This paper investigates the effects of the physical properties on the microstructure and weldability of explosive welding by joining two metals with a significant contrast in thermophysical properties:stainless steel and *** welds between stainless steel and copper were obtained,and the interfacial morphology was wavy,regardless of the position of the *** weldability of dissimilar pairs was found to be more dependent on the relationship between the physical properties of the base materials than on the absolute value of the material *** there is a significant difference in thermal conductivity between the flyer and the base plate,together with a material with a low melting temperature,the weldability of the pair is often *** relative position of the plates affects the interfacial microstructure even when similar morphologies are *** the metallic pairs studied,the wave size was bigger for the configuration in which the ratio between the density of the flyer and the density of the base plate is *** same phenomenon was observed for the impedance:bigger waves were found for a smaller ratio between the impedance of the flyer and the impedance of the base plate.

Peripheral nerve injuries induce a severe motor and sensory deficit. since the availability of autologous nerve transplants for nerve repair is very limited, alternative treatment strategies are sought, including the use of tubular nerve guidance conduits(tNgCs). however, the use of tNgCs results in poor functional recovery and central necrosis of the regenerating tissue, which limits their application to short nerve lesion defects(typically shorter than 3 cm). given the importance of vascularization in nerve regeneration, we hypothesized that enabling the growth of blood vessels from the surrounding tissue into the regenerating nerve within the tNgC would help eliminate necrotic processes and lead to improved regeneration. In this study, we reported the application of macroscopic holes into the tubular walls of silk-based tNgCs and compared the various features of these improved silk^(+) tNgCs with the tubes without holes(silk^(–) tNgCs) and autologous nerve transplants in an 8-mm sciatic nerve defect in rats. Using a combination of micro-computed tomography and histological analyses, we were able to prove that the use of silk^(+) tNgCs induced the growth of blood vessels from the adjacent tissue to the intraluminal neovascular formation. A significantly higher number of blood vessels in the silk^(+) group was found compared with autologous nerve transplants and silk^(–), accompanied by improved axon regeneration at the distal coaptation point compared with the silk^(–) tNgCs at 7 weeks postoperatively. In the 15-mm(critical size) sciatic nerve defect model, we again observed a distinct ingrowth of blood vessels through the tubular walls of silk^(+) tNgCs, but without improved functional recovery at 12 weeks postoperatively. Our data proves that macroporous tNgCs increase the vascular supply of regenerating nerves and facilitate improved axonal regeneration in a short-defect model but not in a critical-size defect model. This paper investigates the free vibration and transient response of interconnected structures including double curved beams and intermediate straight beams,which are all constructed from functionally graded porous(fgP) materials. The strain potential and kinetic energies of each beam along with the work done by the external force are calculated. Additionally, a higher-order beam element is introduced to derive stiffness and mass matrices, along with the force vector. The curved and straight beams are discretized, and their assembled stiffness, mass matrices, and force vectors, are *** conditions at the joints are used to derive the total matrices of the entire structure. subsequently, the natural frequencies and transient response of the system are determined. The accuracy of the mathematical model and the self-developed computer program is validated through the comparison of the obtained results with those of the existing literature and commercial software ANsYs, demonstrating excellent ***, a comprehensive study is conducted to investigate the effects of various parameters on the free vibration and transient response of the considered structure.

Associations of sense of coherence with psychological distress and quality of life in inflammatory bowel disease

AIM:To investigate the relationship between sense of coherence,psychological distress and health related quality of life in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).METhODs:This cross-sectional study enrolled a consecutive sample of 147 IBD(aged 45.1 ± 14.1 years; 57.1% female) patients recruited from a tertiary gastroenterology ***-four participants met diagnostic criteria for Crohn's disease,while eightythree patients had ulcerative ***-demographic data(education,age,race,gender,gross monthly income and marital status),disease-related variables(illness activity,relapse rate in past 2 years,history of surgery and time since diagnosis),sense of coherence(Antonovsky's sOC scale),psychological distress symptoms(hospital Anxiety and Depression scale) and health-related quality of life(hRQo l; WhOQOlBref) were *** multiple regression analyses were performed to identify factors that are independently associated with psychological distress and hRQo l in patients with IBD and to provide indications for possible moderating or mediating *** addition,formal moderation and mediation analyses(sobel tests) were performed to confirm potential moderators/mediators of the relationship between sOC,psychological distress symptoms and ***:lower sOC scores(std beta=-0.504; P female gender(std beta = 0.176; P = 0.021) and White race(std beta = 0.164; P = 0.033) were independently associated with higher levels of depressive symptoms,while lower levels of sOC(std beta =-0.438; P higher relapse rate(std beta = 0.161; P = 0.033) were independently associated with more severe anxiety symptoms.A significant interaction between time since diagnosis and sOC was found with regard to the severity of depressive or anxiety symptoms,as the interaction term(time since diagnosis X sOC) had beta coefficients of-0.191(P = 0.009) and-0.172(P = 0.026),*** levels of anxiety symptoms(std beta =-0.369; P higher levels

