Convergence in leaf phenology traits of two understorey ferns in the northwestern Iberian Peninsula

Aims Plants control leaf phenology to maximize annual photosynthetic *** ferns play an important ecological role in many habitats,especially forests,their phenology traits have been poorly ***,we investigate the leaf phenology of two ferns of the forest understorey and analyse the relationship between the timing of leaf emergence and spore dispersal and the effect of between-year climatic *** We compared the leafing and sporing phenologies of two ferns with very large(>2 m),overwintering leaves:Culcita macrocarpa and Woodwardia *** regularly monitored individuals of six popu-lations in the northwestern Iberian Peninsula during a 3-year *** studied eight phenology variables:leafing start date,leafing end date,leaf expansion time,number of new leaves per individual,between-individual synchrony,within-individual synchrony,percentage of fertile leaves and spore release *** also determined leaf mass per area(LmA)and gathered data on air temperature and *** findings Both *** and *** produce few leaves(~2 leaves individual−1 year−1),which expand simultaneously for a very long period(from midwinter to early summer),are retained for more than 1 year(37 and 19 months,respectively)and have relatively high *** traits,together with large leaf size,have also been found in seed plants from the forest understorey and represent adap-tations to this light-limited *** of both study ferns are simultaneously released in late winter,with little between-year variation caused by differences in air *** remarkable similarity between species suggests that the convergence in tim-ing of leaf emergence favours the convergence in timing of spore dispersal.

This paper reviews recent developments in nonlinear control technologies for shape memory alloy (SmA) actuators in robotics and their related applications. SmA possesses large hysteresis, low bandwidth, slow response, and non-linear behavior, which make them difficult to control. The fast response of the SmA actuator mostly depends upon, (1) type of controller, (2) rate of addition and removal of heat, and (3) shape or form of the actuator. Though linear controllers are more desirable than nonlinear ones, the review of literature shows that the results obtained using nonlinear controllers were far better than the former one. Therefore, more emphasis is made on the nonlinear control technologies taking into account the intelligent controllers. Various forms of SmA actuator along with different heating and cooling methods are presented in this review, followed by the nonlinear control methods and the control problems encountered by the researchers.

AIm:To evaluate the effect of autoclaved diet on the jejunum neurons of the myenteric plexus of rats during their ***:The experimental groups were made up of rats going through weaning whose mothers received either an autoclaved or a non-autoclaved diet during gestation and lactation,and rats that were fed the same diet as their mothers during the post-weaning *** order to measure the neurons'body profile and to quantify the number of neurons per area,preparations were stained by the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-diaphorase ***:No significant changes were observed in rats'body weight or in the number of neurons regardless of the diet used(P>0.05) .There was a decrease in the jejunum-ileum length in rats treated with an autoclaved diet(Pgnificant for animals undergoing *** addition,all observed factors showed significant differences when related to the age of the ***:The autoclaved diet did not alter the quantity of neurons,but increased their cell body area,suggesting changes similar to those observed in protein deficiency.

One of the major constraints in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is power consumption. In recent years, a lot of efforts have been put into the design of medium access control (mAC) protocols for WSN, in order to reduce energy consumption and enhance the network’s lifetime. In this paper, we surveyed some mAC protocols for WSN and compared their design tradeoffs. The goal is to provide a foundation for future mAC design, and to identify important design issues that allow us to improve the overall performances.

Routing is a key function inWireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)since it facilitates data transfer to base *** attacks have the potential to destroy and degrade the functionality ofWSNs.A trustworthy routing system is essential for routing security andWSN *** methods have been implemented to build trust between routing nodes,including the use of cryptographic methods and centralized ***,the majority of routing techniques are unworkable in reality due to the difficulty of properly identifying untrusted routing node *** the moment,there is no effective way to avoid malicious node *** a consequence of these concerns,this paper proposes a trusted routing technique that combines blockchain infrastructure,deep neural networks,and markov Decision Processes(mDPs)to improve the security and efficiency of WSN *** authenticate the transmission process,the suggested methodology makes use of a Proof of Authority(PoA)mechanism inside the blockchain *** validation group required for proofing is chosen using a deep learning approach that prioritizes each node’s *** are then utilized to determine the suitable next-hop as a forwarding node capable of securely transmitting *** to testing data,our routing system outperforms current routing algorithms in a 50%malicious node routing scenario.

New Find of Six-Spoke Sun Wheels from the Bronze Age in Scandinavia

Six-spoke Sun wheels have previously been described by us from mesopotamia, rock-carvings in Sweden and a golden sky dome from Sweden. The division of the Sun wheel into six segments refers to the six double-months of 60 days, and a full annual cycle of 360 days. In this paper we report the findings of a stone carving with 9 six-spoke Sun wheels and two solar eclipses found and depicted in 1840 in Denmark. The spokes in the nine Sun wheels are in N-S, E-W and NW-SE direction. The NW-SE line co-insides with the sunset at summer solstice and sunrise at winter solstice, which is in full agreement with the alignment of the famous stone-ship of Ales Stones in southernmost Sweden. The new stone carving in Denmark provides a confirmation of the deep knowledge in astronomy existing among the Bronze Age people, all from mesopotamia up the Scandinavia.

A simple poly(arginine)film-modified carbon nanotube paste electrode(PAmCNTPE)was prepared using cyclic voltam-metry(CV).The devised sensor was subjected to field-emission scanning electron microscope(FESEm)and CV *** sensing of 0.1 mm pyridoxine(PY)was upgraded at PAmCNTPE as compared to the bare carbon nanotube paste electrode(BCNTPE).The PAmCNTPE detects the 0.1 mm PY at a specific potential 0.727 V with a current response of 10.68μ*** the case of BCNTPE,the PY appeared at 0.798 V with a current 2.90μ*** proposed analytical method was optimized by prime parameters such as the impact scan rate,pH and PY *** optimal conditions,the concentration of PY is directly proportional to oxidation current(I_(pa))in linear range 2-10μm,and 10-80μm with a detection limit(LOD)of 9.6×10^(−7) m and limit of quantification(LOQ)of 3.21×10^(−6) *** simultaneous determination,concen-tration variation analysis of PY is performed with riboflavin(RF)and interference analysis in detecting PY also *** proposed sensor was effectively applied for the determination of PY in natural food supplement with excellent recovery.
