Every day walking consists of frequent voluntary modifications in the gait pattern to negotiate *** spinal cord injury,stepping over an obstacle becomes *** over an obstacle requires sensorimotor transformations in several structures of the brain,including the parietal cortex,premotor cortex,and motor *** information and planning are transformed into motor commands,which are sent from the motor cortex to spinal neuronal circuits to alter limb trajectory,coordinate the limbs,and maintain *** spinal cord injury,bidirectional communication between the brain and spinal cord is disrupted and animals,including humans,fail to voluntarily modify limb trajectory to step over an ***,in this review,we discuss the neuromechanical control of stepping over an obstacle,why it fails after spinal cord injury,and how it recovers to a certain extent.

This article explores the relevance of the demonstration project as a strategy for inspir-ing contemporary building practice in a process towards sustainable building and as a tool for influencing environmental values in the *** Log Cabin Project in Napier,New Zealand,is a demonstration facility for displaying sustainable build-ing and living practices situated on the campus of the Eastern Institute of Technology(EIT).The project is the refurbishment of an existing structure designed to showcase the sustainable use of material resources,energy and water conservation,and waste-water *** aim was to investigate the effect visiting a demonstration sustainable building might have on people’s knowledge of and attitude towards sus-tainability issues,and more specifically whether the methods for making a building more sustainable displayed in the building affected how people thought about their own living *** February 2016,five visitor groups,three of EIT students not previously connected with the project,one of EIT staff,and a local environment group were invited to view the project and surveys were conducted both before and after the visit with 126 participants completing both pre-and *** research found improved scores after the visit in six of the seven survey measures of environmental knowledge,motives,and intentions,especially in the case of student visitor *** results also indicated promising increases in envi-ronmental values and concerns for environmental quality after the *** between gender and sustainable action was not significant,however there was sig-nificant correlation between age and actions intended in the future where engagement was higher among young participant ***,although many visitors had previously engaged with at least one pro-environmental activity before visiting the project(90%),42% made at least one change as a result of the *** findings suggest the project wa

Different models are available to estimate species’niche and *** and correlative models have different underlying conceptual bases,thus generating different estimates of a species’niche and geographic *** models,which combining correlative and mechanistic approaches,are considered a promising strategy;however,no synthesis in the literature assessed their applicability for terrestrial vertebrates to allow best-choice model considering their strengths and ***,we provide a systematic review of studies that compared or integrated correlative and mechanistic models to estimate species’niche for terrestrial vertebrates under climate *** goal was to understand their conceptual,methodological,and performance differences,and the appli-cability of each *** studies we reviewed directly compared mechanistic and correlative predictions in terms of accuracy or estimated suitable area,however,without any quantitative analysis to support ***,many studies suggest that instead of comparing approaches,mechanistic and correlative methods should be integrated(hybrid models).However,we stress that the best approach is highly ***-deed,the quality and effectiveness of the prediction depends on the study’s objective,methodological design,and which type of species’niche and geographic distribution estimated are more appropriate to answer the study’s issue.

As part of efforts to reduce anthropogenic CO_(2) emissions by the steelmaking industry,this study investigated the direct reduction of industrially produced hematite pellets with H_(2) using the Doehlert experimental design to evaluate the effect of pellet diameter(10.5-16.5 mm),porosity(0.36-0.44),and temperature(600-1200℃).A strong interactive effect between temperature and pellet size was observed,indicating that these variables cannot be considered *** increase in temperature and decrease in pellet size considerably favor the reduction rate,while porosity did not show a relevant *** change in pellet size during the reduction was negligible,except at elevated temperatures due to crack formation.A considerable decrease in mechanical strength at high temperatures suggests a maximum process operating temperature of 900℃.good predictive capacity was achieved using the modified grain model to simulate the three consecutive non-catalytic gas-solid reactions,considering different pellet sizes and porosities,changes during the reaction from 800 to 900℃.However,for other temperatures,different mechanisms of structural modifications must be considered in the *** results represent significant contributions to the development of ore pellets for CO_(2)-free steelmaking technology.
