A method based on micellar liquid chromatography has been developed to simultaneously monitor four pesticides largely post-harvest applied to citrus：thiabendazole,pyrimethanil,o-phenylphenol and *** samples were filtered and directly injected without other treatment,thus avoiding extraction *** composition of the mobile phase was optimized using a chemometrical approach to achieve and excellent resolution to 0.07 mol/L SDS/5%,V/V 1-pentanol buffered at p H *** phase run through a C18 column at 1 m L/min at room *** detection was performing by UV–Visible absorbance using a wavelength program：0–10 min,305 nm（for thiabendazole）;10–12;265 nm（for pyrimethanil）and 12–18,220 nm（o-phenylphenol and imazalil）.The developed method was validated following the guidelines of the US Environmental Protection Agency in terms of：quantitation range,（0.5–4 to 15μg/m L）,linearity（r2〉0.9995）,sensitivity（LOD,0.18–1.4μg/m L）,precision（〈9.2%）,trueness（93.9%–103.7%）,and ruggedness（〈9.9%）.It was found that the fungicides remain up to eight days in surface water at outdoor *** method was used to screen the presence of the analytes in several waste water samples,and was proved to be useful in routine analysis.

Objective:To identify the possible anliplasmodial compounds from Achyranlhes aspera(A. aspera).Acalypha indica(***),Jatropha glandulifera(***)and Phyllanlhus amarus(***).Methods:The ***,***,*** and *** were collected along Palk Strait and the extraction was carried out in *** filter sterilized extracts(100,50,25,12.5,6.25 and 3.125μg/mL) of leaf,stem,root and flower extracts of A aspera,A. indica,*** and *** were tested for anliplasmodial activity against Plasnuxlium *** potential extracts were also tested for their phytochemical ***: Of the selected plants species parts,the stem extract of *** showed excellent antiplasmodial activity(IC_(50)=43.81μg/mL) followed by stem extract of ***(IC_(50)= 49.14μg/mL).The stem extract of ***,leaf and root extracts of ***,leaf,root and seed extracts of J. glanduUfera and leaf and stem extracts of *** showed IC_(50),values between 50 and 100 μg/ *** analysis revealed that,significant antiplasmodial activity(Pgical changes in erythrocytes by the elhanolic extract of all the tested plant *** in vitro antiplasmodial activity might be due to the presence of alkaloids,glycosides,***,saponins,triterpenoids,proteins, and lannins in the elhanolic extracts of tested ***:The elhanolic stem extracts of *** and *** possess lead compounds for the development of antiplasmodial drugs.

This paper presents an assessment of the extent and conditions under which private financing can be a realistic approach for sanitation in slums. It is based on a cross-sectional study comparing two slum communities in East Africa, where 250 households from Bwaise III in Kampala, Uganda and 379 households from Temeke in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania were interviewed in 2010. Also, 10 key-informant interviews and 8 focus group discussions were conducted in addition to field observations. Findings show that majority (85%) of households used unimproved, private-shared pit latrines. These privately owned latrines had many structural shortfalls besides poor operation and maintenance while the public latrines provided by third-party were structurally sound but were under-utilized in residential slum neighorhoods. This is attributed to the presence free or at least cheaper alternatives which the community members preferred instead of paying per-visit user-fees. For the few who were willing to pay, willingness to pay was positively associated with the presence of a facility User committee and having been sensitized. In this context, a combination of these factors made cost recovery as well as operation and maintenance very minimal. The poor status of privately owned shared pit latrines matched the limited income levels of households. Similarly, cost recovery for public facilities was dependent on the number of users who were willing to pay: the more the users, the more the cost recovery. A combination of private and public financing is thus necessary to fund different but complementary aspects of sanitation in slums.

In most plants, a large fraction of photo-assimilated carbon is stored in the chloroplasts during the day as starch and remobilized during the subsequent night to support metabolism. Mutations blocking either starch synthesis or starch breakdown in Arabidopsis thaliana reduce plant growth. Maltose is the major product of starch breakdown exported from the chloroplast at night. The maltose excess 1 mutant （mex1）, which lacks the chloroplast envelope maltose transporter, accumulates high levels of maltose and starch in chloroplasts and develops a distinctive but previously unexplained chlorotic phenotype as leaves mature. The introduction of additional mutations that prevent starch synthesis, or that block maltose production from starch, also prevent chlorosis of mex1. In contrast, introduction of mutations in disproportionating enzyme （DPE1） results in the accumulation of maltotriose in addition to maltose, and greatly increases chlorosis. These data suggest a link between maltose accumulation and chloroplast homeostasis. Microscopic analyses show that the mesophyll cells in chlorotic mex1 leaves have fewer than half the number of chloroplasts than wild-type cells. Transmission electron microscopy reveals autophagy-like chloroplast degradation in both mex1 and the dpe1/mex1 double mutant. Microarray analyses reveal substantial reprogramming of metabolic and cellular processes, suggesting that organellar protein turnover is increased in mex1, though leaf senescence and senescence-related chlorophyll catabolism are not induced. We propose that the accumulation of maltose and malto-oligosaccharides causes chloroplast dysfunction, which may by signaled via a form of retrograde signaling and trigger chloroplast degradation.

Theoretical mean wave resistance and regional division of the energy of single-layer flow over topogra-phy is studied at the near-resonant region in the weakly nonlinear, long wave limit. The theoretical meanwave resistance is determined in terms of the 1st and 2nd conservation laws of the fKdV equation. It isproved by the asymptotic mean method that the theoretical mean wave resistance depends only on the intensityand moving velocity of the topography. The theoretical results of this paper are in good agreement withnumerical calculations. Comparisons between the theoretical and numerical results showed that the theoryof the present paper holds for any small compact topography.

Objective: Secondary metabolites and polyphenolic compounds from medicinal plants have been demonstrated to have multiple biological functions with promising research and development prospects. This study examined the effect of β-stigmasterol(with ergosterol) and xylopic acid isolated from Anchomanes difformis on liver mitochondrial permeability transition pore(mPTP).Methods: The compounds were isolated by vacuum liquid chromatography. Mitochondrial swelling was assessed as changes in absorbance under succinate-energized ***:1H and13C NMR spectroscopic elucidation of the isolates affirmed the presence of β-stigmasterol with ergosterol(1:0.3) and xylopic acid. The isolates reversed the increase in lipid peroxidation and inhibited the opening of mitochondrial permeability transition pores caused by calcium and *** inhibition of m PTP offers a promising therapeutic target for the treatment of mitochondrial-associated ***: Reduction in the activity of calcium ATPase and the expression of Caspase-3 and-9 were observed, suggesting that they could play a role in protecting physicochemical properties of membrane bilayers from free radical-induced severe cellular damage and be useful in the management of diseases where much apoptosis occurs.
