an incidence of MVI of 81.1%(30/37).The detection rates[27%(10/37),43%(16/37),62%(23/37),68%(25/37),and 93%(14/15)]and quantity(15,36,107,125,and 395)of MVI increased significantly from protocols A to *** distribution of MVI showed fewer MVIs farther away from the tumor,but the percentage of MVI detected quantity gradually increased from 6.7%to 48.3%in the distant nonneoplastic liver tissue from protocols A to *** C was identified as the optimal sampling method by comparing them in *** sampling protocol of three consecutive interval WSIs at the tumor center(WSI3)was further screened to determine the optimal number of *** A(7-point sampling method)exhibited only 46%accuracy and a high false-negative rate of 67%.Notably,the WSI3 protocol improved the accuracy to 78%and decreased the false-negative rate to 27%.CONCLUSION The current 7-point sampling method has a high false-negative rate in MVI *** contrast,the WSI3 protocol provides a practical and effective approach to improve MVI diagnostic accuracy,which is crucial for hepatocellular carcinoma diagnosis and treatment planning.

Chlorophyll metabolism has evolved during plant *** strictly light-dependent nature of chlorophyll biosynthesis found in angiosperms requires tight coordination of chlorophyll biosynthesis and breakdown to achieve chlorophyll ***,the specific control mechanisms remain largely ***,we demonstrate that the scaffold protein BALANCE OF CHLOROPHYLL METABOLISM1(BCM1)has co-evolved with the carboxy-terminal domains of specific enzymes involved in chlorophyll biosynthesis and breakdown,including gENOMES UNCOUPLED 4(gUN4)and Mg-dechelatase 1(SgR1).We found that the land plant-specific interaction of BCM1 with the carboxy-terminal domains of gUN4 and SgR1 is indispensable for concurrent stimulation of chlorophyll biosynthesis and suppression of chlorophyll *** land plant-specific carboxy-terminal domain is essential for the membrane docking and turnover of gUN4,whereas it is key for proteolysis of *** importantly,we identified the metallopeptidase gravitropism-deficient and Yellow-green 1(EgY1)as the proteolytic machinery responsible for BCM1-mediated proteolysis of *** summary,this study reveals the BCM1-EgY1 module has evolved to maintain chlorophyll homeostasis by the post-translational control of the balance between chlorophyll biosynthesis and *** mechanism thus represents an evolutionary response to the metabolic demands imposed on plants in terrestrial environments.
