Are therapeutic diets an emerging additional choice in autism spectrum disorder management?

Background A nutritional background has been recognized in the pathophysiology of autism and a series of nutritional interventions have been considered as complementary therapeutic options. As available treatments and interventions are not effective in all individuals, new therapies could broaden management options for these patients. Our aim is to provide current literature data about the effect of therapeutic diets on autism spectrum disorder. Data sources A systematic review was conducted by two reviewers independently. Prospective clinical and preclinical stud-ies were considered. Results Therapeutic diets that have been used in children with autism include ketogenic and gluten/casein-free diet. We were able to identify 8 studies conducted in animal models of autism demonstrating a beneficial effect on neurophysiological and clinical parameters. Only 1 clinical study was found showing improvement in childhood autism rating scale after implemen-tation of ketogenic diet. With regard to gluten/casein-free diet, 4 clinical studies were totally found with 2 of them showing a favorable outcome in children with autism. Furthermore, a combination of gluten-free and modified ketogenic diet in a study had a positive effect on social affect scores. No serious adverse events have been reported. Conclusions Despite encouraging laboratory data, there is controversy about the real clinical effect of therapeutic diets in patients with autism. more research is needed to provide sounder scientific evidence.

Effect of Yttrium Addition on microstructural Characteristics and Superplastic Behavior of Friction Stir Processed ZK60 Alloy

As-extruded ZK60 and ZK60-Y magnesium alloy plates were successfully processed via friction stir processing （FSP） at a tool rotation rate of 1600 r/rain and a traverse speed of 200 mm/min. FSP resulted in the formation of equiaxed recrystallized microstructures with the average grain sizes of ,-8.5 and -4.7 μm in the ZK60 and ZK60-Y alloys, respectively. moreover, FSP broke and dispersed the mgZn2 and W-phase （mg3Zn3Y2） particles and dissolved mgZn2 phase in the FSP ZK60 alloy. With the addition of rare earth element yttrium （Y） into the ZK60 alloy, the ratio of the high angle grain boundaries （HAgBs） in the FSP alloys increased from 64% to 90%, and a certain amount of twins appeared in the FSP ZK60-Y alloy. The maximum elongation of 1200% and optimum strain rate of 3 X 10-3 s-1 achieved at 450 °C in the FSP ZK60-Y alloy were substantially higher than those of the FSP ZK60 alloy. This is attributed to the fine grains with high ratio of HAgBs and the distribution of a large number of dispersed second phase particles with high thermal stability in the FSP ZK60-Y alloy. grain boundary sliding was identified as the primary deformation mechanism in the FSP ZK60 and ZK60-Y alloys from the superplastic data analyses and surficial morphology observations.

An unusual cause of cholecystitis:Heterotopic pancreatic tissue in the gallbladder

gallbladder localization of heterotopic pancreas （HP） is uncommon and very rarely gives rise to symptoms. Herein we report a case of HP found in the gallbladder neck presented with signs and symptoms of cholecystitis. The patient was a 40-year old male, suffering from epigastric pain, abdominal fullness and fever. On physical examination, the right upper abdomen was tender with a positive murphy＇s sign. Ultrasonographic examination showed a hydropic gallbladder without stones and he underwent a cholecystectomy. Pathological examination revealed an intramural nodule （9 ram） in the neck region which is consisted of acini, ducts and islet cells of an aberrant pancreatic tissue. Although HP is encountered rarely in the gallbladder and is found incidentally during pathological studies, this case emphasizes that HP might cause symptoms and present clinically as cholecystitis. For this reason, in patients presenting with symptomatic gallbladder diseases, including cholecystitis without any other pathology, HP should be taken into consideration before it is diagnosed as ＂idiopathic＇：

Severe acute pancreatitis: Clinical course and management

Severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) develops in about 25% of patients with acute pancreatitis (AP). Severity of AP is linked to the presence of systemic organ dysfunctions and/or necrotizing pancreatitis pathomorphologically. Risk factors determining independently the outcome of SAP are early multi-organ failure, infection of necrosis and extended necrosis (> 50%). Up to one third of patients with necrotizing pancreatitis develop in the late course infection of necroses. morbidity of SAP is biphasic, in the first week strongly related to early and persistence of organ or multi-organ dysfunction. Clinical sepsis caused by infected necrosis leading to multi-organ failure syndrome (mOFS) occurs in the later course after the first week. To predict sepsis, mOFS or deaths in the first 48-72 h, the highest predictive accuracy has been objectified for procalcitonin and IL-8; the Sepsis- Related Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA)-score predicts the outcome in the first 48 h, and provides a daily assessment of treatment response with a high positive predictive value. Contrast-enhanced CT provides the highest diagnostic accuracy for necrotizing pancreatitis when performed after the first week of disease. Patients who suffer early organ dysfunctions or at risk of developing a severe disease require early intensive care treatment. Early vigorous intravenous fluid replacement is of foremost importance. The goal is to decrease the hematocrit or restore normal cardiocirculatory functions. Antibiotic prophylaxis has not been shown as an effective preventive treatment. Early enteral feeding is based on a high level of evidence, resulting in a reduction of local and systemic infection. Patients suffering infected necrosis causing clinical sepsis, pancreatic abscess or surgical acute abdomen are candidates for early intervention. Hospital mortality of SAP after interventional or surgical debridement has decreased in high volume centers to below 20%.