Co,Ni,and Zn iso-reticular coordination polymers of 2,5-dihydroxyterphthalic acid(h_(2)dot)can be rapidly obtained under room temperature and aqueous conditions using either sodium or ammonium hydroxide as the bases to deprotonate the *** use of metal bromides and tetrabutylammonium hydroxide(TBAOh)as the base allows the green synthesis of ionic metal-organic frameworks(MOfs),characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),fourier transform infrared(fTIR),scanning electron microscopy(sEM),thermo gravimetric analysis(TgA),h-nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR),elemental analysis,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPs),and employed in the pressure,solvent,and additive-free CO_(2)fixation to epoxides by its cycloaddition to epichlorohydrin,exhibiting a cooperative behavior between the MOf and the ionic liquid formed within the framework,achieving TONs of the confined tetrabutylammonium bromide(TBABr)up to 700.

Erbium photoluminescence response related to nanoscale heterogeneities in sol-gel silicates

sol-gel glassy films of the siO2-TiO2-PO2.5-ErO2.5 system containing nanocrystallites of ErPO4, were obtained through suitable heat treatments. Variations in the shape and intensity of the Er3＋ photoluminescent signal around 1500 nm were linked to the nature of the host environment of the active ions; the specific features of the photoluminescent emission spectrum of the erbium 4113/2 metastable level were interpreted in terms of structural changes in the glassy films. The photoluminescent spectrum was found to be sensitive to the order （crystalline） or disorder （amorphous） of the Er3＋ ions neighbour within the glassy matrix. An amorphous envi- ronment led to a broadening of Er3＋ Pl emission band while a crystalline one was responsible for a drastic photoluminescent band- width narrowing. The presence of nanoscale heterogeneities caused a drastic photoluminescence intensity decrease. Changes in the shape of the decay curve of fluorescence lifetime were found also structurally dependent on volumetric defects, occurrence of phase separation and Er3＋-Er3＋ clustering effects as well.

Elastic, thermodynamic, electronic, and optical properties of recently discovered superconducting transition metal boride NbRuB:An ab-initio investigation

The elastic, thermodynamic, electronic, and optical properties of recently discovered and potentially technologically important transition metal boride NbRuB, are investigated using the density functional formalism. Both generalized gradient approximation （ggA） and local density approximation （lDA） are used for optimizing the geometry and for estimating various elastic moduli and constants. The optical properties of NbRuB are studied for the first time with different photon polarizations. The frequency （energy） dependence of various optical constants complement quite well the essential features of the electronic band structure calculations. Debye temperature of NbRuB is estimated from the thermodynamical study. All these theoretical estimates are compared with published results, where available, and discussed in detail. Both electronic band structure and optical conductivity reveal robust metallic characteristics. The NbRuB possesses significant elastic anisotropy. Electronic features, on the other hand, are almost isotropic in nature. The effects of electronic band structure and Debye temperature on the emergence of superconductivity are also analyzed.

Attritor-milling of poly(amide imide) suspensions

The milling behavior of poly(amide imide),which serves as a prototypical hydrophilic high-performance polymer with a high glass transition temperature,was *** milling conditions(milling times up to 7h,stirrer tip speeds of 3.4-4.9 m/s,and mass concentrations of 5-20%) were tested,and particle sizes as low as d50,33μm were *** milling was performed at 11℃ in an *** scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis were performed before and after milling to investigate the effect of milling on the glass transition temperature and on the decomposition behavior of the *** suspension obtained after milling was observed to be stable without the addition of stabilizers or the adjustment of the ph value,and no negative effect of milling on the polymer properties was *** attritor technique proved to be an adequate and efficient milling tool for the production of micrometer-sized high-performance polymer suspensions.

The halide-activated pack cementation method is utilized to codeposit aluminum and silicon on Mo substrate. Emphasis is placed on the microstructure and elevated-temperature oxidation resistance of coatings. The results show that hexagonal Mo(si, Al)2 as a main phase and a little amount of the lower disilicide Mo5si3 was formed on Mo substrate through the halide-activated pack cementation method. The resultant si-Al coating on Mo substrate exhibits excellent cyclic oxidation resistance. The excellent cyclic oxidation resistance of the coatings is attributed to the formation of alumina on the coatings during the oxidation.
