Spatial and temporal variation in interactions between humming.i.ds and plants have often been examined, and humming.i.ds and insects are known to indirectly interact in networks of nectar plants. in a highland temperate forest in Hidalgo, Mexico some oak trees were heavily infested by honeydew-producing insects （family Margarodidae, tribe Xylococcini, genus Strigmacoccus） and the honeydew was consumed by humming.i.ds. Here using survival analysis we investigate how the honey- dew produced by dense populations of these margarodids is temporally and spatially partitioned by humming.i.ds. We also measured the availability and quality of honeydew exudates, and then we recorded the time until a bird visited and used such re- sources. Four humming.i.d species consumed this resource （Atthis eloisa, Hylocharis leucotis, Colibri thalassinus and Eugenes fulgens）. data from 294 hours of observation on seven focal trees suggested temporal and spatial segregation among visiting birds according to body size and territorial behavior during the most honeydew-limited time. Humming.i.d species differed in the dally times they foraged, as well as in the location where honeydew-producing insects were visited on the trees. Temporal and spatial segregation among humming.i.d species is interpreted as an adaptation to reduce the risk of aggressive encounters. This may facilitate multispecies coexistence and allow these birds to exploit honeydew more effectively

The as-cast Mg-3Zn-0.4Ca alloy shows a great potential to be used in biomedical applications due to its composition,mechanical properties and *** and Ca appear naturally in the organism accomplishing vital *** alloy consists of an a-Mg matrix and a eutectic composed of *** eutectic product enhances the mechanical properties of the studied alloy,causing strengthening and providing superior hardness *** this alloy,cracks initiate at the intermetallic compounds and progress through the matrix because of the open network formed by the *** to the corrosion results,the eutectic product presents a noble potential compared to the a-Mg *** this reason,the corrosion progresses preferentially through the matrix,avoiding the(α-Mg+Ca2Mg6Zri3)eutectic product,when the alloy is in direct contact to Hank's solution.

The effect of heat treatment on the mechanical and biocorrosion behaviour of the Mg-1 wt.%Zn-1 wt.%Ca(ZX11)and Mg-3 wt.%Zn-0.4 wt.%Ca(ZX30)alloys was *** this purpose,three-point bending tests as well as electrochemical and immersion tests in Hank’s solution were performed on both alloys in four different thermal conditions:as-cast,solution-treated,peak-aged and *** examinations revealed that the as-cast ZX11 and ZX30 alloys exhibit a microstructure composed ofα-Mg grains separated by large Mg_(2)Ca and Ca_(2)Mg_(6)Zn_(3) particles and by large Ca_(2)Mg_(6)Zn_(3) particles,*** solution treatment,the Ca_(2)Mg_(6)Zn_(3) precipitates at the grain boundaries(gBs)are fully dissolved in the ZX11 alloy,but mainly redistributed to form a more connected configuration in the ZX30 alloy,showing a poor age-hardening ***,after solution-treatment,galvanic corrosion and corrosion rate decreases in the former,but increases in the *** peak-aged condition displays the highest corrosion rate for both alloys,maybe due to an excessive number density of fine Ca_(2)Mg_(6)Zn_(3) particles acting as cathodic ***,the over-aged condition shows the lowest corrosion rate for the ZX11 alloy and a very similar one to that of the as-cast sample for the ZX30 *** ZX11 alloy shows generally better biocorrosion behaviour than the ZX30 alloy to its lower content in the Ca_(2)Mg_(6)Zn_(3) phase and thus reduced galvanic *** Mg_(2)Ca phase present in the studied ZX11 alloy has been proved to exhibit an increased corrosion potential,which has been related to an observed enrichment with Zn.

The agriculture in Biskra,southeastern Algeria,is based on traditional practices and characterized by small irrigated *** the last decades,the increasing demand in water as well as the scarcity of rainfall has forced many farmers to use groundwater of low quality to maintain the profitability of their ***,this practice seems to be the main harmful factor for soil quality in the region since it is responsible for the salinization of the irrigated *** to assess the impact of this phenomenon,the soils of the irrigated perimeter of El ghrous-a representative rural community located in the west of Biskra-have been analyzed.A set of 82 soil samples was collected from top and subsoil(0-15 and15-35 cm respectively),on which the following physicochemical analyzes were performed:Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+),K^(+),Na^(+),Cl^(-),SO_(4)^(2-),HCO_(3)^(-),NO_(3)^(-),pH,electrical conductivity(EC)and sodium adsorption ratio.A Principal Component Analysis was performed to individuate the geochemical processes that influenced significantly the evolution of soil salinity and its *** results showed a calcium sulfate(CaSO_(4))facies with a high risk of salinity and a low to medium risk of *** calcite residual alkalinity and generalized residual alkalinity decreased as the solutions became more *** of the samples were oversaturated in carbonate minerals(aragonite,calcite,and dolomite)and under saturated in evaporitic minerals(anhydrite,gypsum,and halite).Finally,two multiple linear regressions(using cations and anions as independent variables)have been proposed to quantify soil *** equations,with an accuracy of 85%,can represent a time and money-saving tool for managers and farmers to estimate the EC,in comparison to the traditional estimation methods.