On the friction effects on rigid-body penetration in concrete and aluminium-alloy targets

The friction on the projectile shank is usually excluded in the penetration analysis due to the difficulties to measure the pressure and frictional *** this article,the frictional force on projectile shank is discussed indirectly through the comparison between experimental data and empirical/analytical formulas of the penetration depth for both concrete and aluminium-alloy *** is found that the effect of the frictional force along the projectile shank can be further discussed by the afore comparison and discussion and cannot be ignored because of the relatively large effecting area,especially for deep penetration of concrete and aluminium-alloy targets,where the friction will account for more proportion of penetration resistance.

Non-equilibrium carrier capture,recombination and annealing in thick insulators and their impact on radiation hardness

This paper describes an approach to prediction of the thick insulators＇ radiation response based on modeling of the charge yield, which is dependent on irradiation temperature, dose rate, and electric field magnitudes. Temperature behavior of the charge yield and degradation saturation due to the interface precursor depletion has been modeled and simulated. Competition between the time-dependent and true dose rate （ELDRS） effects has been simulated and discussed within a framework of the rate-equation-based mathematical model. It was shown that the precursor trap in the thick insulating oxides can be important at high dose rates. It was also shown that full filling of the shallow hole traps in the insulating oxide bulk can cause suppression of dose-rate sensitivity at relatively high dose rates, especially in thick insulators.

Similarity can reflect common laws in the mechanism of rigid-body *** this paper,the similarities in rigid-body penetration depth are demonstrated by three non-dimensional but physically meaningful quantities,i.e.,ρkinetic,I∗ln and N′*** three quantities represent the non-dimensional areal density of projectile kinetic energy,the effect of nose geometry,and the friction at the interactive cross section between projectile and target *** is shown that experimental data of rigid projectile penetration,from shallow to deep penetration,can be uniquely unified by these three similarity quantities and their ***,for ogival nose projectiles,their penetration capacities are dominated byρkinetic,which is consisted by non-dimensional effective length Leff and non-dimensional quantity Dpn=ρpv20AY which has the same form as Johnson’s damage *** the sacrifice of minor theoretical accuracy,the non-dimensional penetration depth P/d can be understood as directly controlled by Dpn,enhanced by projectile effective length Leff under a multiplication relation,and optimized by projectile nose geometry in the formation of I∗ln.

It is shown that a finite group g has four relative commutativity degrees if and only if g/Z（g） is a p-group of order p3 and g has no abelian maximal subgroups, or g/Z（g） is a Frobenius group with Frobenius kernel and complement isomorphic to Zp × Zp and Zq, respectively, and the Sylow p-subgroup of g is abelian, where p and q are distinct primes.

The impact of the environmental factors on the photosynthetic activity of common pine (Pinus sylvestris) in spring and in autumn in the region of Eastern Siberia

The taiga coniferous forests of the Siberian region are the main carbon sinks in the forest ***, the size of the carbon accumulation is determined by the photosynthetic productivity, which is strongly influenced by environmental factors. As a result,an assessment of the relationship between environmental factors and photosynthetic productivity makes it possible to calculate and even predict carbon sinks in coniferous forests at the regional level. However, at various stages of the vegetative period, the force of the connection between environmental conditions and the productivity of photosynthesis may change. In this research, correlations between the photosynthetic activity of Scots pine(Pinus sylvestris L.) with the environmental conditions were compared in spring and in autumn. In spring, close positive correlation of the maximum daily net photosynthesis was identified with only one environmental factor. For different years, correlations were for soil temperature(rs= 0.655,p = 0.00315) or available soil water supply(rs= 0.892,p = 0.0068). In autumn within different years, significant correlation was shown with two(temperature of air and soil; rs= 0.789 and 0.896, p = 0.00045 and 0.000006,respectively) and four factors: temperature of air(rs=0.749, p = 0.00129) and soil(rs= 0.84, p = 0.00000),available soil water supply(rs= 0.846, p = 0.00013) and irradiance(rs= 0.826, p = 0.000001). Photosynthetic activity has a weaker connection with changes in environmental factors in the spring, as compared to *** is explained by the multidirectional influence of environmental conditions on photosynthesis in this period and by the necessity of earlier photosynthesis onset, despite the unfavorable conditions. This data may be useful for predicting the flow of carbon in dependence on environmental factors in this region in spring and in autumn.
