This article describes the influence of controlling in-flight hot particle characteristics on properties of plasma sprayed nanostructured yttria stabilized zirconia(YSZ)*** article depicts dependence of adhesion strength of as-sprayed nanostructured YSZ coatings on particle temperature,velocity and size of the splat prior to impact on the metallic *** temperature measurement is based on two-color pyrometry and particle velocities are measured from the length of the particle traces during known exposure *** microstructure and adhesion strength of as-sprayed nano-YSZ coatings were *** emission scanning electron microscopy results revealed that morphology of coating exhibits bimodal microstructure consisting of nano-zones reinforced in the matrix of fully melted *** coating adhesion strength is noticed to be greatly affected by the melting state of *** adhesion strength of 42.39 MPa has been experimentally found out by selecting optimum levels of particle temperature and *** enhanced bond strength of nano-YSZ coating may be attributed to higher interfacial toughness due to cracks being interrupted by adherent nano-zones.

Improved Fracture Toughness of Cryorolled and Room Temperature Rolled 6082 Al Alloys

In the present work, 6082 Al alloy has been rolled to 40% and 70% thickness reductions at the cryogenic and room temperatures for the improvement in mechanical and fracture toughness properties. All cryorolled samples are subjected to aging at different temperatures, i.e., 140, 160, and 190 ℃ to improve the strength, ductility, and fracture toughness. The microstructures of the cryorolled （CR） and room temperature rolled （RTR） alloy after 40% and 70% thickness reductions are characterized by FE-SEM to reveal the modes of failure. The results show that the starting bulk Al alloy specimen is fractured in total ductile manner, consisting of well-developed dimples over the entire surface. The mechanical properties and fracture toughness of the 70% CR alloy are found better than 70% RTR alloy due to higher dislocations density and formation of sub-grain structures in the CR alloy.

The aim of the present study was to determine changes in blood electrolytes(calcium and phosphate)in the freshwater catfish Heteropneustes fossilis following short-and long-term exposure to latex of Euphorbia *** investigate the effects of short-term exposure,fish were exposed to 80%of the 96-h LC_(50) of *** latex(2.47 mg/L)for 96 *** assess the effects of long-term exposure,fish were exposed to 20%of the 96-h LC_(50) of *** latex(0.618 mg/L)for 28 *** were killed after 24,48,72 and 96 h(short-term experiments)or after 7,14,21 and 28 days(long-term experiments).Blood samples were collected and sera were analyzed to determine calcium and inorganic phosphate *** calcium levels decreased progressively in *** after 48 h exposure to *** *** decrease persisted until the end of the experiment(96 h).Serum inorganic phosphate levels in treated fish decreased progressively from 72 *** 7 days exposure to *** latex,decreased serum calcium levels were noted in *** that persisted until the end of the *** phosphate levels were decreased in *** on days 21 and 28 of exposure to *** *** is concluded that *** latex alters the blood electrolyte content of the *** change in these electrolytes,particularly calcium levels,may cause disturbances in the normal vital physiological functions of the fish,its growth rate,and even its ability to survive in nature.

This study investigates the effects of light and temperature on the surface water diatoms and chloro- phytes, phytoplankton in the Indian Ocean sector of the Southern Ocean （SO） during the austral summer of 1998- 2014. Significant longitudinal variations in hydrographic and biological parameters were observed at the Sub tropical front （STF）, Sub Antarctic front （SAF） and Polar front （PF） along 56°E-58°E. The concentrations of total surface chlorophyll a （Chl a）, diatoms, and chlorophytes measured by the National Aeronautics Space Agency （NASA） estimated by the Sea-Viewing Wide Field-of- View Sensors （SeaWiFS）, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectro Radiometer （MODIS）, and the NASA Ocean Biological Model （NOBM） were used in the study. Variations in the concentration of total Chl a was remarkable amongst the fronts during the study period. The contribution of diatoms to the total concentration of surface Chl a increased towards south from the STF to the PF while it decreased in the case of chlorophytes. The maximum photosynthetically active radiation （PAR） was observed at the STF and it progressively decreased to the PF through the SAF. At the PF region the contribution of diatoms to the total Chl a biomass was ≥80%. On the other hand, the chlorophytes showed a contrary distribution pattern with ≥ 70% of the total Chl a biomass recorded at the STF which gradually decreased towards the PF, mainly attributed to the temperate adaptation. This clearly reveals that the trend of diatoms increased at the STF and decreased at the SAF and the PF. Further, the trend of chlorophytes was increased at the STF, SAF and PF with a shift in the community in the frontal system of the Indian Ocean sector of the SO.

Plantation-grown progenies of Melia composita *** studied for variability in several physical properties： density,radial and tangential shrinkage,longitudinal permeability of heartwood and ***,flat-sawn planks from each of the progeny were subjected to a quick-drying test for determination of kilndrying *** mean density of the species was 0.39 g cm^（-3） and the wood may be categorized as light *** radial shrinkage（%） for the species was 2.8% with progeny-wise variation in radial shrinkage from 1.56 to 4.11%.Mean tangential shrinkage（%） for the species was 5.54% with progeny-wise variation in tangential shrinkage from 3.69 to 7.71%.The resultant tangentialradial shrinkage ratio was 1.98（less than two）,which suggests that the wood is relatively stable with respect to drying *** sapwood and heartwood longitudinal permeability of the species were 3.38 and 2.02 Darcy,*** longitudinal permeability of sapwood and heartwood indicate better drying and preservative properties of the *** quick-drying test method suggests that the species is less susceptible to drying *** the test,only moderate checks and cracks were observed.A tentative kiln-drying schedule was recommended based on these results.

Season and concentration of sterilizing agents play a significant role for establishment of aseptic in vitro shoot cultures and sprouting of nodal explants from field growing culms of bamboo species. In the present investigation the nodal segment explants of Bambusa tulda Roxb collected in different seasons and treated with various concentrations of HgC12 showed significant variation in aseptic culture establishment and bud break. The rainy season （July-August） recorded with highest of 78% aseptic culture establishment whereas autumn recorded with lowest 46%. Summer and winter seasons emerged to be the best period, registering 〉 60% in vitro bud break. On the other hand, the autumn season had the lowest value for bud break, i.e. 42%. Among different doses of sterilizing agent tried, HgC12 0.1% found to be suitable for maximum aseptic culture establishment （66%） as well as bud break （59%）. However, among the interactions, summer season and the dose of 0.1% HgC12 exhibited maximum of 73% response for both aseptic culture establishment and bud break. MS medium （liquid） enriched with 5.0 μM BA ＋5.0 μM kn [kinetin （N6-Furfuryladenine）] with additional supplementation of 100 μM glutamine ＋ 0.1 μM IAA supported a maximum in vitro shoot multiplication of 4.75 fold. The proliferated shoots were successfully rooted on MS medium （liquid） supplemented 40 μM coumarin. The plantlets transferred to the polythene bags showed 98% survival.

The utilization of poly （2-hydroxyethylmetha- crylate） grafted agar （Ag-g-P（HEMA）） as a matrix for the controlled release of 5-aminosalicylic acid was investi- gated. grafted copolymers of 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate （HEMA） monomers on agar were synthesized by micro- wave assisted method. In vitro drug release studies were performed at pH values of 2 and 7 in order to investigate the possibility of pH triggered release for colon targeted drug delivery. Further, the percent grafting vs. tso （the time taken for release of 50% of the enclosed drug） value was studied and the results indicate that it may be possible to develop a programmable drug release matrix based on grafted polysaccharide. Ag-g-P（HEMA） appears to be a useful matrix for controlled release.