Land degradation affects extensive drylands around the *** to long-term misuse,the israeli Sde Zin dryland site has faced severe *** study objective was to assess the feasibility of passive restoration in recovering the *** study was conducted in four land-units along a preservation-degradation continuum:(1)an area that has not faced anthropogenic disturbances(Ecological land);(2)an area that was proclaimed as a national park in the 1970s(Rehabilitation);(3)an area that was prone,until recently,to moderate anthropogenic pressures(Triangle);and(4)a dirt road that was subjected to long-term off-road traffic(dirtroad).Soil was sampled and analyzed for its *** soil physical quality followed the trend of Ecological land>Rehabilitation>Triangle>***,high soil salinity in the latter three land-units is attributed to long-term erosional processes that exposed the underlying salic *** and shrubby vegetation cover was also *** herbaceous vegetation cover followed the trend of Ecological land(86.4%)>Rehabilitation(40.3%)>Triangle(26.2%)>dirtroad(2.1%),while the shrubby cover was 2.8%in the Ecological land-unit,and practically zero in the other *** seems that despite the effectiveness of passive restoration in recovering the soil’s physical properties,the recovery of vegetation is limited by the severe soil salinity.

Plants contain various factors that transiently interact with subunits or intermediates of the thylakoid multiprotein complexes, promoting their stable association and integration. Hence, assembly factors are essential for chloroplast development and the transition from heterotrophic to phototrophic growth. Snowy cotyledon 2 （SCO2） is a dNAJ-like protein involved in thylakoid membrane biogenesis and interacts with the light-harvesting chlorophyll-binding protein LHCBi. in Arabidopsis thaliana, SCO2 function was previ- ously reported to be restricted to cotyledons. Here we show that disruption of SC02 in Lotus japonicus results not only in paler cotyledons but also in variegated true leaves. Furthermore, smaller and pale- green true leaves can also be observed in A. thaliana sco2 （atsco2） mutants under short-day conditions. in both species, SCO2 is required for proper accumulation of PSli-LHCll complexes. in contrast to other variegated mutants, inhibition of chloroplastic translation strongly affects L. japonicus sco2 mutant devel- opment and fails to suppress their variegated phenotype. Moreover, inactivation of the suppressor of variegation AtClpR1 in the atsco2 background results in an additive double-mutant phenotype with variegated true leaves. Taken together, our results indicate that SCO2 plays a distinct role in PSll assembly or repair and constitutes a novel factor involved in leaf variegation.

Over the last years, the first person methodologies have been transformed into a valid and significant alternative, different from the classic quantitative and qualitative methods. in contrast with other perspectives, the first person approach considers that the subject is able to observe and give a direct account of his subjective process. However, this process, far from being spontaneous and automatic, requires a phenomenological training. The article discusses the notion of "the first person" starting with the works of Varela and Husserl"s Phenomenology. We will review the principal procedures of this methodology and we will describe examples of this kind of research in the field of psychopathology, highlighting the contributions that this approach may provide in order to close the gap between practice and research.

in the search for new materials with applicable magnetic properties in spintronic devices,the aim of this work is to report the synthesis of the lanthanide ferrocobaltite La_(2)CoFeO_(6) using the modified Pechini route;the experimental study of structural,morphological and magnetic properties,and the analysis of the electronic structure and bands are obtained in the framework of the density Functional *** refinement of experimental X-ray diffraction patterns revealed the crystallization of this oxide material in a perovskite-like monoclinic structure,space group P2_(1)/n(#14).Scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy images revealed that the surface morphology is essentially polycrystalline,with mean grain sizes between 177 and 188 *** dispersive X-ray spectroscopy suggests that the material obtained contains La,Fe,Co and O in the stoichiometric proportions expected by up to 98%.The magnetic susceptibility curves as a function of temperature indicated that the material is ordered ferromagnetically,showing strong irreversibility effects due to the disorder of the Fe and Co cations in the three crystallographic directions of the structure and to the strong distortions in the FeO_(6) and CoO_(6) *** hysteresis curves confirmed the ferromagnetic character of the material for all temperatures evaluated,up to room temperature.i-V response curves revealed a semiconductor-like behavior with a figure of merit exponent 1.53 of the varistor *** ferromagnetic semiconductor behavior suggests the potential applicability of the material in spintronic technological devices.
